[solved] Mp4nation.net

Ok here is the story:

I ordered a generic onda player 4gb which was send on 27 February 2008 at mp4nation.net. I received it some days later (about eight), so that was nice. But when I hooked the player onto my computer I was getting all kinds of error messages. It later was clear that the player was actually a 2gb one, so they send me a hacked player. Ofcourse, mp4nation.net could not be hold responsible for this, but fact is that I received a hacked player.

When I mailed this story to Mp4nation they gave me 2 options;
- send the player back
- get a cash refund

I made the decision to send the player back to them. I ordered a new (different) player. After some e-mail correspondence (fyi they e-mailed back pretty fast, 1-2 days), they had send (they said) the player on the 29th of March. But as you may have guessed, I didn't received it untill now.

Ok, so you will say, did you contact them?? Ofcourse:

send a mail on 16 april -> question about shipping number
response 18 april -> player already send, no shipping number included in mail

send a mail on 24 april -> asked for the shipping number again
no response

send a mail on 5 May -> asked for shipping numer again
no response

send a mail on 27 may -> regarding what the hell is going on
no response

Conclusion: mp4nation.net is investigation thoroughly, or they are a bunch of scammers. At their forum there are also some posts about people who are waiting several months for their players (mainly players which are send back).

Beware: A lot of topics are deleted from the forum. My post about the late delivery was also deleted, understandably companies want to control bad news. The last few days I was checking the forum, and a lot of posts about players that were shipped back, and people were having trouble contacting mp4nation.net since were deleted. Think about that.

Note: Chinese manufacturers are not that fond of quality, better buy a player for a few bucks more at an official retailer and get quality equipment in stead of low price trouble! (but that's just my two cents)

Thanks for the heads up on this.

As we are independent of mp4nation, we are unaware of this.

Did they ever send you a TRACKING NUMBER when they sent the player? Perhaps customs has held onto it for some reason? What are your customs law like over there on international packages/orders?

Hi,

The first time they send me the hacked player, a tracking number was included.

The second time they send me a replacement player, they didn't send a tracking number. I asked for this about three times by mail, but didn't get a reply.

I think customs wouldn't hold the player for more than one month.

Re: Fellow Dutchman beware of MP4NATION.NET

Ok,

today I got a reply finally.
The information on the mail was that they didn't send the player, I could choose between a refund and store credit. I ordered store credit and choose a new player, got an additional 10% on top of the money I already paid. So that was nice.

But I didn't receive the player yet, it has to be send.
I will post a message here as soon as I have received the player.

madhoax unfortunately customer emails are taking longer to be replied simply because i am in China a lot these days and have less time to dedicate to replies, we do have a person to reply to simple questions with generic response, but things more specific that i need to look at have been taking longer to reply to.

Your is such a case. Also you didn't have a hacked player, your memory module was correct but corrupted.

As for the forum posts, anything order specific we ask to be sent by email, we do remove posts when we get double emails with the same message and such and also when stuff has been resolved.

Ok, but I would have caused less frustration if you had e-mailed me that a reply could take some time. I am waiting for 2 months now with almost no information about what is going on. I was told that a player would be shipped in 2 days time, now I know the player hasn't been shipped. I understand that the investigation can take some time, but come on, 2 months is a really long time. Nontheless I'm happy with the solution offered, I only hope that this time it won't take so long with the store credit.

I'm aware of this now. Sounds logical.

Re: Mp4nation.net

Small update:

after some mail correspondence I got store credit + 10%.
Today I got a mail that my new player has been shipped out, so I hope to receive it next week.

Fact is that I had to wait from 29th March untill now. But overall I'm happy with the service provided, I even got a new Nationite S:Flow player, which has a great touchscreen.

Admin: I don't think mp4nation belongs in this blacklist topic. They have been quite slow with replying, but in no way they are scammers. Maybe this topic should be moved/deleted?

Thanks for the update Madhoax.

Glad you're getting somewhere with a resolution.

Keep us updated on the progress. It's good to hear feedback from customers about MP4Nation, good or bad.
