If you only got it a week ago and it gives you a blue screen upon starting, it doesn't sound good.

What you can try to do is FORMAT your player.

Let me know if that works or not.
Otherwise since you've only had it a week, you can try to take it back from who u bought it from as it shouldn't do that really.

Hi admin
thanks for the reply. i tried formatting the mp4 player but still no luck and i tried different firmware. I was trying to contact the person i bought it of but no reply and i don,t think he would take it back after formatting and changing firmware i will just take the loss. oh another stupid thing i forgot to do was backup my original firmware. i think it was the new firmware v3.5.37
cheers

Soggy sounds like your firmware may be corrupt, there are some 3.5.37 versions in the Download/Firmware section that might help.

Good luck M8

Hi tadad1
i tried them no luck thanks anyway. do you know anything else i could do?

tadad1 10th Jun 2006 7:14 am

Hey soggy, sorry I have never had such a problem myself so can not offer you any wisdom from experience, I can only suggest you search the forums here and at s1mp3.org. I have read of people recovering there players, but it seems to be a long task.

Good Luck soggy and let us know if you win.

soggy, after posting this I notice skaterfou has just recovered his player from blue screen and has left a link to the firmware he used.

soggy, from the looks of the ebay picture, I think we are both looking for the exact same firmware even though our players are completely different.

If your player is completely dead now, you can try the firmware for 2" player posted by xamleTT even though your player is 1.5". The firmware appears exactly the same as the screen shot you posted but it is designed for 2" players...it may enable only partial funtionality.

http://www.obdtool.org/sm1p3v3_2_1_6.rar
WARNING: it is version 3.2.16. If you are sure you didn't have 3.2.16, then don't upgrade with the firmware I am giving or else it will kill your player and you'll have to open it up to short circuit.
(The ebay pictures sometimes are not the exact description of the player)

If I am correct about us having the same original firmware, then you most probably will get a blue screen but I am pretty sure it can allow you to listen to mp3, record, listen to fm, save files, etc...you'll have to operate without looking at the screen...just like I am doing now with my 512MB player.

***But first, try contacting your seller and ask him for original firmware. Also check to see if you have a backup firmware file on your mp3 utilities cd.

Hope this helps
