8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

This guy claims that all his players are 8GB. When someone questioned why they arrive with only 0.98GB, he explains that there are 2 drives.. one being 0.98GB and the other 7.99GB
quote * This is a compressed 8GB flash drive, the 8GB capacity is for storing data files only; the actual playable and recordable capacity is 1GB

Scammer?.. i say add the mongrel to the blacklist!

Name: hailitele

[ hailitele on eBay ]

dealsearcher 23rd Mar 2007 11:35 am

I also just bought from this guy before I came across this forum. I haven't received my player yet, but I know it's going to be 1GB. Why doesn't he have any negative feedbacks yet? I will leave him one when I get my player! I've also alerted some of recent buyers, see what happens.

_Odyssey 23rd Mar 2007 5:18 pm

He doesn't have any negative feedback because he probably has made an arrangement with the people he has scammed... like given partial refunds in exchange for positives or neutrals. Notice the "12 ratings mutually withdrawn"? They were most likely negatives.

If your player does turn out to be hacked demand a refund, and send him a link to this forum.

dealsearcher 23rd Mar 2007 6:11 pm

I'm confident that my player is 1GB. He has in fine, fine, fine prints the "capacity" issue. I have full intention to fight this with him. I just signed the petition

Here's the response I got:

Hi, thanks for your inquiry. The "Capacity" part is clearly stated in the item description, the 8GB is for acting as a 8GB USB flash drive for storing data files only, and the actual playable and recordable capacity is 1GB. t can hold 8GB of songs as data, but among them, only the songs locate in the first giga byte of the memory section are playable. Sorry, this is an eBay approved listing, please refuse or return the shipment for a full refund. I apologize for any inconvenience.

The above response is absolute and total bull$hit, in case anyone buys into it in the slightest.

dealsearcher 25th Mar 2007 8:32 am

I sent off a few messages to some current and old customers of his, asking if they were aware of the 1GB playable issue. Now hailitele reported me for spamming his customers and says ebay will suspend my account, which I don't care for that much. So in response I gave him the negative feedback he deserved. I was going to wait until I receive the player to do it, but why wait, he already flat out admit i was 1GB? If ebay suspends my account, there's no way for me to "retract" the negative feedback as he hopes. I just wish more people would know about his scheme.

mattpeed 13th Apr 2007 10:48 am

I think this guy is probably lying about the 7gb of flash memory as well. Why would a player have the storage space for 7gb but not be able to play it? I bet it's hacked, so that it looks like you could put 7gb on the "storage" part when it's probably only 500mb or so. He figures no one will find out because who the hell needs 7gb of flash drive storage? So this guy is committing fraud in more ways than one.

Im sorry to say, but, it isn't his fault. You should just read the instructions right, because its stated there. Btw, and 8 GB player isn't that cheap, go figure.

admin 22nd Apr 2007 10:35 pm

sunburstX,

Can you explain what you mean in more detail when you say "..you should just read the instructions right, because its stated there"... Can you tell me what instructions they are?

I read the response AlbertaSatellite got and it sounds very incorrect.

Alex® 23rd Apr 2007 2:29 am

Try to copy 8Gb data on player and then back to HDD. (preferably other PC). Data will be corrupt. Memory is hacked. No COMPRESSIONS. lame excuse

frenchie 4th May 2007 1:44 am

Hey i have taken these guys to paypal if anyone can help me to get them taken down tell me what to say and if i can get a copy of the petition please i gonna get them!!!! I bought 4 of them

dealsearcher 9th May 2007 10:19 pm

Let me update what happened. I gave the seller a neg feedback and the seller responded with a neg feedback. which puts me in the low 90% since I have very few feedbacks. Naturally I can't afford the negative feedback from him. But I was determined to leave the neg feedback if he refused to refund me. He is banking on buyers who gave him neg to retract. He knows very well that neg feedbacks don't go well for the average joe. I requested for full refund (including shipping) and he gave in, and refused to withdraw the neg until I received my refund. I'm a little ashamed to say that I caved. I never even seen the player, refused shipment when it arrived at the door as agreed upon with seller. The delivery from China was very fast, took less than a week.

Re: 8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

The negative feedback issue is a problem.

