Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

I just got my MPx player today, one of those Glacier types. Bought it from rogerlam628. It's supposed to be 4GB.

Yes this is the first time here, but I've always been fast to hacking something, anyway, I turned it on and realized the GUI looked like crap. So I went to google and found this site, went reading, and found that I could have been scammed. Well, I already had music on it and I didn't want to open it up, so I thought maybe I could take a look at the firmware. Mine has version 9.1.51, so I found it couldn't be modded but no, I was still gunna try.

I found s1clone v1.1. When I went to use it it displayed info about the flash chip.
This is the exact line: flash chip: 2555D5EC "HYNIX/SAMSUNG 2048MB (LBF)" (protected =0)

Last I checked, 2048 MB isn't 4 GB.

So yea, Also, maybe someone could develop a way to open up these s1clone images.

Anyway, I'm about to contact him now, anything in particular I should say?

booboo773 7th Sep 2007 6:04 pm

You still need to format the player to remove the memory hack otherwise you will have problems with it such as restarted, freezing, file format errors.

I would contact the seller which is a known scammer and tell him what you found out. Most likely, he will respond and try to blame it on you, the manufacturer, or claim it is an honest mistake. He will probably tell you to ship the player back at YOUR cost and he will give you a full refund. I wouldn't do it as you are most likely never to see your money or another player again. If you paid thru Paypal open a dispute through them. If he refuses the full refund unless you ship the player back, you might want to accept a partial and keep the player. Find out how much 2gb players are going for and offer to take that.

Buzzygirl 7th Sep 2007 6:11 pm

Your player apparently has 2 GB onboard storage. If you paid for a player that advertised 4 GB storage, then contact the seller and tell them you didn't get what you paid for. If the seller does not offer to refund your money, then open a dispute with Paypal (assuming you paid the seller through Paypal).

Do not do anything with your player, up to and including flashing firmware, etc. until you have heard from the seller about what they plan to do about selling you a player that is not as advertised.

Re: Easier way to see if player is hacked!!!

See http://www.samsung.com/global/busine...ry_WEB_new.pdf to decode the ID (2555D5EC in your case) -- it reads backwards, so read as EC D5 55 (ignore the first two digits). Also see datasheet for additional information.

Result: your chip is Samsung (EC), 16Gb x 8, 3.3v. 2048+16 bytes, 256K page size.

thehackerdude 8th Sep 2007 8:36 am

ok, I formated, 2 GB confirmed

NoReal 15th Sep 2007 1:12 pm

I am lucky.

I bought a player from rogerlam628 and player is working and is not hacked.

But I will not buy again from him because I see this page.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

I purchased a 4GB "nano" style MP4 player from rogerlam628. Paid $46 for it. I was warned about probable hacking and shipping from China by another Ebayer, after I purchased it, so I sent him an email saying that I didn't want it if it was a hacked 2GB and being shipped from China (description says "Ships from Canada"). He emailed me and told me not to worry, because he "doesn't cheat customers", and shipping would be quick. That gave me a slight reassurance, because he knew that I could tell what a hacked player was.

Well, it arrived in about three weeks, which I didn't think was too bad for shipping from China......but of course, it was a hacked 4GB, that was really a 2GB.

I told him that I would report him to Ebay, PayPal, and leave negative feedback if he didn't resolve the problem. Of course he told me to ship it back at my expense. I told him that I would not ship it back at my expense, and to either send me a real 4GB, or another 2GB to make a total of 4GB, or give me my money back. I ended up agreeing to take a partial refund of $17. I don't think $29 is too much for a working 2GB player....plus, I figured any kind of refund was better then nothing.

So after I got the refund, I left negative feedback on Ebay. He just emailed me yesterday asking for me to remove the negative feedback. I told him that I would....when he ships me what I paid for, which is a true 4GB player. I told him I would even give him his $17 refund back. He hasn't answered me yet.

Way to go, dude! More of this kind of action will tip potential buyers off to the scams of these losers.

I salute you!

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

I was also scammed by this guy earlier this month!
I'm happy i found this site as atleast i now have a working 2GB player.

