Default Buying RAM From eBay sellers: fastmemoryman and thememorypro

This post is off topic but I think it will be could to make people aware of these problems.

First of all I purchased ram from www.emartbuy.com, they trade on eBay as fastmemoryman and it seems they scam on eBay not just on there website.

I never got any e-mail to say it had been shipped or anything- I do expect this. After a couple of e-mails I get an auto-response saying items are sent the same day as payment received. I then e-mail them to ask them if they had definitely sent it & i got no reply. I then e-mailed them and asked for a full refund and they send sorry we tried to stop your package but we sent it out. I also purchased something else from the USA that was sent for like $1.80 USD a couple of days after I purchased that and that already had arrived. I then eventually started a PayPal dispute and then within a few days I got a full refund after being pretty harsh.

Now for the second incident, I purchased of the eBay user: thememorypro, the ram was 512MB PC3200 DDR400 and it was sold as 100% compatible. I know a lot about computers so I know about anti-static pre-cautions + I was wearing my anti-static wrist strap. When I put the ram in my computer the motherboard just beeped and it couldn't boot up or even get to the P.O.S.T screen indicating the ram was faulty. I then sent him a message and got no reply. Eventually he sent an auto-response to send it to an address which was different to what was on the Address Label on the mailer bag + different to his eBay address. I then asked him this I have to pay to send it back and would he pay to send it back to me- guess what, no response! So I started a PayPal dispute and it has been like 10 days and he has still not replied. I can't be bothered waiting and wasting more time so I escalated the claim to PayPal. I am sure I will get the full refund after PayPal review my case.

Now i wish I had purchased locally but anyway, I should be getting a full refund from both cases.

Hi nzer_4_lyf,

Thanks for letting us know.
I have moved your post into the "Bad Sellers/Blacklist" section of the forum so hopefully if someone does a Google search they will stumble on these two bad traders.

There is always a risk factor involved when buying from eBay and overseas sellers.

Personally, if it's something I can get easily here, ie: RAM, I would buy it from NZ instead. Try going to www.pbtech.co.nz as they have some really good prices for RAM, or www.pricespy.co.nz to find comparisons.
