tadad1 13th Dec 2006 4:07 pm

Kdog3140, RDiskUpdate is a folder that should be in your MP3 Player Utilities installation folder. It contains the firmware update utility.

jon, 7z files are like zip files but with greater compression, you need to install 7zip ir Winrar to extract them. you can download the latest freeware version of 7zip here: http://www.7-zip.org/

Tadat your the expert and i would like to know if i m correct to put a Firmware correctly?

1-I have maked a Short circuit
2-I have open RdiskUpdate.exe
3-I find my Firmware and i select him
4-I clic on begin upgrade

That it?

tadad1 14th Dec 2006 5:35 am

lefrosth,
You only need to short the chip if your player is not detected by Windows or the Update Tool. If your player is detected then you can just use RDiskUpdate as you have discribed in steps 2,3&4.

If your player is not detected then you use Step 1 until your player is recognised by Windows as an ADFU Device then you can use steps 2,3&4 but you must install a full version firmware if your player is in ADFU Mode. If you can not get it detected as an ADFU device then it will not work. If you are having problems try connecting to a different USB port and short the chip in different places, I found I had the most success shorting the pins from side to side accross the chip.

Once you load the full version firmware then you can try some dump files.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Ya is very stupid, i m sure tadad1.He can to fix this probleme.I think it is a stupid probleme...

tadad1 14th Dec 2006 1:59 pm

lefrosth, How long ago did you buy your player, because The 3.2.16 firmware you are using is dated 19-06-2005 and I doubt it will even load onto a new player.
What version was your original firmware?
You should not put them in the recover folder either. This folder is created by the RDiskUpdate.exe when the firmware is loaded and it will rename the firmware $actsdk$.fw and place it in the recover folder. I would even advise that you delete the recover folder after trying a firmware as the update utility can sometimes get hung and keep trying the same firmware over and over.
I suggest you find a full version firmware that matches your players original firmware version.

jon, If I had any more options to give you I would. Have you tried the firmware I left you links for in one of your other post?
As I explained in that post you have to find as many firmware as you can and try them. There is no quick fix or magic firmware it is just a matter of trial and error.
If all the firmware you have tried have not helped your player then install a newer version of MP3 Player Utilties and try them again.
I just did a Google search of "MP-693C-SL" and got 2 pages of links, go and check them out.
The same search on Windows Live gave me more links like this:
http://www.alexejw.net/firmware/MP-6...5.35%20full.7z

jon 18th Dec 2006 5:14 pm