I contacted him saying that it was only a 2GB player and not 4GB he said he didn't believe me and could i prove that it was only 2GB!

I went a little overkill and emailed him pictures of the windows format information and a picture of the Flash Ram chip (with the serial number clearly visible) and gave him the link to Samsung's web page which can decipher the chip code to show what it is, then gave him a full breakdown of what the code meant and how that proved it was a 2GB chip!

He then just emailed back saying that he didn't understand my email but would be prepared to offer a full refund if i posted it back or a partial refund.

Clearly i wasn't going to mail it back (and it does work fairly well as a 2GB player) so i asked for the partial refund option.

Just to get things in perspective the player cost me just over £21 inc. postage and he just came back offering me a £1 partial refund!?!?!

Needless to say i emailed him back asking him to revise his 'offer' :)

Am waiting to see what he has to say next!

lattesurf 21st Sep 2007 2:29 am

devcloud , perhaps you could search over ebay and compare the average selling prices of 2GB players. Then ask for the difference between the 2GB players and your player.

Keep those emails that he replied you. You might need them if you open a dispute over paypal.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

It angers me that ebay allows this fraud to go on. I was conned a year ago!

You buy from Hong Kong, worrying that nothing will turn up. So when it arrives you're so releaved that you give positive feedback. It's only weeks later that it stops working properly and you end up at this wonderful site.

For what it's worth I've reported some of rogerlam628's 4GB listings to ebay.

Report a breach of an eBay listing policy or a prohibited item: eBay Help: Contact Us.

good luck with the refund.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Hi all,

Just registered, cos I wanted to share my frustrations with like-minded individuals and thank you guys who posted info on how to remove the hack on rogerlam's mp3players (I am somewhat technologically challenged, and the directions were great, THANKS!)

I bought a 4GB player, and to my *amazement* (ha! googled this dude a week ago and found all this info on his scam) after I re-formatted the player, it is only 1.89GB! And if that weren't bad enough, the lying about item location, and then he says in his listings that he will post out item within 48 hours of payment - he didn't send it out for 2.5 weeks! he lied twice, saying he'd sent it, but it was only when I got really antsy about it and threatened to contact ebay that he actually sent it (although still didn't get sent for a further week - I checked the post mark stuff)...

I've only just removed the hack, and have sent him a long, long email pointing out all my issues with him(including pointing out that his practices, as the ones I have personally experienced, are against ebay policy, and he is even committing FRAUD). I mentioned his location being wrong, the delay in post, and the crap layer. i do not want to send it back at my own expense, so I have insisted on half money refund. I have no problem going to ebay if he stuffs me around...

Thanks also to the person on here who mentioned sending phoos as evidence of the player being hacked etc - I did the same - pics before and after, plus pic of the sticker saying 4GB on back - just so he couldn't claim the wrong product was sent....

Just gotta wait for a response now...

agggghrrrrrrrr don't get a greek chick mad!

Koulourakia_Girl

lattesurf 7th Oct 2007 7:22 pm

Seems like it is a new tactic for these scammers to send the players at a much later date after paying. Perhaps trying to lessen the effect of the 60day limit of Item Not Significantly Described.

By sending it out a few weeks late, would have cut the 60 day limit by almost half. And for the unsuspecting buyer, they probably might not know or have any problems until after a few more weeks. By then, maybe the 60day limit is up and they can't file any claims.

Hongkong/China to the rest of the world does not take a few weeks. Except for a few countries where customs take a long time to clear your mail, or if you tie the package to a pigeon's leg to fly across the Atlantic.
I've bought players from Hongkong and China before, all via normal airmail, and it took just about 5-7working days after they posted it out.

koulourakia_girl 8th Oct 2007 6:45 am

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought, too...but I had the dates all worked-out, so if I hadn't received the player by a certain date, I was filing - unfortunately, that will not cover me if the player decides to die in a few weeks time...that's why I'm so insistent about hassling this bloke for a partial refund...He still hasn't replied to my email (sent mid-morning). I know he's been on ebay, cos he's left positive feedback for a number of buyers...but he's clearly ignoring me...So I emailed him again earlier this evening, a mere five minutes after he left feedback for someone (and one could assume he was still online)...still nothing.

