Default Black Pearl and Alba by Uxcell: Anyone own these?

I am considering buying either the Black Pearl or Alba RockChip player from Uxcell as they have a removable battery. I already have a Vista/OptimusX style RockChip with built-in speaker and battery and use the built-in speaker most of the time. I love it however, the battery life is quite short, probably due to the small size of the player and therefore, the battery onboard.

Before purchasing either, I am wondering if anyone has either the Black Pearl or Alba and can confirm the quality of video, the volume of the built-in speaker and the functionality of the removable battery. According to the detailed product descriptions on the Uxcell website, the Black Pearl has a 2.4 inch screen with 320 x 240 pixels. The Alba has either a 2.5 inch or 2.4 inch screen with 320 x 240 pixels. Both play XVid video. The Black Pearl is cheaper so would be my preference, if the functionality of each is similar.

Any comments? Thanks.

Hi JP! I've Googled both players and cannot come up with any reviews for you other than one or two from buyers on the UXCell site which aren't very informative.

I haven't seen any posts regarding either of these players here.

Not much help, I know, but if I come across anything, I will post it.

Both my 320x240 rockchip players seem to be about the same as far as video quality goes. One is a Vista/Optimus X type like yours.

I'd been eyeing the Black Pearl myself, and for the same reason. On my last business trip my player died in the middle of my second flight with no way to recharge. Would have done just about anything for another hour of playtime...

NOLA MPx Fan: My Optimus X battery only runs an hour now on a full charge watching video with the speaker on loud. When I got it three months ago I tested it and it would play the same video at full volume for a bit over 2 hours. The video was converted at the low quality setting which is 20 fps, 300 kbps video, 64 kbps audio.

What is your battery life like? Thanks.

Yikes! You are scaring me. Mine is still relatively new, and was not a true Optimus X, but rather one labeled " MT-29". Looks identical.

Right now I'm getting about 2.5 hours of continuous play with headphones. If I watch something then put it away then pick it up again later, I get almost three hours.

I've written the specs I'm using around here somewhere in one of the threads about AVConverter. I'll go look. But if I remember, that's at 512 kbps video and 128 kbps audio...
