Sreejith51, how does your player look like?

You said the fw upgrade was successful after you shorted the chip. Does this mean your player works now...not a dead screen?

arish_06 7th Jun 2006 11:27 am

sreejith51, I may be wrong but this could mean that your chip got damaged permanently from the shorting. As a result, your player may always be recognized as an ADFU device and the mp3 untilities would start up in recover mode even after you try to recover it with various firmwares.

But if your player is functioning properly after the recovery you said you did, then the problem may be something else...

Let me know if your player works and describe your player (what was the original firmware, etc.)

dear arish_06
my player is screen is blank now . but when i started to upgrade with firm ware its led screen was bright. after the completion of fw upgrade windows detecting it as an adfu device.http://www.mympxplayer.com/album_thu....php?pic_id=24(almost like this). please help me.

arish_06 7th Jun 2006 11:51 am

sreejith51, if you can, try shorting it again and then recover it with any firmware of similar version to your original (i.e. 3.2.16, 3.2.13, etc.).
Or if your mp3 utilities cd has a backup firmware on it as a .fw file, try using that.

Also, can you describe exactly how did you short the pins the first time. Maybe you accidently cross-touched the wrong pins or something...

arish_06 7th Jun 2006 12:14 pm

sreejith51, the reason your player is detected as an "ADFU Server" is because short-circuiting is temporarily supposed to corrupt the firmware data in the memory chip.

Normally, once you recover it and format the memory, the player is no longer recognized as an ADFU server.

But yours keeps on being recognized as ADFU, which means that the errors that were supposed to be temporary in your memory chip don't get fixed completely...so my guess is something went wrong when you shorted the pins.

I can't guarantee you that this is the problem but most likely, your memory chip has been damaged.

I wonder if there's a way to fix that...maybe replacing the memory chip is the only solution.

arish_06 7th Jun 2006 12:19 pm

...on second thoughts, maybe you are trying to recover your player with uncompatible firmwares.

What was your original firmware version if you know?

For instance, if your player was built for 3.5.35 firmware, upgrading with 3.2.16 can kill your player and maybe cause it to be recognized as an ADFU device again.

Make sure that the first two numbers of the firmware that you're trying to use to recover matches with the first two numbers of your original firmware version.

For example, if you have a 3.2.16, use 3.2.13, 3.2.16, etc. and don't use 3.5.35, 3.0.45, etc.

tadad1 7th Jun 2006 3:31 pm

sreejith51, If your player is being seen as an ADFU device it is in recovery mode and waiting for you to upload the firmware. The firmware you upload need to be a full firmware not a backup dump.bin a backup dump is not a full version some files are not extracted.

arish_06 7th Jun 2006 9:22 pm

sreejith51, I believe tadad1 is right...maybe you were using a dump firmware.

If yes, then you can go ahead and forget what I said about your memory being damaged and all.

Sorry if I scared ya even more...lol

Thanks Tadad1...by the way just to end my doubts, do you think short circuiting can damage the memory permanantly...don't know where I got this idea but heard it somewhere.

tadad1 7th Jun 2006 11:08 pm

arish_06, Considering that you can fry a memory chip just by handling it while statically charged I would imagine that shorting it while current is flowing through it has good chance of sending it to heaven. That said if my player were dead and it was the only option to bring it back to life I would give it a go.

Re: please help me

:? Dear arish_06,tadad1
i dont have the .fw version of my original fw. i have only .bin version. i found from a site that my original version is 3.2.16. can you please send me the original recovery fw. i have been trying with3.5.35&3.35.37. but one time igot the result. the first time when i tried to up grade with 3.5.35.bin mp3 player utilities showed " FIRMWAREUPGRADE WAS SUCCESSFULL". Then i restarted my player. then windows detected it as a flash drive. but memory was ony 350 kb. the i formatted my player as instructed in the user manual. then the memory increased to 105 mb. then i upgraded it with the fw that i have back uped earlier from the player. the again display went dead and windows failed to detect my player. i repeated the shorting steps and at last windows detected it as adfu again. then only i came to know that the original version of my fw was 3.2.16.fw. can any one send that link to me.pleeeeeeeease.

thank you for the helps and supports. :?

tadad1 8th Jun 2006 4:53 am

sreejith51, the only full firmware I have is 3.2.13, it is from a copy of a cd that I found on a Chinese web site and has 2 versions with or without FM Radio. If you want to give it a try I will upload it to Rapidshare for you.

Re: please help me

:) yea, tadad1 ,if you upload it and send me a link it will be very helpful for me. please upload it and send me a link. Once again thankyou for your helps. :)

tadad1 8th Jun 2006 5:58 am

sreejith51, here is the link
http://rapidshare.de/files/22528642/...ull_CD.7z.html

I hope it helps. :)

arish_06 8th Jun 2006 10:58 am

sreejith51, if the firmware tadad1 gave you doesn't seem to work, try the firmwares from s1mp3.org if you haven't already.

There's a bunch of 3.2.16 firmwares...maybe you can find one that works.

Here's the link:
http://s1mp3.org/en/downloads_fw.php...140873da81bd70

It would be easier if you could obtain your board id and try to match it with the firmwares on the site but if you don't wanna open up your player, just choose various firmwares and see if you can at least get it out of recover state and fix your memory issue.

Let us know how it goes.

arish_06 9th Jun 2006 10:50 am

hmmmm...the memory decrease seems pretty weird.
Just roughly how many times have you formatted your player if you have since you purchased it?

If you used a firmware from s1mp3.org, which one did you use? Maybe the firmware's taking up some memory. Check the size of that firmware? ...well it shouldn't be upto 100MB so I am pretty sure that's not the problem.

Maybe the firmware you're using is designed for 128MB player so it is reporting back memory around 100MB.

Are you talking about the dump firmware that was giving you trouble before?
If yes, then upgrading your player with that won't help because it may put it back to recover state.

For now, keep trying with similar firmwares and see if you can find one that fixes the problem.
