Default wrong firmware and now player is staying at fw update screen

I tried to update firmware with one of the skins from your site with your mp3 upgrade tool and the program said it was a mismatch and ever since my mp3/video player has been on its firmware upgrade screen ever since and it does not function AT ALL. When plugged into computer, computer now does not recognize it and the mp3 upgrade tool can not find the device either. When taken off the usb cord the player stays at the same screen and can not even turn on or off. I made a backup but I have no idea now how to put the backup back on the mp3 player. PLEASE HELP ME. I just got this today after waiting weeks and I wanted to change the ugly screen and now I just have a bunch of problems with this after spending $90.... :x

for image of the screen go to:

david, from your picture, it looks like you tried upgrading your version 3.5.35 player with a 3.2.16 firmware..which might have been the problem. (I have the same 3.5.35 flower firmware but in a different player by the way). Upgrade will only work if you have a firmware of the same version and correct format.

Here's one option:
Since your player's completely frozen try opening it and short-circuiting it.
Here's a guide if you need:

Then recover with your backed up firmware.

David, seems like you didn't like the flower theme (I didn't either).
I have upgraded to a 3.5.35 firmware from s1mp3.org that matches the exact same format of the flower 3.3.35 firmware.

But first the important part is that you get your player working again...then you can change the theme.

Let me know if you need further help.

david, I have the same player or at least it looks the same. I restored it in under 30 minutes. I have outlined how I did this along with links to the firmware I used in this post.

Good luck.

david, Excellent news, having that backup makes the whole process so much easier. Well done.

Regarding themes the best and safest thing to do is find a theme you like and use s1res to load the images into your own firmware, that way you are not going to run into problems. If the theme is in a firmware file you can extract the images with s1res.

You can find a tutorial for s1res in the knowledge base.

Cheers.
