Hy everyone!

Well, my problem is the next: I use XP home edition. I followed the recovery guide I reseted the chip but my computer recognise my mp4 players as a USB device not as an ADFU. I followed the red highlight text but when i want to install the ADFUupdate.inf the windows keep saying : "the specified location does not contain any information about your hardware"
The utility manager does not see the device so I can't upload a new firmware. I tried an other XP, It did not help either. All the time I get this message.
I have read almost the whole forum I have seen similar problem even so no solution. Maybe my mp4 player is one of the really dead mp4 players.
I would be appriciated if i would get any solution.

thnx ZOLI

I have a Ipod nano clone 2 gig. which had the sand watch hour glass problem. Then i followed the recovery guide opened it up, press on the pins with paper clip, then it detected ADFU device. then i was able to use the MP3 upgrade tool and updated the full firmware which i downloaded
chip set is SAMSUNG 710 K9LAG08UOM and the chip set is ATJ2093H
Then the guide told me to format it, Windows explorer cannot detect it, and i have no idea how to format it. What should i do next. The mp4 player started to show some life, no more watch glass anymore.

Hello, Ive got an chinese MP3/MP4 player. Sold as 8GB, actualy only 1GB. After it got off working I tried to upload a firmware. When I upload a full FW the display is still lighting on white and nothing happens. But after that Win Xp recognise it as an USB drive. Is it enough for success and can I continue with formating and uploading a firmware? Or what functionality has the player to have after uploading full FW? Thanks.

The hour glass just wont disappear after waiting more than 30 sec ...

Awesome guide, i just screwed up my player by loading a foriegn firmware and fixed it in an instant.. its not a long process if you do it a few times.. its pretty fast...
Now, to try out the other 3.5.37 fw's until i find the one that matches mine! My original fw has 0 volume on amvs

XxzMayhemzxX 17th Jul 2007 8:45 am

yeah i wasnt able to load the "AdfuUpdate" file or whatever its called but i just clicked on the usb device on installed hardware on that same screen instead of have disk or whatever and then i loaded my old firmware.
So basically i skipped that step.. i had to follow the red directions, but basically i ended up skipping them i think.

XxzMayhemzxX 17th Jul 2007 8:54 am

yeah i ruined mine.. to blue screen so i couldnt do anything.. then i fixed it.. back downloading mp3s today

XxzMayhemzxX 17th Jul 2007 9:07 am

http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/1420/126gw1.jpg

On this step.. instead of clicking have disk(since i was unable to load up the AdfuUpdate), which is on the right, i just selected my device in the window and pressed next button or whatever .Just play around with that step til you get it.

Also, in the device manager, i had the wrong thingy selected, so go back there and make sure you have the right thing selected for your player. I have multiple usb devices connected to mine so i had to keep scanning for hardware to see which one updated then i knew which one was the mp3/4 player

XxzMayhemzxX 17th Jul 2007 9:10 am

i have to do it for my sisters player too.. which is harder.. the player wont come completely apart because the speaker in back is attached to the front via wires. It plays out loud as well as into a headphone jack

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

I too had the dreaded adfuupdate.inf error- "this file does not contain information about your device/hardware" with Win XP. I haven't seen this fix on this forum and I saw this on the S1mp3.org forum, and it worked for me- I opened up the adfuupdate.inf file in notepad and cut and pasted in these extra strings where KaiT said to put them (his english is a little off but his/her coding ROCKS! I have no idea how he/she figured this out):

Hi,

as i tried to recover my MP4 Player after i flashed a wrong firmware, i can't get hin to be detectet as ADFU Device. Even going through the dead recovery guides.
after trying a hole day i recognized that the Problem isn't that the player is not in ADFU mode. The Problem is that the Player has a other Hardwarename.
So you can edit ADFUUpdate.inf to match your Player.

For mine Player, a ATJ2091N with Board: B828 V6 i had to add 2 lines.
One at the beginning after [Upgrade] i added
%USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66

And one at the End of the file, in the [Strings] section:
USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66.DeviceDesc="USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device"

After that the Player gets recognized when installing the Driver.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

well i got as far as getting it to recognizing the player as a usb device and installing the driver but when i try and use one of the firmware's it just hangs on "Downloading the restorable main program" also i used that clone program to make a back up is that what i should use next? to get my player back into working order or do i have to do something else to that.

lattesurf 19th Jul 2007 11:56 pm

red_pen , s1clone requires you to have a working player, so that it could dump the firmware from it and flash it into the non-working player.

