I need your advice

Ok sooo long story short i was scammed Getting an mp4 player, The old 8GB hack or what ever and i guess this user scammed so many others even some that have posted on this forum. here is the story I asked him if he could just send me 20$ of my 40$ i spent on this item back so I wouldnt have to pay shipping fees and he could make a profit on his item but he just sent me the same engrish email that he did when i first complained about the mp4 player he did offer a full refund both times, i think he made a standard message for anyone who complained. So i decided to go that route getting a refund then I got an email from ebay saying he wanted me to pay his listing feels i disproved and wrote
"I was lied to! He used false advertisement saying it was a 8GB player when in fact it was only 1GB
there was no where on his listing saying it was 1GB. This item was hacked and falsely represented to
trick me in to buying this item I will not pay for his bidding fees and i barely wanted to send this
item back because he will just scam some one else with it! I sent an email to ebay safeharbor saying
he scammed me but they never returned my email its been 4 days."
then instantly 5 minutes later the dispute was over with an ebay message saying
"The Unpaid Item dispute has been closed for the following reason:
Buyer rejected the transaction withdrawal."

I have told the scammer i have sent the item back and was going to to it but it was Saturday and the post office already closed now its sunday night i have all my money i waisted on this peice of junk mp4 player back and thinking to my self what would happen if i didnt send it back? I mean i would have to waist over 10$ sending it to china and having to know that he is just going to scam some one else with it
so i ask what would you do please reply as soon as you can because i have to make the choice by tomorrow.
much thanks ahead of time

Quite the moral conundrum.
Someone smarter than me once said
"let your conscience be your guide"

Having said that, I vote for keep it.

man88e , if i were you, i'll just tell the seller that if he wanted the player back, he would need to pay for the return mail costs.

To be safe, just withdraw any remaining money you have in your paypal account (if that was how he refunded you) to your own bank account. Just in case he attempts to recover the money refund to you.

But in most cases, the seller would likely tell you to keep the player. As the cost to them is very low, and i guess that they need the time to scam others rather than arguing with you.

ok thanks you guys are the best! it was through paypal but how long should i take the money out? like a month? or week? I did tell the scammer i sent the item back already so i cant really ask him for shipping cost right now right? can i get in trouble for lieing?

Sorry. I have no respect for you either if you keep the player after agreeing to send it back. Two wrongs don't make a right. Be the bigger man.

I was just kidding.

I think you know the right thing to do is send it back.

Think of it as a learning experience, a 1gb chipod kind of sucks anyway, now you can get a rockchip player.

I am sorry I am just so sick of being the bigger man these scammers make so much money its time i look out for number 1 i am sorry i just cant keep waisting money and learning stupid moral stuff every time i get scammed by some one (first time being scammed like this) morals are a great thing i have them but i am just fed up i have no pitty for some one who steals from me

well if you want to get the scammer, just drop the player in an envelope without stamps and no return address and mark 'Receiver Pay Postage"

It may work, it may not, but either way you can say you mailed back the player - don't waste any of your money on sending crap back to a scammer.

Frankly to me, when negotiating with a scammer, i'd say "go and fly a kite".

Being a bigger man and paying for these "lessons" which really in fact are not lessons but scams, is just plain dumb.

So lets say if you bought a car from a car dealer from another state. You paid for the purchase price plus transport costs plus any other taxes.
You and the dealer agreed on a V8 engine, but the car came with a V6 engine.
So are you gonna be the bigger man and send the car back at your OWN cost to get a refund of the purchase price only? Or you gonna go all out to sue and get every single cent from the dealer?

Seriously this is a matter of dishonest sellers. They advertise the players as 4GB or 8GB, but in actual fact is only 1GB or 512MB.
They AGREED to sell you a 4GB or 8GB, but they broke the agreement by selling you something else.

So basically to people who do not honor agreements they set out, personally i feel not obligated to honor any agreements set forth after by me.
