Hi everyone,
I've used Random.org's List Randomizer to get a winner out of random. What I did was put names of all 15 entries (in the order they were entered in), put them in Random.org's List Randomizer which creates a random list out of the 15 entries. The members's name who is at the top of the list from Randomizer (position #1) is the winner and the results are attached with this post. From Random.org's List Randomizer, the winner is: K N O B Thank you all for taking the time to enter into the competition! I will be running another competition shortly as well, so keep your eyes out for that soon as well. |
:oops:That's amazing!
I been having problems lately with my current player. I never won anything ever before in a competion. I'll post a review when I get the player. |
well done knob and well deserved too - i came here to actually cancel from the competition as i am not here much at all now and have no need for this player (i have a vx575 on the way) - but no need, all is done and wel done
welcome to the new chip race - sochip (SOKChip - very popular and actually used by several companies all rebranding the chip to their own factory names - make it very confusing) based and so far - un-hackable, encoded firmware - a pain in the booty for modding even the images UI, which cant be done, .. but good format support again, well done and admin, thanks for the comp makd511 |
Congratulations.
I was really hopping for a music player, but fair won is fair earned. Good Work. (Why does my post count always say 1? I've been on this site since 2006 and everytime I post, it says 1) |
Hi Jaygo,
There will be more competitions running this year and I hope to run it frequent so keep your eyes posted. I'll also find out why you only show up with one post (you've posted more than one post right? :)). |
Got the player today. Nice big screen, great for video, arrived safely from House of Dap.
Here's what you get:- http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...tola/ONDA3.jpg Extension cable for USB on the go. Onda earphones. Usb data cable. Nicely printed, but in Chinese only! user instructions Usb Charger Cable Fancy Onda Cleaning cloth. Will post more info when I try more things out |
Thanks knob for letting us know that the player has arrived fine!
Look forward to the review! |
Well this is more of video player than an audio player.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...tola/ONDA5.jpg It supports .srt subtitles if they are in the same folder and same name as the video. So far tested .mp4 ,.mkv and .avi all played no problem. Audio quality is good but there are one or 2 niggles with the interface. It recognises id3 tags but they get chopped off if they are too long, I like to see a scroll. No album art (should be standard by now) and the font is not good, but this what you get on all these chinese players. So far, Pros Good video support. Nice big screen. Good viewing angle. Seems good build quality. Good audio quality .srt subtitle support. Standard mini usb for charging and transfer Cons No album art. Usual poor font. Only English and Chinese language support Id3 don't scroll Not tested usb OTG yet or HDMI out (need to get a mini hdmi adapter!) I would recommend this for a video player, but if you are buying for audio then the interface is not good even though the sound quality is. I think this could be a great all round player if Onda had put a bit more effort into the firmware. I have quite an assortment of videos so I think this will be my main Video player now. Thanks Knob for the review!
Can you also do me a favour and put your review in a new post into the [General Discussion] --> [Reviews] section of the forum please? I think with the larger 4.3" screen it would be great video player (and more watchable than the 1.8" screen players for example). But yeh, I think it would also probably be too 'clunky' to be an audio player or something you want to carry with you to the gym or while jogging or bike riding....What do you think? You couldn't post any more pictures of that player could you? I would be interested to see the quality of casing build of the player as well as I can see the screen quality looks really good. |
good you got the player
i got hold of the vx575HD, more or less the same player but with higher res screen if you want the HDMI cable OWNTA have them for about $6 ish and they are quite fast does this player support remote?? if so they have some of those too i tested OTG on the 575 (both players using the sochip sc8600 chip) its a bit picky but can work for my tests the file support is better on the newer rockchips unfortunately, dues to the race to 1080p and above these player have not been updated by onda, pretty much left to rot now even though they are but a few months old, i doubt you will see anything happening firmware wise, there is a basic beta firmware on ondas site but thats been it for the last few months the state of the branded chinese players is a mess at the moment with new chips all claiming HD 1080p and more are coming out all over and thus players are being dropped before they hit the shelves, its worse than ever anyway, you won it, its free and vidoes will play well on it even though the 575 and 585 are the same chip the casing and UI are different so not sure where onda sourced these players from, on mine you can chooses doifferent audio tracks for videos or select to hide or show either external or embedded subs congtats |
Yeh, I agree. I have noticed that with the older MP4 players a few years ago, the players would be released and that's it! No more further updates to the firmware! Just get the player out the door, to the market and as long as it works, that's it.
They always advertise "firmware upgradable" but no new firmware gets released so it's pointless. I guess that's another big difference from a no-brand MP4 player from China to those branded players like Sony or iPods which do have firmware being released....... It's unfortunate but I guess it all comes down to $$$. Most of these "MP4 manufacturers" are essentially "MP4 assemblers". They just buy the chipset, boards, memory chips and casing from different other manufacturers and assemble them, then sell them on. So the chipsets are manufactured from somewhere else and to get it upgraded, they have to pay and spend more money on development. So why when they can spend it on a new model player instead? |
