XamleTT, If you are wanting to upload the file to the site go to the download section and and then upload by members section where you will see an upload button at the top of the page.

XamleTT

Thanks for sharing the firmware with us.
You can upload it according to tadad.
Also, I can upload to the site for you as well. It would be better if you did as it will make you as the author (gives you credit).

Also, if you can put a description of what the menu items are, that would be great. This is so that people can check to make sure it's the same as their player.

XamleTT,
How does your player look like. Maybe this firmware can work with my 512MB wilson player...haven't tried your firmware yet.

I used the s1res utility to look at images of the firmware but the images appear to be upside down.
Any idea of why this might be?...Will it cause problems if I try to upgrade with this firmware?

The pictures of your firmware look pretty much similar to the one I had originally in my player (which is dead now). In fact, the ending sequence and screensaver images are exactly the same...hopefully it will work with my mpx.

Thanx for uploading the firmware.

For sure it is "SONY" on the enclosure, and in the logo. On the paper box it has SONY.net links

3. The MENU of this 512MB device is as follows: (exactly as written on the screen)
-Movie
-Mp3
-FM Radio
-Rec Play
-Record
-Brow pics
-E-docs
-Setup
-Game

(as I have noticed, mine does not have Telephone Book)

P.S.
Device has built-in speaker and two phones sockets 3.5mm.
It is nice.
I have Qtek s100 for mobile email, gprs and so on. But I do not watch and listen through Qtek.
I have listened to russian underground music all day long. I think I have to dump the device to death. Otherwise they will decide that this old dude with black yelling box on his neck are slightly going mad

XamleTT, I upgraded my 512 MB player with your firmware...and though it didn't work completely, I can now play mp3's, record, and listen to fm with a blank blue screen.

My original firmware was similar to yours so I know my way around the menus even though I can't see anything...but I'd sure say it is kinda hard to operate the player without looking at the screen.

Anywayz, I just wanted to say thanks for your firmware...cause my player had been completely dead for about 6 months but now I can at least listen to mp3 :P

tadad1, do you know if there's a way to modify the firmware so that I can get my lcd to display the menus and such? The firmware is pretty much similar to my original...so is there a way to modify it slightly to work completely with my player?

Will the s1res utility help?...

arish_06, the only files that can be modified with s1res are the images (menus, boot screens, etc.) and the text strings. If you are not getting any menu's now I'm affraid changing these will not help.

The fact that your firmware has got your player going again would indicate that the version is right but the player is not. To explain, my firmware is 3.5.35, I have downloade many versions of this FW and examined them in s1res and they have a few different menu structures for example my main menu images are 3 images a top image, side image and a main icon image when combined they make a full screen image. I have found others that just use one single full screen image.
My thoughts are that the firmware you are currently using although compatible is using a different menu image system than your player is expecting and so the menus are not showing because they are not the right format.

I suggest you examin the one you are currently using with s1res and and then download some others and find one that is the same version but has a different menu system of images and try it.

Tadad1, thanx for your response. By the way, I did look at the pictures of the firmware and it turns out it has full image menus, just like mine used to have. Even the menu icons, fm screen, and most other icons such as amv icon, lyric icon, battery icon, etc. look exactly the same size and shape.

I know it doesn't necessarily mean that the images should work with my player because...like you said...different players use different combinations of small images to create full screen images.

But I wonder why I get a completely blank bluish sceen. Shouldn't some pictures show up at least?...or do you know if there's any utilities to modify or mix firmware files to try to make it compatible with players?...probably not huh 8)

But I am glad the buttons work exactly the same as they used to with my previous firmware
