Hacked Rockchip player from digital-e.hk

I bought this mp4 player:

http://i21.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/f3/1f/8fb1_1.JPG

Behind you can read:

Brand: Coby
4Gb
MP805-4G

I opened my player and saw:

a Hynix chip: HY27UV08BG5M
and a Rockchip chip: RK2608A

Is this real 4gb?

FAKE! FAKE! FAKE!

I bought it from from eBay My World: digital-e.hk.

There should have a worldwide code for repair, and looked as never been used, i only know the two points to check if it is real.

should be fine, there have been no cases of hacked memory in rockchip players so all will be well

happy playing

I'm asking this because I stored 4Gb of music... and some of them don't play... :| (all mp3).

By the other hand, it's strange that the player can't play it because when I plug it to my computer winamp plays directly from its flash memory without problems!

:\

What type of files can't it play? What format are the files in?

Also, what is the error message you get when you try to play it?

only mp3 files

the stupid thing is for example:

I turn on my mp4 player... go to the explorer and try to open a file... "file format error" (or something like this). BUT if i play the previous album and a go to select the next songs all of them play well! Even that files that said "file format error" through the mp4 explorer menu!

I don't know if this is a hacked device! I visited coby website and realised that this model has only 2gb BUT (once again)... the chip inside the mp4 player is a hynix (4gb)...

All of this is so strange! I also got some stupid files when explorer trough windows (tipical when is a hacked device)...

Dunno... maybe a stupid firmware?

ty and reformat the memory, this may solve the problem, ill lose all data though, just do a normal windows format and see what it does,

also there are no hidden files on the player are there, no ini fils or anything llike that

does the system settings screen show 4gb memory size on the player itself

Did you buy it directly from Coby? Or from somewhere else? Have you tried contacting the seller and told them about it? It doesn't sound really strange that at first, you get "file format error" but the second time around, it plays ok. That tells me there's definitely something not quite right with it.