For a dead player recovery, and you are just trying random firmwares. You'll need MP3 Utilities Upgrade Tool, there are many versions of MP3 Utilities that you can download from the downloads section.

If you encounter hanging when you try to flash in some firmwares, try uninstall the MP3 Utilities, and re-install another version.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

i used the clone program before i crash my player but i'm guess i left songs on there and it also put that in the file cause the dump.bin is almost a GIG in size. also now i can't get to my player through explore, it's getting detected though and stuff but it doesn't show the drive under my computer, any thoughts?

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

I am looking for a working firmware for:
  • 1.5" Clone
  • Chip ATd2091N
  • Hynix QQ1GM HY27UU088G5M
  • Has E-book, Telephone, FM Radio

Bought on eBay listed as 8GB but when using the checker suggested in Recovery Guide shows as 1GB however the Hynix chip checks out as an 8GB chip, so am wondering how that was accomplished. I am fine with 1GB but would just like to get it to work.

In the present firmware 9.0.50 it hangs on hourglass (Startup). It came on a couple of times for me to back up the data but after using S1FX to backup firmware, it will not boot up at all, just hangs on hourglass. Every 9.0.50 firmware on this site has failed so far. I know there are others out there with this device as the eBay seller sold over 30000 of these.

Please help!

lattesurf 22nd Jul 2007 4:08 pm

lynnymoore , the Hynix HY27UU088G5M is a 8Gigabit (1GigaByte) chip, as 8bits = 1Byte.

At this moment, the S1fwx tool only supports upto v9.0.43, so your version could not be extracted. Likewise for the other users with the same version as yours. So you would find problems locating a suitable firmware.

If those in the downloads section do not work, i'll suggest you contact your seller for an exchange or full refund.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Just curious, does anyone know how come my Hynix QQ1GM HY27UU088G5M (8Gb) chip only formats to 1Gb? I followed the testing procedures exactly and they definitely show it to be 1Gb MP4 Player.

after a month of searching for a suitable firmware for my dead i-nickel, and many more months of waiting for one, i can give only one advice:

stay away from these s1 players. the producer is clearly not interested in a solution, just in selling shitloads of these things

i have a meizu m6 now and that thing works and has decent support from the supplier

no offence to the owner of this board ofcourse!

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Hi everybody,
please can somebody helps me with my problem? My 2 players were dead so I have followed the recovery guide to the letter and everything goes well until the time comes to load the firmware. It is at this point that the upload gets stuck at around 30-40%. Exactly like this: http://www.mympxplayer.org/image-full-asp187.html
It stopped always at five blue squares. I tried it many times, but always the load progress stopping at the same position for both players. Also I tried to use 3 different types of upgrading tools, version: 3.68, 4.05, 4.13, but still the same problem.

Please help me.
Thank you.

Ok I found the file that I needed and when I went through the steps that was layed out for the dead player recovery I got all the way until you use the mp3 player upgrade tool. When I tried it to recover the firmware it just locks down. I downloaded the firmware that was suggested at the end of the steps for recovery I used the upgrade tool and located the firmware on the computer and when I press the button on the tool program to start the recovery it starts but then just sits there and does nothing. Any Ideas. Thanks Ron

tom99 15th Aug 2007 3:28 pm

Very nicely written guide.. but I'm still having a problem:

I have this device (1.8 inch; 1GB; AMV; MP3; WMA; FM radio; Ebook; 65k colors...) Here's a picture: http://www.cdrking.com/local/product...410849-2488327
The device connects and gets recognised in windows as an ADFU device, so I'm having it in "recovery state" when connected to the PC.
I tried MP3 Player Firmware Upgrade Tool (4.05) & MP3 Player Product Tools 4.19 to no avail with the Full Firmwares. "Downloading the restorable main program" is what it's supposedly doing.. but I find it hanging there.

If anyone has any suggestions.. I'm getting very frustrated.. so it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks either way.

lattesurf 15th Aug 2007 5:12 pm

rkylrdog & tom99 , try uninstall and install another version of MP3 Utilities, as some versions tend to hang while flashing.