I received negative (my only one) from jungle.bookstore (aka jungle.foodstore, now no loger eBay registered).
I cannot even ask them to retract now..

So I emailed eBay.
Here's an excerpt:

"..I was concerned that I would receive negative.. ..so I asked eBay what I could do to safeguard myself. I was told there was nothing I could do.

I delayed leaving feedback until PayPal closed my case."
(this was done without explanation) "Then I felt others needed to be warned of this seller seeing as PayPal was doing nothing (it was a matter of principle and I thought if it costs me AUD$80 to warn others so be it).

I was checking my PayPal account today and saw they had re-opened the case and were still reviewing it. That is when I checked the item again and saw I had been given negative feedback...

I think there needs to be a system in place to safeguard the plaintiff in a dispute case. The feedback system should reflect this by limiting the type of feedback the defendant can leave if the dispute is unresolved and especially when the case is found to be in the plaintiff's favour."

Maybe all of us who have unfairly received negatives need to complain to eBay so the system is revised to protect the buyers of fake goods.

I will update this board when I get a reply.

Not sure what you mean by the above.

A bit of advice to people who are worried about negative feedback. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. I used to sweat if I got a negative feedback, 100% of the time they were unjust negatives. If you give some righteous negative feedback, and they give you a retaliatory negative in return, at least you can feel good about the fact you DID THE RIGHT THING.

Hey all,

I wish i had seen this site sooner as i got a "BRAND NEW (3RD GENERATION) 8GB* 1.8” TFT MP3/MP4 PLAYER".

Also from hailitele.

I knew about the 1gb playable and recordable capacity but...

When I first got it there was 2 drives 1x8gb (DRIVE F) and 1x1gb (DRIVE G). I started to fill the 8gb up with music but when i unattached the player and went into music ... there would be sum folders missing. when i attached it back to comp the folders would be there but all messed up. so i formatted the 8gb now the drive g has disappeared and im only left with 1gb on drive f  .

I guess this means hailitele is actually selling sum hacked players?

robjones 12th Jul 2007 1:48 pm

Check out bt-big-world, they use the same line of text in their listing. I think the issue here is that "8GB" shouldn`t be allowed in the title whether it has an asterix or not. All of hailitele and bt-big-world 8gb items seem to carry the same line. bt-big world has over 100 8gb players a day and hailitele has over 250 8gb players listed each and every single day. Nice little earner for Ebay!!!

BRAND NEW (3RD GENERATION) 8GB* 1.8” TFT MP3/MP4 PLAYER

FRAUD DO NOT PURCHASE !!!!! Yep I wanna help take this guy down as well. . . I THINK THE BEST WAY TO HIT HIM HARD IS THROUGH COPYRIGHT !!! DID ANYONE GET A SONG SAY YOU SAY ME - BY LIONEL RICHIE INSTALLED ON THEIR PLAYER ??? PLUS OTHER ITEMS ?

IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED THIS PLAYER I URGE YOU TO READ ON . . .

DEALING WITH HAILITELE
The item was paid for. The postage was quick and reliable however, Firstly the item is faulty. It does not play radio or video, and there is much internal background noise (bleeps and processing noises - over the music volume). Software Problems (Installation CD was intentionally omitted from delivery and the seller had opened the box and put some online
installation instructions of his own into the box.) Those instructions
sent me an online web site to download free software that did not work,
or alternatively Sharware software that I had to pay extra for to
register.

This product is full of errors including MEMORY hacks, which state that
the item has 8GB capacity when in fact it only has 1GB of onboard memory if I choose to update with the appropriate firmware.

The music is unpleasant to listen to because of this background noise.
The player also came with copyrighted objects already installed. i.e.
the song Say you Say me by Lionel Richie. This item had been opened and
copyrighted objects were copied to it prior to delivery.

I filed a negative feedback. As soon as I did that the seller filed a
REVENGE dispute saying that I did not pay. I have paid and I have the
paypal receipts to prove it. Infact, the seller contacted me first
thanking me for the fast payment I had made. He also left me bad buyer
feedback on grounds that were untrue, blackmailing me to mutually remove our feedback with a refund that I have NOT recieved.

THE REFUND PROCESS
So in my paypal account I have this extra transaction called REFUND PENDING. . .Which means that there are insufficient funds in the sellers account to make the refund.