Oh, he's getting this greek chick hot under the collar, I tell ya...

P.S. Has anyone actually had a proper read through the instruction manuals sent out with the products??? Looks like it was translated from Chinese to Russian to French to Pig Latin, and then finally to english - parts are utterly incomprehensible! "Press MENU to enter the son menu of stop."...Is it me, or is that difficult? I started out pressing all these buttons trying to work out basic functions...and still having a hard time, until I read the manual 9or tried to), and found out that I shouldn't be pressing/pushing buttons, but PLUCKING them...ah, it all makes so much sense now....a delicate pluck like the string of a finely-tuned guitar.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Thank goodness I found this! I am in the same boat. I bought an MP3/Mp4 player (4GB but no doubt 2 GB) in the middle of September. "Roger" sent an email and said that he sent the package 5 days after I won the auction. I have yet to recieve it, so I emailed him. He returned my email with the tracking number for a package, saying he sent it out and should get it soon. Well, the tracking number he gave me says only that it's destined for the US but not a location. Also it says that he just mailed it out on Saturday! That's 21 days after purchase and 15 days AFTER he said he mailed it in the first place! I am so angry!

Brew Swillis 8th Oct 2007 3:24 pm

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

I hate to say it, but I think the guy is just busy with selling and shipping mass quantities of his hacked players. He responds to my emails fairly quickly, which is usually the next day. He is probably just swamped and maybe out of stock at times. Just look at how many feedbacks he receives per day! He needs to be stopped!

Get your partial refunds, and then leave negative feedback. He hates that. He keeps asking me to remove mine.

He told me that I seem to be smart, and should know that I can't buy a real 4GB player for $46. He told me that if I wanted a real 4GB player, I would have to send him $58. I could buy one from a legitimate seller for $58.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Hi there tandesmom!

Ah, the same old story just keeps coming up over and over again...

I had the same prob - he emailed and said he sent it the day after I paid. Waited two weeks, still got nothing. I emailed again, and asked where the hell it was. He told me that there was a problem in manufacture (so at very least he's selling products he doesn't actually have), and he had just sent it out. Gave me a tracking number too...Kept checking the site, and it finally registered in the HK mail system on the 29th - so the second time he said he sent it, he actually didn't...I waited like a little over 2.5 weeks for him to send the item! Even then took a while to get here.

He STILL hasn't replied to my emails (I sent TWO yesterday) insisting on a generous partial refund...and I know he's been online (and on ebay) cos he keeps leaving feedback for people - and it's customised feedback, not an automated feedback thing...he's bloody ignoring me! I just sent him another email, telling him that I DO NOT appreciate being ignored and he needs to get in contact with me asap or I'm gonna file a dispute...

When you get the player, as you yourself said, it is undoubtedly going to be a mere 2GB, this is where I went: http://www.xbox0.co.uk/

You know what really upsets me about this guys fraudulent activity? It's that all these people get their items, and don't check the out "properly", and leave him positive feedback...I've spoken to a few of them, who insist that their players are actually 4GB - but they've only checked the properties thing on their computer - of course it's gonna say it's 4 - it's HACKED!!!

Good luck with it :)

P.S. I just had a look at his most recent feedback - have you noticed how many feedback retractions he's had??? 218!!! I've heard from a couple of people that they leave neg or neut feedback, and he refuses to give them any part refund, unless they first get the bad feedback removed...I'm pretty sure this is against ebay policy...That's why I haven't left any feedback yet - waiting to get refund, then he's gonna incurr the full velocity of my greek wrath.....

