Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Hi

I have been trying to recover my dead player I have followed the How to until the very last step of the how to. At that point My player was not recognized. I then picked up the thread in Sept of 07 where lattesurf was helping reactos recover his player. I did each step Lattesurf suggested and it did get Windows to see the player but when I try to install the Ad????.inf file I get the following error.

Can not install Hardware

The required section was not found in the INF.

Any suggestions?

interuptor0 26th Oct 2007 6:42 am

not a good idea to drag the flash's pins. it will kill the flash if still got electricity on PCB.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

I have 4 identical chIpod shuffles which I purchased in China.

When a went to use the devices I kill two of them when I fully loaded the supposedly 4G player. It was then I figured out that I actually had 1G player. I followed the How to fix hacked chIpod instructions and fixed the remaining two machines to run as 1G player.

I then when about trying to recover the Dead chipods. Following the instructions and postings on this board, I have set the player into ADUF rescue mode. Now I need to load a full firmware version.

Going to http://www.exoticsa.com/2007/

I downloaded the 4.15 tool and used it to look at the firmware version on my working chipods: Bother were Wilson Co LTD version 9.1.51 firmware.

Then from the same site, I downloaded DIGIPOD SD-18N and uncompressed the firmware. At this time I added an .fw extension so that the MP3 utility can recognize the file.

When I open the file using the 4.15 MP3 utility the SD-18N.fw file is recognized as Wilson Co LTD version 9.1.51. When I hook my Player in ADUF mode in to the USB port the MP3 utility recognizes the player and said it is ready of upgrade. I tell it to upgrade the firmware and the utility
upgrades to player and indicates that the firmware installation was successful.

At this point the ADUF device disappears from the USB items listed under the Hardware Device Manager.

This is where my troubles start! I can not find the player anywhere on the PC. It is not recognized as a flash drive or a hard disk. It is nowhere to be found.

I then turn off the player and remove it from the USB port. I wait a couple of minutes and then reboot the player and wait a few more minutes so that it has had more than enough time to boot.

When I plug the play back into my computers USB port. Win XP Pro makes a sound like it just noticed a new USB device, but I can not find the device anywhere in the Device Manager or Using Windows Explorer.

The MP3 utility or MP3 disk format programs do not recognize the player either.

I have read one post that said I may have to format the MP3 drive from windows, but I have no idea how to do that being I can not find the device on the system.

Please Help!

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

To get your Rockchip player into "upgrade mode" all you do is this,

1) Switch the player OFF using the main on/off switch.

2) Hold down the "MENU" or the "PLAY" button and keep it held down.(try the other buttons if these dont work)

3) Connect the usb to the player.

4) Wait for about 10 seconds before releasing the menu key.

5) You are now in "RockUSB" upgrade mode!

6) Then just Start ConsumerUpdate and upload a working firmware and try it!

additional information can be found on Rockchip player recovery is here':-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...de-vt6686.html

You may like to try the firmware I used to recover my player with it's the same screen size as yours :-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...276-df612.html

I hope you can get your player back.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

I am so upset about this player so far its for my sons B-day it 2 days is the only reason I am trying to fix it.
I went through the guide. I am stuck... It recognizes it as a USB device. However it will not load the ADFUupdate.... It just says that it has no information for my Hardware.
Please TADAD1 (or anyone else) help,,, i cant afford to buy him another one

lattesurf 18th Nov 2007 4:48 pm

jukeboxjunki , go to Control Panel, and click on System.

In it, select the Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager.

Now you should see a list of hardware items connected to your computer. Look for the player, it should be highlighted with a yellow exclamation mark.
Right click on it and select Properties.
A new box should open. Now select the Details tab and in the drop down box, chose Device Instance Id.

What does the box below it display after you selected it?

jukeboxjunki 18th Nov 2007 5:56 pm

lattesurf
This is what it says there....

USB\VID_10D6&PID_FF66\5&193F920A&0&5

lattesurf 18th Nov 2007 6:22 pm

jukeboxjunki , try using the ADFU files here http://www.savefile.com/files/1205168

Select the player under the device manager, right click and chose update driver. Then use ADFUupdate.inf file that i've provided. See if it can now install the driver properly.

jukeboxjunki 18th Nov 2007 6:34 pm

lattesurf... I really appreciate the help here. This ADFU doesnt work either but a little different. It almost works. Says there is no section for my device.

lattesurf 19th Nov 2007 5:39 pm

jukeboxjunki , perhaps try this new ADFU file here http://www.savefile.com/files/1207727

See if it installs properly now?

after you make this backup

Always BACKUP the existing firmware of your player before attempting to update
the firmware on your mp4 player. Updating your mp4 player with the wrong or
incorrect firmware will result in a DEAD PLAYER and it not booting up at all!
Always be sure that you use the correct firmware for your mp4 player only.
Updating your firmware will NOT provide you with any extra features.
It's really intended as a resource and 'backup' should the firmware on your mp4
player becomes corrupt.

from the "partition 2" in the second partition
from the "partition 3" in the 3th partition.

Hi, my MP4 player is finally showing a blue screen that says "USB Disk" and device manager shows it as "ANYKAUSB Nand Opn Zone USB Device". I'm trying to install the ADFU driver so i can install the firmware but WinXP won't let me. So I'm pretty much stuck. Can anyone help me resolve this so I can get my player up and running again? MP3 Tool can't find it. Thanks

hi there, i tried to change my fw , but now player is dead, i tried to fix it with this with guide in first page..
now i can see my player device (in my computer as removable disk)
but it`s still dead, what to do next ?
original fw is 9.1.51 , i haven`t software cd, so i downloaded it.
i haven`t bacup too
thans for help :)

Th3_uN1Qu3 30th Nov 2007 11:50 am

cunfusled73, you should check this thread: http://mympxplayer.org/mp4-players-a...d--vt6847.html

Ankya players are a totally different breed from Actions ones, therefore they can't be recovered using this guide.

TUANAS, except of trying every 9.1.x firmware here, there's not much to try.

lattesurf 30th Nov 2007 5:37 pm

TUANAS , what you'll need to do is to try all the v9.xx firmwares here http://www.mympxplayer.org/actions-9...ware-dc37.html

As there is no way to tell which firmware would work with your player, you'll need to try all those for your screen size until you get a working one. Good luck.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

After a good week of struggling, I found on a Polish website the RIGHT firmware to recover my ATJ 2091N -based Monochrome 2GB MP3 Player with FM radio. This firmware is NOT YET present in your Downloads, so you can add it if you find this useful (I don't know how to do it by myself)!

This is this one:

If you find a way to modify the HORRIBLE boot splash screen, please let me know Wink

Please help: I can get my player to appear as an ADFU device, but I'm a little confused on how to get the firmware I downloaded actually onto it. Any advice as to how I flash this ADFU device and get it to start registering as a normal USB drive would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Biostem,

copy the AkResData.bin & Magic.bin and right click and paste on which ever drive letter is assigned to your device. After its done copying the files, safely remove from usb and restart your player. It should now load your player. Hope this works for you. ( I just got done fixing mine)

Biostem 6th Dec 2007 6:51 pm

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

The problem is, while it *does* show up as an ADFU device in my device manager, there is NO drive letter associated w/ it. Thanks.

cunfusled73 7th Dec 2007 12:02 pm

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

if you click on "My Computer" there should be a drive letter "F:" and "G:". You want to copy the files to "F:".

Biostem 7th Dec 2007 2:16 pm

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

The mp3/4 player does *not* show up in 'my computer' at all, yet it *does* show up in the device manager as an ADFU device. Thanks.
