mp4 nano lookalike not charging
Hi Binh, Donzai here from south africa again,
one of the players i sold is not charging and will not go on. i tested it before i sold it and it works fine. the client called me the next day and said he couldnt get it to charge, and it wont go on. i have the unit back and was wondering if you have ever had this problem? and if you managed to fix it... thanks and best regards, Donzai |

If you are definately sure you have tested it and it was working perfectly then, I would say the user has tried to update the player with an INCORRECT firmware and it has caused it to 'die'. Personally, I would put a clause in Warranty Policy to say "we will only replace a unit that is faulty in worksmanship and parts. We will not replace a unit if it has been misused, abused or incorrectly flashed with an incorrect firmware".... or something on those lines. This will cover your back. If you've read the 'dead players' section of this forum, you'll see how many people have unsuccessfully tried to flash their player but get a 'dead player' instead. But be certain that it was tested before you send it out to the user and it was in good working condition. If you can't turn it on and get to the menus or get just a blank background colour, then most likely the fault is from the customer's end by incorrectly flashing their player with the wrong firmware. |
My exact thought when I read the post.

Re: mp4 nano lookalike not charging
I also have a Nano lookalike thats just stopped working. I haven't changed the firmware and its been working ok for about a week. Stopped playing while I was using it on Friday and I can't get it to charge at all. I've tried on 4 different PC's desktops and laptops. :(

mambastu, sounds like a problem with your player you should contact your supplier.

Re: mp4 nano lookalike not charging
Thanks for the speedy reply, I've just e-mailed the seller to see what they say :)
Incidentally I did manage to get it to switch on for about 30 seconds after a couple of days of 'rest' and the display appeared to be in Chinese so I would guess that its somehow lost its memory. Still doesn't seem to be recognised or charged by any PC's. I managed to guess my way to the language selection screen and change it to English and also checked that it still had stuff on the firmware page before it died again. Starting to wish I had written down the firmware version incase I end up trying to do the reset/firmware upgrade thats mentioned in other threads. |
mambastu, Interesting the only thing I know of that causes a reset to the default Chinese language is a firmware flash. Check the cd that came with your player some brands include a copy of the firmware it will either be a .bin file or a .fw file about 5-7 mb in size.
I would not suggest trying to recover it until you have heard from the supplier as it may void any warrenty you may have. If you have no luck start a new post there are a lot of knowledgeable members on the site who can help. |
Re: mp4 nano lookalike not charging
Hi Binh,
thanks for advice. do you think if the problem was that he tried to upgrade firmware that i can somehow resurrect this thing from the dead? well, illl try anyway, and keep you posted of any updates... cheers |

It's abit tricky and not guaranteed to get the player back to it's original state. Read some of the articles in the [Dead Player] section as people have managed to successfully bring their player from the dead, but some were not perfect before the update, so bear that in mind. |
