Is there a way on how to fix my MPX player?

I have an MPX player. Recently, I've downloaded a firmware and it caused my player to malfunction. The problem is, I can't even turn it on...

What should I do?

Hi,

Sorry, I don't know the full answer to this as I haven't had a dead player from updating the firmware before.

However, here are some useful links to help you out.

http://www.s1mp3.org/en/docs_deadrec.php#top

Hop this helps. If I find more, I'll post it here for you.

Good luck.

Thanks,
Binh

Its actually not a dead player. It is still [technically] working [because it is still charging] but it acts like one.

It was removed during updating and now it is like an EMPTY SHELL. I can't make the computer detect my MPX Player!

Maybe you can make a software to make the computer detect the MPX Player even though it has a corrupted/no firmware.

Hi g3rmansh3ph3rd,

Oh, ok, sorry misread your post then and thought it was a dead player.

Can you actually use it to play MP3's etc.....? Does it boot up at all? Do you get any errors when booting up the player?

So you say the only problem is with your computer detecting the player? Other than that, everything is working ok???

Let me know,

Thanks,
Binh

Re: Is there a way on how to fix my MPX player?

The player does not boot up nor function as a flash disk. It seems like a dead player because the screen is TOTALLY BLANK!

I tried several methods [such as installing a Win98 driver for XP] but still, I can't make the

Technically, it still works because the charger turns green when I charge it [although the screen is blank].

My player is actually a dubbed 'mp4 player'. In reality, it is an Mp3 player with an AMV player. It has 1.2 TFT LCD and it most probably came from China.

I've upgraded my firmware before and it did not pose any problem before this happened.

Maybe you can reproduce this problem. Here's how it goes:
-Connect the Player to a computer (WinXP) using a USB Cable
-Download the firmware from the 1.2 LCD March 15 Firmware [or earlier]
-Use MP3 Upgrade tool to upgrade to that firmware
-Remove the USB cable from the computer when the "remove hardware" disappears
-if you can't turn it on and the computer cannot detect your player, then that is my problem... It seems that it is running as an empty shell

I've asked a manufacturer about this and they suggested:

1. Hold down the "ON" button for a long time while the player plugged in to the PC. See if it turns on then.

Try that and let me know how it goes?

Thanks,
Binh

Re: Is there a way on how to fix my MPX player?

Sorry!

My case is actually a DEAD player! It was caused by upgrading the firmware from march 15 but I removed the player too prematurely [since I thought that upgrading is done because it was indicated on my window]. I have just realized it when I clicked the link on the site that you have given me.

But the solution that is in there was for the mp3 player. I doubt that the specs shown is also for the mp4 player.

PS: I know how to turn on [or to turn off] the player. The problem was caused by an incomplete firmware.

My Mp4 player looks like this:
________
| ______ |
| | | |
| | | |
| -------- |]
| (x) |]
[_______]

I have read the 48pin tsop1 from the 'dead recovery guide' page. I don't know which side is which because there was no label [or indication] from the chip itself on where is no.1 or on which side should be grounded.
Anyway, here's my diagram from my chip:
(==) 2 normal IO legs (=) 2 Short IO Legs
24 - (legs) per side, trimmed down to 12 = (double legs) and magnified for short viewing

which side should I consider #1, and which side should I ground, and with what?

Sorry for the corrupted image, maybe you can get the picture even if the extra spaces were trimmed down.

Hi g3rmansh3ph3rd,

Sorry about the misunderstanding. Yes, I would imagine u know how to turn on/off the player. The step I mentioned in my earlier post was what the manufacturer said to do and thought why holding it down LONGER, it might make a difference.

Is there any chance you can see through a digital camera photo of your player with chip and board on it? The diagram is quite hard to read.

I do know someone who has had a similar problem to yours and has fixed it, so I will try to get them to help you out as well.

Thanks,
Binh

I have managed to fix the player now. I had difficulty before because I had difficulty understanding the page because its full of grammatical errors.

Well, thank you.
