Re: Seller portofino168 sells 1gb hacked to 4gb, beware.
I did send off an email to this seller
Quote:
have just received the MP4 player purchased from this auction. The player is "SIGNIFICANTLY NOT AS DESCRIBED" The player is only a 1GB player, which has been hacked to appear like a 4GB Player. I have NOT left eBay feedback yet, nor have I opened a claim with PayPal, or filed a "significantly not as described" claim with eBay. I wanted to contact you first, to see if this problem can be worked out.
The player is not totally unusable. However, the street value is only about $25 or so for a 1GB, and not the $37 which I paid for it.

I replied back that I would keep the player, and that $15 refund was acceptable to me.
$25 shipped cost (for me) on a good working 1GB player is very acceptable (yes, I did want a 4GB, but this 1GB is much more responsive than the sluggish true 4GB I also have). I have a question for the other board members. What should I do about feedback? I have looked at this sellers feedback, and there are several 4GB fraud ratings. I have also looked at the items he has for sale, and now all of them are listed as 1GB.
So I have a quandary, and that is on what feedback to leave this? I would like to hear from others about this.
The player was certainly hacked, that is a given. The player was sold well below what a true 4GB would sell for ($37 USD delivered). Now (for me, but unknown for others scammed), the price has (hopefully) been modified down to $25 USD delivered. In some ways I want to believe the seller. I do not see him with 4GB scam units for sale any more, and that makes me believe he is not a true fraud (but again, I can not say for certain). How would others handle this?
