Default New eBay seller selling hacked 4Gb players - exhallyeb

Ebay seller: exhallyeb (listed as based in Hong Kong)

Selling 4Gb players which after checking are really under 1Gb (since when does FAT formatted drives go over 2Gb)!

Hynix / samsung A514D3AD
S1 Mp3 player Wilson Co Ltd
with firmware 9.1.52

This seller maybe quite new but with feedback scores over 4350 he only seems to be selling these units.

Trying to get a refund from the sellar but since they offer "free p&p" I will have to pay out again to ship it back and then be left wondering if i will ever see the original money or the return postage.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Ask the seller for a partial refund. The seller will offer you 10 to 15 dollars off the price.

Do not return the product. A big part of the scam is for a seller to say the product was never received.

If you file a claim with eBay for the item not being as described, you will have to return the product and you will need to get delivery confirmation. But, sellers get around the delivery confirmation by saying to eBay, "the item was never received. Mail fraud big in China".

That is all it takes. eBay's past descisions have been in favor of the seller when a seller used that line. eBay will then close the dispute and you will get nothing.

Go for the partial refund. Also, the seller may try to extort a postive feedback from you by saying, "I give refund, you give good feedback". eBay does NOT consider that to be feedback extortion even though we all know it is.

Go for the partial refund. Most people have really good success with it.

eBay's Definition of Feedback Extortion - Its a joke.

Many thanks for that info - much appreciated.

After using info from the forums I went to teh selalr and he has offered me 7.00 UK pounds refund via paypal - considering it was 19.00 incl p&p I am quite happy with that.

I will wait until I have the refund before giving any feedback though!

Fingers crossed.

Hi CUKIO34,

I would strongly suggest against loading another firmware as there is a high chance you can 'kill' your player by putting on an incompatible firmware.

If you FORMAT your player, you will have better success at removing the memory hack than trying to load another firmware.

Have to agree - do not change the firmware!!!!

Instead connect the mp3 player to your pc with the USB cable you got with the player.

On the pc you will see the player as a "removable drive" rigth click on this and choose the Format option.

I did this and chose Fat32 - my player was then reformatted with the correct 1Gb file layout and i can now copy as many files as i like to the player - obviously if you try copying over the 1gb limit windows will tell you there is not enought free space etc.

In all not a bad player just a pity it is not the 4Gb i paid for.

I bought one from the same seller and found the problem that I cannot scroll/navigate through my various folder albums. I have just reformatted with Fat 32 which shows I have a 3.99 GB player. After formating it still shows it as a 3.99 GB player.

This seller seems not to be trading on Ebay anymore.