P.P.S. Quoting Brew Swilis' post: "He told me that I seem to be smart, and should know that I can't buy a real 4GB player for $46. He told me that if I wanted a real 4GB player, I would have to send him $58." Now THAT is against ebay policy - good evidence against him if you were going to file a dispute or report him - it shows that he KNOWS FULL-WELL that the players he advertises as 4GB are not so - he charges more for the 'real'4GB....That's really sucky...

lattesurf 9th Oct 2007 12:08 am

Pure B.S. Even if you paid $100, i doubt you are ever going to get a real 4GB. Being scammed the first time round, who would actually trust him again to send a real 4GB?

koulourakia_girl 9th Oct 2007 12:57 am

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

OH MY BLOODY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got a response from the bloke - you may remember from a earlier post I said that I wrote him a lengthy email, pointing out all the problems I had with the transaction...and insisted on getting half my money back (I realise this is probably a pipe dream)...but anyway...yes, long email. THIS is the response I got from that email, cut and paste:

"Hi friend
you can check that
Mail Tracking

Outward Registered Letter

Destination - Australia
The item left Hong Kong for its destination on 29-Sep-2007
so pls don't worry, you will receive your item
would you pls wait for a few days patiently?
have a good day
roger"

DID HE EVEN READ THE EMAIL, OR ATTEMPT TO??? I JUST SENT THE ORIGINAL EMAIL BACK TO HIM AGAIN, WITH LARGE RED TEXT AT TOP OF PAGE, TELLING HIM I HAVE RECEIVED ITEM AND I'M NO HAPPY, AND TO READ THE EMAIL PROPERLY AND RESPOND ASAP....

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Hi koulourakia_girl!

Sounds unbeliveable. I think I'm heading down the same road with this guy!

Yesterday I posted negative feedback that was a link to this forum. Hopefully some will look around a little before they bid on those things! Because of the negative feedback, he emailed said:

hi my friend
i am very sorry to see the negaitve feedback you left on ebay, pls tell
me the problem of your item,so that can help you to solve it.
waiting for your reply!
a nice day~~
rogerlam

Well, I just sent him a message saying "The negative feedback is deserved. I have yet to recieve the player I purchased. I know the player you are sending is NOT 4GB as listed, your slow shipping, and your lie about sending it on September 19 have led me to post negative feedback. I'm contacting paypal today about the situation."

So now off to paypal for the story. This guy is unbelievable! He must be stopped! The sad thing is that I googled his name with "scam" before I bid, and nothing came up! I guess I should have expanded the search to include "fraud"!

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Heya!

Yeah, I did see your feedback, with the link - good idea! Hopefully people will actually go there and look. Maybe you should do a follow-up feedback underneath it, explain that he is a scammer...?

yeah, NOW google is coming up with his name + scam...too late for us...

Earlier this evening I reported a number of his items for BOTH false location AND false advertsing (i.e. 4GB)...It's very interesting - most of his MP3 players used to be listed as from AUST, USA, LCanada etc, with the free shipping incentive...now only a handful are listing that...most are identifying themselves as being from HK, and require shipping costs...although there are still close to a dozen "fake" location ones - and the bidding is getting high on them all...I was in dismay when I saw them, just felt so sorry for those potential "winners." unfortunately, people don't want to believe they're being ripped-off!!! I emailed a few of them, telling them to check the true size of their players, and at least three people replied, saying that theirs was indeed 4GB...but they said that only because they merely checked the "properties", not actually using the proper software...silly people...oh well, they'll learn the truth when they try to upload over 2GB onto their player...or when it starts crashing or freezing or whatever cos it needs re-formatting...all you can do is tell people once...

Whoa...long message...Hope it all works out for you, Rebecca :)

Brew Swillis 9th Oct 2007 12:57 pm

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

I sent some bidders, and bid winners, messages about his players being hacked....and only one person replied, and said that he has bought many, and he doesn't know, or care, if they are hacked because his "kids are having too much fun enjoying them". I then told him they would no longer work if they put over 2GB of information on them, and tried to play them. He didn't seem to care.

