I also have a 4GB chano on the way. They did provide me with a tracking # for USPS, which is odd, considering they said it was sent china airmail???

i know of a couple people that have gotten their 4GB chano's from lots all, and they were true 4GB and functioned quite well. I havent heard a complaint other than shipping time. I paid for mine on June 19th so i am hoping to see mine in the next week or so

That's the number on the Hynix chip.

It does strike me as a bit odd to use two makes, especially as they have different form factors. The 2GB Samsung has the leads coming off the short ends, while the Hynix has them along the long edges. I just can't see that as a good engineering position, but I'm looking at it right now!

Looks like this one
Code:

http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/pdf/dram/HY57V641620E(L_S)T(P)Series(Rev.1.5).pdf
which appears to confirm it is a 64MB chip. :(

Yep, I'd used the link to a pdf identifying Hynix chip codes in the thread about memory to come to that conclusion.

Re: Lotsall

I can't help but notice that all of the auctions today are now either 1 or 2 GB, and there are none listed as 4GB. I wonder if they are the same players and they are now selling them at what they honestly turned out to be. :P

NOLA MPx Fan 13th Jul 2007 4:20 pm

Well, shortly after my initial contact they did pull all the auctions for my style. Then a few days later they sent me an unsolicited email thanking me for bringing this to their attention, letting me know they found other players of the same model with similar issues, and, yet again, apologizing for the inconvenience it had caused me.

A couple days after that, the player was back, but at the two lower capacities.

Could it have been a scam? Sure, but if it was they were among the best at it I've seen and I worked in Timeshare in the Nineties, so I've seen it all.

Could it be they got scammed? I find that more likely. And it just happened that they found out about it when I brought it up. None, and I mean none, of their behaviour on the service side makes me think they sold it to me knowing what it was. Heck, they asked me twice to consider sending it back prepaid at their cost. And that is something no one running a scam has ever done!

So yes, I think they had someone check every single player from that manufacturer. And yes, I think that they are now selling the MT29 and MT26 models at their actual capacity. Again, not something I'd see a scammer doing. ;-)

Re: Lotsall

I took a chance and ordered two players from Lotsall, 1 for me, 1 for my wife. I'm paying for the express shipping. I'll let everyone know how I make out.

NOLA MPx Fan 16th Jul 2007 3:56 pm

Keep us posted.
Mainly because I rally want to give this model to a few relatives as gifts, and I don't want to hunt down another supplier.

(selfish, I know ;-) )

I didn't get the same as you. I got the Chipods because they are now listed at less than your model.

NOLA MPx Fan 16th Jul 2007 6:24 pm

Yes, but I still think it will be a fair test, as "mine" is no longer listed as 4GB.

booboo773 18th Jul 2007 6:03 am

Well, saving the player for a gift for my mom didn't quite work out. She saw my Meizu and immediately wanted one. I knew that would happen, she loves my toys. 8) So I gave her the clone one I got from Lotsall early. Not nearly as good as mine, but she's happy. 2gb will hold plenty for her. She's already had me download 2 full length movies on it.

jo gobel 18th Jul 2007 2:29 pm

i am still waiting for mine.

bought and paid for via ebay on june 19.

they have been very nice about the sitiuation and have assured me that "their customers will not have a lose", hahaha. i love the engrish

once i do get my chipod chano, i will post up the information and a review.

jo gobel 19th Jul 2007 7:31 pm

has anyone else noticed that they have listed all of their chipod's at double what they were going for?

for a 4GB.....

i bought mine for $20 + $18 shipping, so basically, $40

now the buy it now price is like $55 plus $18 shipping, so basically $75

kevx 19th Jul 2007 7:47 pm

Right. Earlier they were selling mp4s that were turning out to be about half the memory that they were supposed to be. When they found out about the problem they pulled everything down and reposted them as what they really are. Unfortunately, Now you have to pay for the real thing. I ordered a 2 GB player for $20, which is probably the same player that you bought when it was incorrectly listed as 4GB. See? The price didn't rise, the listing are just now corrected to the honest capacities. I think that shows a lot of integrity in a seller. We'll see, since I should be getting mine within a week or so.

jo gobel 20th Jul 2007 5:45 am

i am refering to the nano knockoffs, not the other kind they sell

jo gobel 20th Jul 2007 5:53 am

and i have yet to see anyone say that the nano knockoffs they sell are not as advertised...

just the other styel

Re: Lotsall

Ok here goes my story...

