Gil I have looked at both these files and I would say that CDT sd4284-h_v2.0_7-FM.fw is most definatly not suited to your player it is for a much smaller non LCD player so forget this one.

If windows is no longer recognizing your player you are going to have to open you player and short you chip to reset it.

Here is a walkthrough written by someone with the same chip as you of how they recovered their player

http://forum.s1mp3.org/viewtopic.php?t=2906

It includes links to downloads of the firmware you need to use. Do not use any of the ones you have downloaded already.

You need to do it again but use the firmware in this walkthrough not the ones you already have.

I think the ones you alredy have are not suited to your player.

Idon't find APU device ... I don't see nothing in the MP3 utility folder (Version 4.00)

And i don'y understand really what happened with SF1w ... because it's a soft to extract o repair a firmware ... not to send a firmware on a MP4 ... so maybe if i understand this ... it will be ok.

S1fwx.exe does not extract a full copy of the firmware some files are not copied. If when you flash your mpx with the incorrect firmware and the files that were not copied in the dump were replaced or damaged then your backup dump.bin is not going to fix it because it does not contain the files needed.

A full firmware file is different to a s1fwx.exe dump.

You need to get your player to a point where windows recognises it as an ADFU device then use the firmware in the walkthrough to flash it twice.