How many complaints does Ebay need to shut someone down, or at least investigate them? Maybe they don't care as long as they are getting their cut? :x

tandesmom 9th Oct 2007 1:54 pm

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

It stinks that people are so trusting! (I know I was one of them!) Eventually the guy will end up here because his kids player isn't working anymore, and his kids are going to be MAD! I've come to realize that within the past month rogerlam628's rating has gone from 98.8% to 98.2%. Hopefully with the decreasing rating will make more skeptical of dealing with this guy.

lattesurf 9th Oct 2007 5:32 pm

It's human nature to be complacent, most people don't go looking for a solution until they actually encounter the problem.

ebay won't bother with the complaints. As long as there is no court order or similar ordering his account to be shutdown, or fraud where he takes money but does not send anything, pretty much they won't do anything.

Most ebay buyers do not really notice the feedback percentage. 98.2% seems a pretty decent rating to most people, typical mindset of people would be to think that it is a high rating. Unless his rating drops to like 70% or continuous negatives come in, then perhaps others would take notice before bidding. An analogy would be like grades in school, a 98.2% score is excellent and does not need a second thought.

What most ebay buyers do not think about is 98.2% is the ratio of positive feedback to all of his feedback. So currently he about 8101 feedback score, which approximately means 8101/0.982=8250 total feedback. The additional 150 feedbacks are actually negative! Does not seem good to have that many negatives.

For me, to purchase from a seller with extremely high feedback score (eg in the thousands) needs to have a near to perfect rating, like 99.6% and above.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Hi all,

Since getting that un-answered (and let's be frank, useless stall-tactic) from our favourite friend, I have emailed him no less than four times...and it's only been two days since that time! I have not received a single reply...despite ALL of these later emails starting-off with Large (point 16 text)CAPITALISED RED letters telling him he needs to contact me and sort this problem out ASAP or I will go and file a dispute...I have heard nothing...he's ignoring me...no doubt hoping I will just give-up and go away...

I have just filed a complaint with PayPal over the matter.

Has anyone here had to go to this level? And if so, may I ask what the outcome was?

Cheers, Rebecca :)

lattesurf 11th Oct 2007 6:22 am

koulourakia_girl , usually a paypal dispute would get them to respond to you. They would most likely offer you 2 options.
1. Send back the player (at your own cost), for a full refund (usually just the purchase price).
2. Offer a partial refund, sometimes just a few dollars, or maybe more.

See what he offers you. But i'll highly recommend the partial refund offer if the refund amount is reasonable. Some others who chose the full refund by sending the players back do not see their money at the end of the day.

koulourakia_girl 11th Oct 2007 6:27 am

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Heya,

Yeah, I realise that....I am not willing to send the player back and take those chances...and it's ok for a 2GB I spose...

I am hoping for the partial refund - so the idea that he will at least respond now is nice...great customer service hey...I've said I want half money back...but I realise that's not going to happen - but it's a sign that I'm not gonna play nice...hehe Get the refund then leave the feedback mwa ha ha

Cheers for the response, Rebecca :)

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Heya,

Yeah Thanks - unfortunately not enough room on the feedback to leave every complaint I had! Even with the follow-up bit!

There was somebody who left feedback before mine (prior to me leaving feedback, I checked his feedbacks every 1-2 days...just to see what people were saying...and yeah, one person opened a PayPal dispute and because the item was listed as being something that is quite different from the listing, they got to keep the player PLUS get all their money back...so yeah...I just accepted the 15 bux, cos I was sick of it dragging out so long - it would take him 2-3 days to even reply to the PayPal dispute emails! But obviously, the fact the player is 2Gb not 4Gb is reason enough to get a full refund through PayPal...

When you lodge a dispute with ebay, it will automatically take you to lodge the complaint with paypal, since that is how the items are paid for...just make sure you don't settle for crap-all from him. As I previously mentioned, he will try and give you back as little as possible - unless you really chuck-up a stink (like I did)...There are numerous examples of unhappy customers in his feedback that received a meagre 4 dollars or so refund...not worth the hassle really - esp since it costs like a dollar to put any returned funds into your bank account!