29June ...won the Bid for a BrandNew MT26 2.0" MP4 player, 4GB
04July...Item shipped and tracking number provided
10 - 11July - Follow up because tracking number seemed to invalid
11July - Reply from Lotsall that Item is stuck at China customs
12July - Items has been re-shipped (but same tracking number!!!)
16July - Item received
17July - I find out that my device is actually a 1GB and not a 4GB as advertised. Tried copying more than 1GB files and device froze. The player was OK, it could play the files that were on it - but refused to connect to the PC anymroe asking for a re-format
18July - Item is now officially dead. No idea what happened.

Footnote: Other than the time differnce they have been helpful on their emails. However having tried unsuccesfully to get a firmware from them so that I could format the device and keep it on the 1GB size (they offered a USD 5 refund), I have now taken up their offer for a full refund. Will let you know what happens.

Thanks

DeSuzY 20th Jul 2007 1:58 pm

Chinese custom took my item, and fully refund the price:)

jo gobel 20th Jul 2007 3:19 pm

how long ago did you order your player DeSuzY?

it has now ben over one month and the tracking # that they gave me stated it was shipped on July 10th (I paid on JUNE 19th and they emailed me saying it was shipped on the 23rd).

The tracking # they gave is for the USPS and all it states is that it has been rec'd at the USPS location in China on JULY 10.

10 days later, still no chipod.

(i have yet to check the mail)

did everyone elses (in the US) deliver from USPS? and if so, did you have to sign for it?

jo gobel 20th Jul 2007 3:23 pm

at this point i dont care if i get a 2GB model, i just want my damn chipod. i hate getting my chain yanked

booboo773 20th Jul 2007 7:10 pm

Jo gobel, it took 25 days for mine to arrive.

DeSuzY 21st Jul 2007 4:18 am

Yep, it takes approx. 25-30days hehe it must be the cheapest slot(bulk slot)

kevx 21st Jul 2007 12:47 pm

I finally got notice today, Saturday, that the players that I paid for on Monday were shipped. What good is express shipping if they don't even ship for most of a week. BLAH! 5-10 days more to go..

jo gobel 23rd Jul 2007 7:20 am

34 days and still waiting

starting to get a little upset

jo gobel 26th Jul 2007 7:33 pm

finally got a notice that its here. Im going in the morning to pick it up at the post office.

I was reading dome of the most recent feedbacks of lotsall and noticed that there were some negitives and neutrals for 4gb players not working right or being 1gb. and now, there are no more 4gb players listed by them.

so needless to say, i wont be surprised if its hacked now

NOLA MPx Fan 27th Jul 2007 6:33 am

You say there are no more 4GB listings? Why does that sound responsible to me? Instead of peddling them at the "supposed" capacity, they seem to be relisting them at the actual capacity. Now would be the time I'd expect to start seeing negs from the batch that included me. I paid for the fast shipping, but those on the slow boat would be due about now. So this may be from the bad batch mine was in.

They do get a cautionary note from me at this point, but only for folks buying anything over 2GB.

jo, when you pick them up, could you do me a favor and post any non-Chinese characters on the box here? I'd be interested in seeing if there are similarities in manufacturer between all models they sell.

booboo773 27th Jul 2007 6:46 am

I think it's very responsible and honest of them to have removed the 4gb listings. Shows that they are not intentionally selling hacked players in my opinion.

Chances are good that if your player is not a 4gb, it was mixed in with the bad batch Nola and I got. If it is only 2gb, just be sure and contact them. They offered me a full refund and offered to pay shipping costs. How many scammers do that?

jo gobel 27th Jul 2007 8:19 am

did both of you guys get the Nano knockoff's?

I picked mine up this morning at the post office, needless to say, the battery was dead, so i have it on the charger now at work and it loads up just fine.

Firmware is 9.0.50

it DOES HAVE A 3.5mm jack which is NOT what the listing says. so obviously, this is a different batch that what was listed before.

it does have the "MP4 Digital Player" logo on the bottom of the screen which is not what was pictured in the auction.

however, by just playing around with it at work, i like it so far. obviously it works just like every review i have read and viewed on youtube, so nothing odd yet.

i will verify the memory when i get home this evening and take it apart and write up a review.