THE ONLINE FRAUD COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT PROCESS (FROM EBAY)
.... I have forwarded a report of your concerns regarding copyright
infringement so that our Investigations team can look further into this
and the appropriate action.

Based on these concerns, It may also be in your best interest to contact
local law enforcement authorities for you and the seller.

Alternatively, you could also contact the Australian Federal Police, as
they also handle online fraud complaints. You can find a contact number
for the Australian Federal Police at their website, http://www.afp.gov.au/

When contacting law enforcement authorities, please let them know that
eBay will cooperate with the investigation. The officer can find
information on how to contact eBay at the following page:

http://pages.ebay.com.au/securitycentre/howcontact.html

On this page, the officer will find both an email address and a fax
number to reach eBay.

Please request that the officer include the following information:

1. The case number

2. The officer's name

3. The officer's telephone number

If you would like to you can also request the members contact
information on file with eBay.

YOU WILL NEED THE SELLERS CONTACT INFORMATION TO DO THIS:

Heqi Sheng 155 Zhi Dan Lu Hong Kong Ge 3/F B Shanghai, 200065, CHINA

Payment To : Sheng Heqi
Seller's ID : hailitele
Seller's Email: hailitele@hotmail.com

:x just found this site,
a bit too late as i have bought over 20 players off him already,
it's not the fact that i have found them to be only 1gb, but that i have sold them on.
now just waiting for the backlash. one good thing is i have feedback to leave for around five of them exspect five red dots on his account .

razzer001 4th Aug 2007 4:30 am

This guy also sells on a site now:

http://www.hailitele.com/

He sells "8GB" players but only 1GB can be used.....

Funny thing is, on his help page he has a link to mympxplayer.org for anyone that wants help using their mp4 players, i wonder if he knows there is an entire thread on his cheating ass.

robjones 4th Aug 2007 7:11 am

There are now at least five sellers using the same line of text to validate their "8GB MP4" claim in the listing title. They are hailitele, bt-big-world,flashmentown,player-world and digiworld2008.

They all use clear and intentional misrepresation of the facts. I have been reporting listings that use the word Nano in the listing title and have had some success in getting them removed, although I have been concentrating on the 8GB listings till now. But there has been a clear reduction in the number of these listings in the past week. One seller in particular matsfactory has been selling these in auctions(with Nano in the title) for over 100$ a time, although the same player has been going for about 45$ without the word Nano in the title. A lot of the buyers are obviously new and have zero feedback. I know that you always have to learn a few lessons when you start buying on Ebay, but these were particularly cruel lessons. The main point I am trying to make here is that I believe that reporting a listing can be effective. Unfortunately it is hard to catagorize this 8GB scam in Ebay`s reporting system.
Anyone got any ideas?

Re: 8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

Let me start by saying this issue is still going on for me. First off I bought from this guy using pay pal, I bought the 8GB that is really a 1GB. It gave my computer a virus. It stopped working; completely, 8 days after I bought it; one day after the warranty expired. So I opened a dispute. I get an email that said he will give me a refund if I ship it back to him. For me to do this it would be at least $80.00 US without insurance, I sent him the below email:

"Your resolution to my dispute is unacceptable. I was not the one who sent out faulty and misrepresented merchandise. By the way; it no longer works for some reason, it stopped working after 8 days. For me to ship it back it would cost me over 80.00 US dollars; which is unacceptable. You will either send me a pre paid box to return it in or pay the shipping cost or I will be forced to take legal action and file suit in a small claims court where I will request the amount to ship it, the refund amount, and all court fee’s for me to do so; oh, and for what it cost me to buy software to remove the virus that your player put on my computer. I can guarantee that I will win in this situation because of the well documented evidence and the many witnesses I have who have also been ripped off by you. My request is simple, I just want my money back; and if you want your no longer working MP3 player as well then you need to pay to have it shipped back. The choice is now up to you on what will be done. I will wait one week to hear back on your decision with this before I start the process for taking a legal approach. The decision is yours."