My advice - hassle him to death about it - and let him know that if you do not receive a satisfactory amount in a certain period of time (decide how long you're gonna play these games with him)...you're gonna escalate the dispute to a claim - and point out that you know that there are people in the past who have done this to him and they got all their money back from PayPal without having to return the player...He seems to use the tactic of telling people that they are lucky to get a few dollars back and if they don't accept that they won't get anything...He only offered me 8 back to begin with (it was only that high cos I was continually on his back)...I insisted he make it at least 12, and then he offered me 15 (even though he sent me an email saying that he couldn't afford 12, and could give me 10...but that was all he could afford...I don't think he realised that I was the same person who lodged the PP dispute!)

He also tried to minimise his losses by claiming that I was lucky to have gotten the player for only 44 bux...it was worth much more than that...I emailed him back, telling him that this is the risk one runs when doing auctions (rather than buy it now's) on ebay - you don't always get the amount you would have liked...and the fact that he lost out by doing free postage was not my issue - and that if he had asked for postage, people would have known that he was not in Australia - so he was being very shifty and deceptive.

I have reported a number of his current items to ebay - as both Item misrepresentation and Item location misrepresentation - but I don't expect them to actually do anything - they're getting their cut...they don't care. The form you gotta fill out doesn't even let you specify the actual prob - e.g. Item is misrepresented...they only ask fr the item #, and you can't say he's lying about the memory size...it really sucks...and because people are still leaving pos feedback, others are gonna continue to buy from him - he's averaging like 5 neg feedback withdrawals per day - cos he's blackmailing people (I won't refund you a cent until you withdraw your bad feedback - heard this from countless people), and those who leave pos feedback are unaware (and at times don't care or too know-it-all) to actually download the MP3 utilities program to test the actual size!!! So they are contributing to his fraud! It's a harsh statement, I know, but essentially, it's true...I've emailed any of them, I'd say at least 40 of them, only like three have ever responded...

ah well this has turned out to be a longer response that I had intended...so I'll sign off now...It is amazing - the matter has now been sorted out for me, yet the effect it has had on me is not a good one - it just makes me so angry - this guy KNOWS what he is selling is fake, and is using bully tactics and the trusting nature of others (combined with the hacking) to make him appear genuine...

YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW ROGER!

well, another paragraph after I said I was ending the post...now I'm really gonna stop!

KG :)

rogerlam"

OK...it is clear he STILL hasn't worked out that I am the one who had opened a PayPal dispute on him - and whom he has ALREADY refunded $15!!! Please note the feedback I left him - especially the second bit, the follow-up comment I left...

"MISLED! 2GB NOT 4GB-HACKED!!!/Took 3wks2send NOT48hrs/BadCommunication&service."

Follow-up: "Wouldn't reply to emails til dispute with PayPal then begrudgingly refunded $15"

It states that he refunded me $15...yet he still has no idea!!!

Ooooh I just got an official mail from ebay, to inform me that Rog has filed a request to mutually withdraw feedback for the dispute...GOOD LUCK MATEY!!! Think I might email him back now and let him know that it'll be a cold day in hell. Let him leave me neg feedback...I don't care!

Hope you're all havin a great day, and winning your battles! KG :)

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Hi guys,

Sorry about all these posts...just thought that in the chance somebody recently conned by our friend makes their way to this board, they could use any tips they could get - what to expect, and how to deal with this con-artist...

Here's what I sent Rog, in response to his request for me to remove feedback:

"Roger,

You do not need to try and BLACKMAIL me...remove the feedback or I won't refund you any money...YOU HAVE ALREADY REFUNDED ME $15!!!!!! I LODGED A DISPUTE WITH PAYPAL AND RECEIVED THE REFUND A FEW DAYS AGO....

I Will NOT withdraw the Negative Feedback. What I have said is perfectly true, and I believe that other potential buyers need to know the Truth about the fake players you are selling - you are lying in your ebay listings and people deserve to know that you are conning them. if you look at teh Follow-up comment I posted on the Negative Feedback, you will see that I DID state that you refunded me $15...so you cannot say I have not been fair. I only wish you had also been fair - IT IS AGAINST EBAY POLICY TO:

1) SELL ITEMS SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOU ADVERTISE. (you advertise 4GB, they are hacked and only 2GB)
2) LIE ABOUT YOUR LOCATION (you say you are in Australia, London, Canada, USA, etc - YOU ARE IN HONG KONG!!!)
3) USE MISLEADING INFORMATION ON YOUR LISTING (you say items will be shipped in 48 hours - mine took you almost 3 WEEKS!!! If you do not have te item in stock, you have to say so on the listing!!!)

