Default My player held together by masking tape!

After reading a post about the lousy soldering inside a player, I decided to check mine out (bought from keistore). Imagine my suprise when I didn't find soldering, but this...

Oh WOW! There was no way for you to know that unless you pulled it apart.

I can't believe that has happened!
That tells me it's a refurbished player to be honest. Maybe it had some battery problems and it has been replaced?

How long have you had your player booboo773?

I got it back in February from keistore on eBay who is no longer a registered user (big surprise huh?). The funny thing is so far it has had no problems other than the error formats before I formatted and found out is was hacked.

booboo773 , it's common for the shiny metal-back players to have masking tape.
It's cheap insulation, just in case the circuit board shorts itself out on the metal-back casing.

My player has the masking tape too, but stuck to the inside of the back casing rather than on the board. Either way it does the insulating job.

Unless it's not for insulation reasons... hmmmm...

I don't think your player is actually held together by masking tape.
Could be.. who knows.

I agree with admin, I would say it is a return that has had a bodgy repair job and resold. "keistore" is now trading under the name "keisquare" and still ripping people off.

If you have been ripped off with a hacked player by a seller submit a report to www.ic3.gov

Maybe the masking tape is there to 'ground' the player from static? A possiblity.....

From what I could see around and thru the tape, I didn't notice any soldering. Doesn't mean it's not under there, but I'm not going to pull the tape off to find out. No telling what might come up with it.

Whoops, I did get it from keisquare. Guess I had read their user ids so many times, I got 'em mixed up. Keisquare is no longer a registered user. Too much negative feedback, unfortunately, after I'd already got the player and before I figured out it was hacked. They made their feedback private real fast so no one could see why all the bad all of a sudden.

Wonder what name they're using now?
