Screen blank with only backlights on

My player went blank after upgrading firmware to 3.5.35.

How can I fix this problem?

tadad1 16th Jun 2006 9:08 pm

yhap2003,
What version was your original firmware, and did you make a backup before you upgraded to 3.5.35?

When you connect your player into your PC is it recognised?

yhap2003 16th Jun 2006 9:11 pm

Re: Screen blank with only backlights on

First it would not recognized it because a wire was lose in the USB wire. But I fixed that, I think its was somthing like 2006-3-15 for the fireware. That's all I can remember seeing.

It's an mp4 digital player like this one:

yhap2003,
Not knowing your original firmware is going to be tough.

What has happened is the firmware you upgraded to is not compatible with your player which is why it is not working. To fix it you need to find the right firmware for you player.

I suggest you download as many firmware as you can find and using s1res (you will find it in the Download\Tools section) open them and look at the images they contain for menus, backgrounds, boot screens etc. Ones you find that look the same put aside ones that look different delete.

Next you are going to have to try the various firmware you have that match image wise, but there is a good chance things are going to get worse before they get better as your player may end up not being recognised by your PC in which case you will have to follow the dead player recovery process.

I have outlined how I have done this in a previous post along with some links to firmware that may be helpful.

Sorry but there is not a lot more advise I can give you, Good luck.

Ok, I found my fireware. But when I try to upgrade the fireware using MP3 Player fireware upgrading tool, it give me the message saying "Unknown Flash Error!"

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware to version 2006-03-13 ACT_V3.5.35 but I'm getting "invalid upgrade firmware file".

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 8:17 am

yhap2003, What have you done so far?

yhap2003 17th Jun 2006 8:54 am

Right now i'm trying to get out of recovery mode. Every firmware I select gives me "invalid upgrade firmware file"

I can't seem to get out of recovery state. Please help.

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 9:34 am

yhap2003, Either you are trying to update with the wrong firmware or you are using firmware dumps which are not full firmware files.

Try this one it is a full firmware that I have used to recover in the past:

http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...6364da93f003b1

If it installs it wil not fully recover your player but you should be able to then apply one of the ones you have been trying.

yhap2003 17th Jun 2006 9:46 am

Did that, but now I get this erro"Removable Disk is Busy"

Re: Screen blank with only backlights on

I believe, I have the same player as you.
My player was shipped with firmware 3.5.37, has a size of 1GB.

I can send you my firmware, if you like!

Sure thing, it's worth a try because right now my situation doesn't look that good.

I can see the menu but the screen is still dark with backlights on and I can't get it to show in normal color for some reason. And also the tx and graphics are mirrored.

Re: Screen blank with only backlights on

Compare my player with your player !!!

yhap2003 17th Jun 2006 2:20 pm

Only the screen different. The player is exact. Only the screen image differers. Mine had a lotus flower.

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 6:08 pm

yhap2003, Without having a backup you are going to have to keep trying different firmware that have the Lotus Flower theme until you find one compatible. Stick with 3.5.37 and 3.5.35 versions if they install on your player.

yhap2003 17th Jun 2006 6:47 pm

I'm just waiting for jfhb to send me his/her fireware to try.

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 8:00 pm

yhap2003, If his menus are as shown above and yours was Lotus Flower it will not fix your problem. The image structure on this firmware is totally different to yours. This menu uses one 128x128 .bmp while yours is made up of 3 separate images, the icon, top and side.

I have created 2 .bin files that may help, both have have the flower theme for 1.5 screens and have been merged with full version firmware.
3.5.37merged.bin
3.5.35merged.bin

yhap2003 17th Jun 2006 8:02 pm

Thank you very, much. I will see what I can do right now.

It still did solve my problem :D I have just 2 problem right now.

1. The screen is white, I have to tilt my screen to see the menu
2. The screen is mirrored (Like an image in the mirror)

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 8:22 pm

Which one worked for you?

yhap2003 17th Jun 2006 8:24 pm

3.5.37merged.bin

After using that, i get these two problem left:

1. The screen is white, I have to tilt my screen to see the menu
2. The screen is mirrored (Like an image in the mirror)

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 8:30 pm

yhap2003, Have you tried one called 3.5.37v2.1b FM.fw

yhap2003 17th Jun 2006 8:31 pm

Yeah, I use that to recover my dead player, and it only show a black screen with the backlight on. Is there anyway to modify the fireware to change the light quality? And also to fix the screen that is mirrored?

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 8:39 pm

yhap2003, load the firmware into this program and adjust the contrast as low as it will go, I do not think it will help as it is only on 3 but try. I will see if I can find another 3.5.37 for 1.5

http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...ile&file_id=17

tadad1 17th Jun 2006 9:28 pm

yhap2003, just out of curiosity did you try the 3.5.35merged.bin?

yhap2003 18th Jun 2006 9:44 am

Yes I did try 3.5.35merged.bin. It said Invalid Upgrade Firmware file.

yhap2003 18th Jun 2006 9:47 am

No, the contrast didn't help much. It's the same problem. When I used another fireware I get a dark screen but can still see the menu. When I use 3.5.37merged.bin I get a white screen and still can see the menu.

tadad1 18th Jun 2006 11:03 am

yhap2003, I will see what I can come up with.

yhap2003 18th Jun 2006 1:14 pm

Ok, Thanks.