I'll appreciate the review. Mine are due any day and I'm curious to compare. Thanks.

jo gobel 27th Jul 2007 1:23 pm

just a few more hours and I will be home, so I will have it up in a bit

i am also curious to see whats inside the shell of this thing.

oddly enough, i noticed one thing i dont like, you cannot listen to music if its connected to the wall charger. you cannot even play games or anything like that.

however, it did fully charge in ~2.5 hrs with the wall charger and me doinking around with the player off and on in those 2.5 hours.

if i left it alone and just let it charge, i bet it would have charge in 1hr45mins or so

jo gobel 27th Jul 2007 5:46 pm

well, lets just say i'm not a happy camper right now.

got a hacked 2GB that was labeled as a 4GB.

sent them an email, so tomarrow morning I should have a reply from them about this matter.

I am sure they are going to compensate me for the issue, just a little disappointed at the moment.

my full review to come later this evening, with pictures....

booboo773 27th Jul 2007 5:48 pm

The one I got was an M26 I believe. Looks like a Meizu clone. Called an Icelander on the UXCell website.

I believe what I have coming is the same players that were reposted as 2GBs. I'm betting on them being true. We shall see.

NOLA MPx Fan 28th Jul 2007 5:53 am

No, it's called the M29. Mine looks like the vista at UXcell or the Optimus X at MP4Nation or there's another at campuswhatever.

Could you post any non-
Chinese writing on the box? I bet it's from the same manufacturer.

I'd hate to see a good dealer go down because the supplier shafted them.

jo gobel 28th Jul 2007 7:37 am

there is no writting whatsoever on the box. the manual is in english and that thats it. the components inside the player do not indicate anything other than the Samsung chip.

sorry

NOLA MPx Fan 28th Jul 2007 10:10 am

Ah, you had it shipped in "the plain box" ;-)

I forgot that on the slow boat there were two options. Do you have a link to the auction (or the same one if you want to keep your ID secret)? That might have a bit of detail in it.

...if that's already posted, just smack me with the digital sledgehammer...

jo gobel 29th Jul 2007 9:25 am

the one shown in the auction is not the same as what I got.

there is the MP4 logo on the screen, whereas in the auction, it does not have it.

do you by chance mean the stuff on the back of the player?

superman999 1st Aug 2007 8:55 am

Re: Lotsall

First great site it has been very helpful.

I purchased two different players (MT26 and MT15) from this seller about a month ago. I knew I would have to wait to receive so no big deal. Now they are saying that they got lost in the mail and they need to either refund or reship. I am choosing to reship but it seems like they don't have any more so I will to wait till they get a restock. I asked for a time frame and hopefully they will give me some sort of answer. I am also unclear if it is both that were lost or one. They have been quick to answer my questions and keep me up to date, but I don't know what I have gotten myself into. Any ideas or suggestions on what I should do?

princessanne1026 1st Aug 2007 10:03 am

I too ordered a 2.4" mp4 player from them for another friend (apparently I've become their expert when it comes to mp4 players). It shipped July 21st and the most recent I've been able to see with the tracking number they gave me, it left Shanghai on July 27. Is that a good sign, or does that just mean that it only left the city and not mainland China? Anyone else who bought from them via regular airmail, how long did it take to arrive after saying that it left Shanghai? Thanks

jo gobel 1st Aug 2007 11:07 am

it took about a month for mine after it showed it "shipped"

superman - if you were lucky and got your players for dirt cheap (read under $15 USD) plus shipping, they never shipped them. if you read the feedback, almost 75% of the time someone wins a player for really cheap, they wont ship and just wait until the winner asks for a refund.

personally, i would get my money back and get another model somewhere else.

if you ordered a 4GB, it most likely wont be 4GB, they have pulled all of the 4GB models and I personally will not buy from them again, IMO

booboo773 1st Aug 2007 2:50 pm

I paid $15 plus shipping and it took about a month. They kept good communications.

Jo gobel, I think that overall most of their players sell pretty cheap. There are plenty of feedback where buyers have paid $15 or less. Most as a matter of fact. So maybe people are just getting impatient and asking for the refund because they don't want to wait even though it clearly states on the shipping info that it takes up to 30 business days.

The one I purchased (MT26) was not 4gb but 2. They were very helpful and offered a full refund INCLUDING shipping. I settled for a partial and kept the player. My mom is quite happy with it and it is a nice little player. Even smaller than my Meizu. I would buy from them again provided that they got things settled with their supplier.
