Bad display driver, aka wrong firmware. Keep trying...

This fixed me right up. However my mp4 player is basically only a flash drive. I get no display from the 1.8 inch LCD and it shows no signs of life at all, but when plugged into USB port and turned on, it is a 2GB flash drive.

I have no idea how he/she figured this out):

Hi,

as i tried to recover my MP4 Player after i flashed a wrong firmware, i can't get hin to be detectet as ADFU Device. Even going through the dead recovery guides.
after trying a hole day i recognized that the Problem isn't that the player is not in ADFU mode. The Problem is that the Player has a other Hardwarename.
So you can edit ADFUUpdate.inf to match your Player.

For mine Player, a ATJ2091N with Board: B828 V6 i had to add 2 lines.
One at the beginning after [Upgrade] i added
%USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66

And one at the End of the file, in the [Strings] section:
USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66.DeviceDesc="USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device"

After that the Player gets recognized when installing the Driver.

hello guys,

i have a similar problem. i have a 3rd generation ipod nano clone (that looks like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting)

it has 2 gig memory and a 1.8 inch screen. on the back cover is a name iWAVE. i cant seem to find a board id but it only has 1 screw on the back (lower back) covered by a small sticker. when opened, i see a chip marked AK1025.

previously, when you turn it on the screen would hang at the hour glass and it would not be recognized by the computer when connected. i attempted the "recover dead mp3 player" guide and used a AK1025 firmware i downloaded from this site. the player reads on the computer now as a flash drive but i cant get the screen to turn on. i can create the usual folders but cant get the screen to light up. its completely black.

anyone know how to resolve this?