YOU ARE DEFRAUDING PEOPLE AND THOSE PEOPLE DESERVE TO KNOW WHAT SORT OF EXPERIENCE THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE IF THEY BUY ONE OF YOUR PRODUCTS............

I will NOT remove the Negative Feedback.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Good on you koulourakia_girl , I bought two of those players from Mr. Lam and I was worried when they wouldn't play WMA files..as I've never had a player before I thought it was my fault..I looked in the firmware and it says ...LG MP3 PLAYER SC91-OO2 CM60026 2007/09/11 VERSION V9.1.52
and in the memory info it says 4091M
I went tru the waiting period also..took two weeks to post to me..so I left a "neutral" feedback about this. I also sent "Roger" an e-mail asking y it showed format error when I tried to play WMA files..no reply. Then I looked in e-bay and he had dissapeared. But out of the blue I got an e-mail from him asking me to leave positive feedback as he has held back his feedback for me..BLACKMAIL!! and a offer of a set of ear plugs or cover for my "nice" MP3 player..well he can get stuffed...

well done for highlighting this guys dealings, sorry I didn't see it before I got sucked in

I never got satisfaction from the guy, I posted an earlier thread about him.

I opened a dispute with paypal, and they wanted me to send the item back for a partial refund (ie, no postage) had I done that I would have been out of pocket twice as much as I paid for the player.

The screen broke up in my pocket, and the battery holds charge for no more than 2 days. and it was only 2GB whereas it was advertised as 4GB and clearly has 4GB decal stickers applied to it.

Next time I'll buy a proper player from a bricks and mortar store.

Oh, and I've decided not to be worried about dodgy sellers blackmailing for feedback. If feedback is so important to them, it's their loss for stuffing up.

Unfortunately, I didn't realise the players were fake when I left positive feedback, but I did leave some pointed followups to them. eBay won't let you remove positive feedback.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

I cannot believe this!!!! It was October-November that I bought the player and had all my issues with this guy, and "resolved" them (I.e. he refunded $15, and left negf feedback for each other)...and I just got this email....

hi my friend
how have you been these days?i really hope everything will be OK with you. may you have a happy and prosperous new year first.
i am very sorry for the inconvenience to you, especially,i really very sorry that i left you a negative feedack,i am doing my best to improve my service in the new year.i am willing to make up the mistake i made in the last year.

I will withdraw the negative feedback for you. pls go to: Mutual Feedback Withdrawal to apply for one withdrawal link, I will do things for you soon once you give me the link.

pls accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience to you.
best wishes for you and your family!
rogerlam

To be honest, I think his newly-found goodwill has more to do with me contacting some of his new buyers from recent transactions (under a different ebay name)....he can't possibly have people going around and warning people about buying from him, and then giving them all the information and tools with which to get money back!

KG.

Re: Hacked player from eBay seller rogerlam628

Hi, i have also purchased a mp3 player from this seller, i waited 3 weeks to receive item and when i contatced seller he no longer had any stock, it turns out that he had placed the players for sale without any stock and it is also in hong kong not australia, i lodged a dispute with paypal and got a refund, the seller then proceded to send repaeted emails asking to remove negative feedback as he felt it was unfair, he sent emails from sep through to december and placed negative feedback on my profile telling ebay i should be kicked off. I have reported to ebay about the misrepresentation of item and the bullying and also that has ofered 4 usd for me to withdraw feedback (against ebay's rules). he has continued to send emails directly to my email and not throug ebay. beware of this seller he is a fraudulent seller and i have noticed that he is selling under 2 different names dance_wilson18 and rogerlam628. beware
