Angry yf-tech is playing hardball

They're doing it with the wrong person. I wrote them to inform them that the players we ordered were memory-hacked and asked for a refund for them (plus the fact that one is now completely dead). I didn't touch the one that died, so that is in no way my doing.

They wrote me back asking if I had PROOF that my player was only 2gb instead of 8gb. I had proof, alright! I took two screenshots : one of chipgenius and one of the formatting tool that came with the player, showing that my max capacity is 1.9gb.

I have no idea what they'll say next, but I'll keep posting.

Default emails back and forth between yf-tech and me

Read from the bottom upwards :

Dear yf-tech,

I would be satisfied with a 50% refund. That would place the amount at $31.34 owed back to me. Thank you for your cooperation. I AM an honest man.

- way***

Dear way***,

"""Hi sorry for the problem. maybe our suppliers mistake.
are you able to keep and use it and we refund you 50% for the problem? This can save a shipping and time. Or could you please return for replace/refund. Or please tell us how to let you pleased. Hope you are pleased and give us 5 star Positive feedback(NOT 1 or 2 score pleaes), Please contact us if you have other trouble. With regards ""

yf-tech,您好!

The two photos I've included the urls for show that the player is truly 2gb, not 8gb. The chip part number is ATJ211X, which shows in the second screenshot. The first screenshot shows that I could only format it to be 1.9gb, not 8gb. Now you have your proof.

Dear way***,

hi friend
do you have some proof show it is 2gb ?
every item ,we test it when we sihpped out , they are works fine . why it is 2gb when arrive you ?
regards

- yf-tech

yf-tech,您好!

I am very dissatisfied with this deal. I am going to leave a negative followup on my feedback if I don't receive my money back without my having to go through the expense of shipping the players back. You're selling things that are not what are advertised, and this is not good business. I am keeping the fraudulent merchandise, but I expect at least a refund for the one that broke down. The two memory-hacked ones will wind up in a comment on feedback.

- way***

Dear way***,

"hi friend
thanks your email. we will refund you 10 days later when we received your item, email us then ,ok?
regards "

- yf-tech

yf-tech,您好!

I have discovered that the other two players, which still work, really have hacked memory chips. I've tested with h2testw.exe and a visual inspection of the flash memory chip. The serial number of the chip is for 2GB, not 8GB. I will not ship these items back, but I ask for a refund on them, as they were not what were advertised. We paid $20.89 each for the players. One no longer works at all, and two are hacked. Please refund the full amount of $62.67.

Thanks for this. Very interesting read.

I like how you started off with a full refund, then they offered 50% refund, but still require you to post POSITIVE feedback?! Clearly a fraudent seller and you can see he's done this in the past.

Why don't you try for 75% as one is dead?
What feedback are you going to post after you get the refund by the way?

Also, do you have details of the auction so we can also post it here?

I had hastily left feedback when we first tried out the players, before I knew they were hacked and before my sister's player died. I left them positive feedback, in which I complained that it didn't really play mp4s. I put a follow-up comment on my feedback. Here are the feedback and the comment :

  • Follow-up by way*** (Jan-16-10 07:01):

FRAUDULENT!!! 2GB HACKED MEMORY CHIPS. NOT 8GB, AS SHOWN.

I think it's too late to ask for 75% refund, since I agreed to 50%. They have yet to answer me on the amount due back to me, though, so this battle may not be over yet. I'll keep you posted!

Talking Got my 50% refund!!!

Click the image to open in full size.

I was surprised to see it show up as from "buyelectronicstore.com". I don't recall it saying TO them when I paid them, but I guess it probably did. I didn't pay much attention!

I'm happy that we got our 50% refund. Maybe I should have asked for 75%, but now we can afford to replace the unit that broke (not through these people, but in a local store!).

Have a great day, everybody!

Default yf-tech gave full refund

I too recently had a dealing with this seller and was directed to this site when my player would not play properly. Thanks to this site I advised the seller that the player was counterfeit and he (they) offered 50% . I refused and continued to hold out for full refund and if they wanted it back shipping cost to do so. They finally relented and gave me a full refund and told me I didn't need to send this back.

As hermyjack noticed his refund company name - that is how mine came also. Along with this the item shows as coming from Australia in the ebay listing but it was in fact shipped from Hong Kong.