In addition to this I have taken many steps on stopping this crap as much as one person can. Let me explain a bit. First I reported this guy (Hailitele) to CATF (Consumer Agency Task Force), to the FCC; which consisted of six different people that I emailed, the FBI; very specifically the task force designated for online scams, to my local law enforcement, to my local legislators, to the appropriate government officials in his local area, and so on and so forth. I will list two web sites that allowed me to do so correctly below.

In addition to this I am gathering any and all information about this guy from the people who have been scammed. The reason I am doing so is so that I can call E Bay and talk with someone in their fraud department about this with as many examples as possible. With this said if any of you going through the same thing or something similar; related to this person, please come forward with dispute numbers for E Bay and pay pal so I can use them as a reference. Please note that with providing this information you may be contacted by E Bay, pay pal, or any other investigative team that I am unaware of at this time. Also if you wish to remain as a confidential person please state so when you post. There is no pressure with receiving this information but if you are sick of this crap and wish to openly take a stand then please help me put a stop to this. Thank you now for your time and in advance for any help provided.

If I find any other helpful web sites pertaining to reporting scams and fraud I shall post them with my other links.

Re: 8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

Regarding this seller - I am mad and not to be crossed with either!

Unfotunately I only learned of this site after I had purchased the standard unit you discuss. Not only have I had all the same issues you mention but after our email exchanges not resulting in any resolution, I warily (and expectingly of a retort on his behalf), left negative feedback. I did so wondering what it is he does - threatens - to earn so many mutual withdraws of valid negative feedback against him. Well I now know! Grrrrr!!

Not only did he leave me completely ridiculous negative feedback (he has a standard phrase irrespective of the customer) but on the same day he raised an 'unpaid strike warning' to ebay! The guy is seriously nasty - He acknowledged my payment in email!! I have immediately followed through with the standard appeal process to ebay however communication with ebay takes a few days to be looked at.

Unbelievably, less than 12 hours later I have received a strike for the 'unpaid item' which I was only notified of as a warning yesterday!!
(1) How did it go through so quick - the warning stated that I had 7 days to respond before any action, and
(2) Why would ebay give me that strike before looking into my response, and proof of payment via paypal??!!

It is my suspicion that 'Hailitele' has an insider or IS an insider trader?!

The whole thing is completely ridiculous, especially as I am only one little $50 job of his and only small fry with half a dozen sales/purchases of my own. This man has absolutely no integrity and I also wish to contribute in any way I can to have him taken down and all customers burned by him to be relieved.

Even more frustrating, there is no person I can speak with and report him to, as I have read. Only can I fax or post hardcopies of all my proof (What happened to innocent until proven guilty?!) but then this process takes 10 days, and given my 12 hour strike turnaround, my account will be suspended before any legitimate customer service becomes aware...

What to do? Vex?? I am happy to email you evidence against Hailitele if you can provide your email address somehow?

Re: 8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

I also bought a 8GB mp4 Player from Hailitele, received today and of course found this website and all the info about Hailitele a little too late. After all the crappy stuff that this guy does to people I thought If all i get is a 1 GB MP4 then so be it lesson learnt...... But my biggest problem is that my MP4 wont turn on... and will not connect to my computer which I am assuming is because it wont turn on.

Has anyone else had this problem,or am I doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

robjones 8th Aug 2007 2:54 pm

The main problem as I see it is EBAY. They have a system for reporting this kind of deception but when you report it they do nothing. They are making too much money from it. This is clear fraud in my eyes. Ebay do not police their site if it means losing a lot of money. I am certain that it has been reported to them, probably on hundreds of occasions. I have certainly reported Hailitele at least 40 times for keyword spamming in the listing title and misrepresentation. It gets you nowhere with big sellers. The power is with Ebay. Internet selling in general is so frustrating if you have any problems, and if the site which is hosting the sales is making money then you have little chance in reality in bringing them down. Maybe red-vision was a notable exeption. Recently I have received a full refund from red-vision for two hacked players. I also get to keep the two players. The only reason I can think of is that he wants to sell on Ebay again and he has no choice but to make ammends to outstanding claimants. It was certainly a forced action because his original offers were 5$. I still firmly believe that if listings similar to my own were to appear in America and beyond it would make a big difference. I have tried to list there but they never show up live. They will always be at the end of the "MP4 listings" which means they could be 30 pages of Ebay listings away.

