Re: My new MP4 - Is it real?
1. I Verified the Chip, and it is a 4 GB flash memory chip. (Specifications 32Gbit / 8 Bit) = 4 GBytes.
2. For your MP3 you might have to put I think there is a Maximum of 60 - 70 files per folder, so don't put all your music in one folder, make multiple folders and move them to a new folder and try the ones that gave you file format error again. Sound like you got a 4 GB COBY CLONE, but should still work as a MP3 player and Movie player. The firmware will be different so you might want to AVOID flashing the device with original COBY firmware. If you got a CD with the unit, you might want to check that for the firmware, but use that only in an emergency. You can try to return it, but no guarantees. If you paid 50 bucks for it, it may cost more to return it than to keep it. |

2 - There's no firmware file on the CD... :\ 3 - This is a counterfeit, hacked, fake device! :\ I opened a dispute on paypal. But the guy don't want to refund me... he wants me to return the device! If I return the device the person who might have problems is me because export FAKE, Counterfeit... whatever, devices is a CRIME! And I don't want problems! Nick of this guy on ebay: digital-e.hk |
Thanks for letting us know on the progress WordsVsPain.
This is the FIRST Rockchip player I've heard of that has been hacked!! So this is a real surprise to me. Make sure you post NEGATIVE feedback about him in the auction so others know what he's done and scammed you. Good luck with the dispute and post us the results. |

PS - I read someone who made a dispute on paypal and I took some sentences to use! :) |
now i am not completely convinced this is "hacked memory" and more convinved it is corrupted/damaged memory
i have nano clone that i gave to a mate of mine, all was ok with the 4gb untill after a while similar things were happening, files corrupted, not showing etc, errors opening. This player was definately 4gb, but the memory had become corrupted and took it to windows to find and fi errors, it found many bad segments have you had a go at error checking the memory at all either way the player is duff and you are right to not send it back without a refund first and also it does seem to be a fake coby |
Re: Hacked Rockchip player from digital-e.hk
makd511's got a good point.
Try following the steps in this Knowledge Base --> How to: Perform a scan disk and repair bad sectors. See if that helps fix the problem. |

Anyway Coby is a registered brand! So this is a Fraudulent Copy! (because coby DOES NOT make this model with 4GB) And about the chip, it's easy to print whatever you want to print out there! |
You are on the wrong way. I bought approximately 20 pcs. of this player from digital-e.hk, and tested some of them. All tested players have real 4GB memory, what I copied to them, I could read back from the entire area of the memory. That's not a surprise, because RockChip players can not be hacked. You shouldn't bawl here, if you don't know how can a hacked memory be verified. Your playing problems caused by incompatibility, or you simply have a defective item.
In the other hand, that's a fact, Coby provides these players actually with 2GB memory. All the 4GB players I have received, have a unique serial number labelled on the back side, what also can be a fake of course. I think so, these 4GB players made by the same manufactory like the official Coby MP-805s, but the company will launch them later. Coby MP-805 is virtually a no-name brand. Who would counterfeit a no-name thing? |

When you use a registered brand do sell something that does not exist you have a nice FRAUD, and CRIME. incompatibility? what? two persons, 5 diferent Operating Systems? "All the 4GB players I have received, have a unique serial number labelled on the back side, what also can be a fake of course. I think so, these 4GB players made by the same manufactory like the official Coby MP-805s, but the company will launch them later." Yeah... and I'm Santa... Cmon... PS - When I store more than 2Gb the files become corrupt... PS2 - "because RockChip players can not be hacked" - everything can be hacked... manipulated etc... |
