Hi devika

you have to extract a firmware from a similr player or you have to try firmwares from the download area untill you get the right one!

i had the same probleme as you, but now i recovered my player in half, its half alive, i used to extract a firmware from a similar player, but this player i've used wasnt 100% similar, so my player screen dont work, its white with black lines, but other fonctions are all right!

devika, you need to download s1fwx HERE and there is a guide on how to backup your firmware HERE, Once you have extracted your firmware could you please upload it to site for others to share HERE
If you can include as much information on your player and firmware that would be great.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

i have two dead mp4 players one is of 8gb and the other is of 4gb.
When i used to connect the 4gb player then it used to show two removabvle disks in my computer.one of the removable disks were accesible but the other was'nt(i suspect that the one which was'nt accesible has the firmware of my mp3 payer).i dint remove the player by stoping it from the taskbar.then the accesible disk stopped showing in my computer.i had alredy put some music earlier in the player. The player turns on and can access the menu but the when i try to open the music menu then the player restarts.
P.S.-the unaccessible removable disk is 1mb and the other is 4gb.And the firmware version is sc85051f ACT_V3.5.35.
please help!!!

sratra, You need to disable driver signing, right click on My Computer and select Properties, Hardware Tab, Driver Signing and make sure it is set to Ignore

http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/407/driverscs1.jpg

If your player is showing 2 drives you need to go to the settings menu in the player and select On-line Mode and make sure it is set to Normal Only.

Your player is restarting because it has a hacked memory chip. These players do not come in 4GB and 8GB they will only support a maximum of 2GB memory.
You need to format the player to remove the hack that is causing it to read as a larger chip size and corrupt your files.
If you look through the forums you will find many posts related to this problem.

to find the true size of your memory check the serial number of the chip against this list

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

i am very surprised and unhappy to know that the mp3 players my parents got from china were not really 4 or 8 gb.It was rather shocking to know that so many peaple are victims to this scam after reading those forums. Also, i think it is very good of you peaple to create awareness of this issue :D .I would like to tell you that not only the buyers ofebay but also unsuspecting tourists visiting china on vacations buy such mp3 players in thier shops!,as in the case of my parents.