But on the positive note, we can all gather here for Mardi Gras, hunt him down, and smother him with 1 pound* of beads ;-)

nybur 9th Aug 2007 4:46 pm

aside from the nerve of this guy and our frustration with his complete lack of integrity, looking after ourselves is where it's at. just notify ebay and persevere and you will get what is fair :) i did. refund from seller still pending in paypal account - without me needing to send the unit back :)

i don't stop till i get what i know i am entitled to! :D

robjones 11th Aug 2007 11:54 am

He is a total fraud, but Ebay is just as guilty as he is, because he has been reported to Ebay many times, but he keeps on selling and misrepresenting what he is selling. We shouldn`t have to look after ourselves in this, Ebay already have a system in place to take these people down, but they do nothing. It`s all about profit, pure and simple.

robjones 11th Aug 2007 2:57 pm

Wish i had seen this forum 3 weeks ago! I purchased a 4gb player off this person. It doesnt work, all it displays is an egg timer and keeps flashing every so often. I emailed him to tell him and he said just to send it back and he will replace it. Im not paying postage again cos the fault was his. This morning i left negative feedback on him, within a couple of hours he has informed Ebay that i did not pay, left negative feedback on me, refunded me thru paypal and sent me a bribe email saying he has refunded me and if i retract the negative feedback then he will also. This guy is a classic! Im not retracting my negative feedback. I am telling ebay all i can, and if anyone wants to contact me for info to knock this guy, you are welcome to it. :)

Re: 8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

Be careful about trusting him, he put negative feedback on me and logged a non paying strike with eBay when i did pay, so he took me to square trade which he had to pay for a mediator then after a while I got my money back – all of it. So what I would like to say to everyone who has brought off this guy is maybe ask him in writing that you want all your money back including all expenses of returning the item/s if he wants them back so you are not out of pocket including any eBay or paypal fees. It may take a month to get your money back but it should happen. But log a complaint with eBay and paypal will then they will talk to you but remember ask for all expensive and fees. Also I have made up two links on a web page www.ubuyus.com about how to test the memory or players and how to repair them. This can also happen on any type pf memory like SD cards etc. He may come good but i think he will not, he is listing over 1500 items per week, so who is making money on this fraud - will everyone can guess. He is selling not 8GB any more but listing and selling 4Gb and 2GB and they are turning up as 1GB. I do know what i am doing as I have over 20 years experience in electronics and computers. Hope this helps and let me know at ubuyus@aapt.net.au who has been ripped off by this seller or by any other sellers as i will make up a list and logged a complaint with the internet police soon as eBay seems to be doing nothin  :(

Re: 8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

It doesn't make sense. You left hailitele a bad feedback because he scammed you and then he leaves bad feedback to you and informs EBay that you did not pay!!! Hmmm. The seller never send an item if the item has not been paid. Basically you received the MP Player, but did not pay. Wow
I should read that before e-mail him. Now I think the best way was to leave him a positive feedback, wait to receive the same one and then start the dispute. I have purchased two MP Players 4GB and 2GB from him. Unfortunately they are 1GB each. That sucks. My daughter is not happy and my wife hasn’t stop bitching yet.
I had another scam from superman_potence (8GB actually 1GB). He waited 45 days after the purchase and then left the feedback. Pretty smart, the Pay-Pals grave period is 45 days.

Re: 8GB mp4 Player alert - Seller: hailitele

I do in fact have one of these i bought 6 months ago it worked fine i could load all 8Gb with music... but... when i did a format it wiped everything so now it wont turn on. It comes on but its just blue screen and nothing else... So i dont know if its because its hacked or not but it does seem really easy to screw up

Hello everyone!! I am just writing to officially join the "I was scammed by Hailitele" Club. Yes..I too wish that I had found this thread 2 weeks ago. My 4 GB player, has a formatted memory of just 900Mb, and wont play wma files. I would love to put my name to any petitions to get this guy, only I bought this player through my friends Ebay account (I didnt have Pay pal) and I dont want to ruin her positive status. Go all the way guys!! Dont let this rest...this greedy low life is giving the mpx players you love a really bad rep!!

Sammy, you can sign the petition on this website. It will not hurt your friend's eBay feedback that way.
