Default Importing Chipods + Duties and Taxes

Greetings guy, anyone know the best way to minimize the import tax when buying in bulk from China/Hong Kong? I just received a player today from Uxcell where I had to pay an additional $15CAD on the player (almost half the value). Canada has this brilliant law where the customs officials can override what it states on the invoice and decide on their own what the parcel is worth. I am sending in for a 'refund' but who knows how long that will take to process. Do you guys have any tips for future reference?

Cheers.

PiN

Why doesn't uxcell send the players as a gift and with a 'low price check' like 20 dollars? Or do they?

I didnt have to pay any taxes for my baby nano player because it costed less than 200kr(200kr is the minimum before they can charge you for taxes in sweden)

I hateeee duties and taxes. ^^

What I know is:
Gift or Free Sample.
And low price. In my country there is a law which products that costs less than $50 won't have to pay customs if the trade has been done between people (I mean, not a company sell).

All of my players from Uxcell have arrived as 'Gift' and "Item Value of 100HKD" and never had to pay any import taxes.

I know here in australia, according to the Australian Taxation office website (but don't ask me how accurate it is) you can import up to $1000 AUD's worth of goods before import tax kicks in.

That seems like quite alot but the rates vary. I'm sure the $1000AUS applys to private purchases and theres another rate for businesses importing for profit.

All the players I've had from other countries, I have always asked them to mark the package as "gift, of no commerical value".

I also got them to change the value of the package to a much lower value. Usually USD$20-USD$30 instead.

NZ's law states anything more than $400 for electronic goods, it's tax free. I know this because I just rung them and asked a simple "if I want to import mp3 players into the country, how much do I have to pay in taxes?". Don't give out your name or details though .

I just checked.. my parcels were marked with a value of 100HKD and at the current exchange rate:

$1HKD = $0.158839 AUD. sooo...

$100HKD = $15.8839 AUD

They maybe mark the package with low price like 100hkd, but, I didn't get the player first. I got a mail saying that I should send a check that I have paid for the mp3 and how much. And thank God, It was below 200 sek. And till I got the player, It took almost a whole month (!)

Sweden is messed up.
