Obs, I know it can be very frustrating. try using a different USB port to connect with preferably one you have not used the player on before. Sadly 90% of these players have atj2085 and a samsung nand flash so the info does not help.
Sorry I can not be of more help but there is no quick fix, trial and error is the only option without a backup. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Hello i have followed the guid . And upgrade the firmware but it still not working.. I dont know what to do plz help me
|
Guys i have a problem my s1 mp3/4 is this one http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/...7_7037.jpg&v=O I follow all the steps, the only advance that is a huge one is that i have now the screen in blue, but i tried lot of firmware but it remains blue, its that model, with the menu in the middle, it is 1,5 1 gb, Wilson Co, and the original version was 3.5.35 (i install the full 3.5.35), i didn t make a backup of the original so i don t have the dump.bin.....
Well i don t know what more i can tell you, well, it was dead because i tried to update it but i use a wrong firmware.. but well now it s giving signs of life, the screen is blue, the computer recognize it, and i can use it as a pendrive of 1 gb Thanks guys for your help... NZ rulez!!! Kiwis are the best, specially in rugby you are the first ones... Australia mmmm s*cks :P, i went once to Auckland (sky tower hotel) Rotorua (visit the geisers) and Wellington (i found more interesting Auckland) |
Agustindv, It is just a matter of finding the right firmware for your player, keep an eye on the firmware section as new ones are loaded one may work for you.
|
tadad another question, first i have to install the full 3.5.35 firmware and then the correct dump
Or just installing the correct firmware the mp4 have to work? (because i installed the 3.5.35 and i m looking for the correct dump.bin, but the mp4 screen remains blue) |
Agustindv A dump file does not contain all the files needed to recover your player and if your player is in recovery mode it will not accept a dump file.
A full version firmware will load all the files you need to boot your player but it may not be the right one for your player so the screen will be blue or black, but after loading it you can load dump files which gives you more chance to find the right firmware. If you can find the right Full Version great but they are hard to find. The firmware you tried that looks correct may be using a different LCD screen driver than your player. There are so many different versions of players and firmware and even if they look the same they can all slightly differrent and have different internal components. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
thank you very much. Finally I could fix my player! thanks to all for the aid! I must a beer to them!!!!

|
followed the guide, and my player is up and functioning again!! thank you very much for the great info
|
need help:
my player displays "HARD ERROR" when i use the FM radio...any solution to this problem? its with the same unit (IPOD-Nano)need your advise....thanks! |
shiloh, you could try to extract your firmware , repair it then load it back on your player.
It could also be a fault in the radio chip on you board if so I do not think it can be fixed unless you can get a technician to replace it. |

Hi – Just got mine Mp3 4g from Wilson, it had ver 3.5.35 I wanted to update to ver 3.5.37.
The first one I tried did not update. The next one I downloaded – updated – but then I got A BLUE SCREEN I do have access to the chip (my files are still there) I did back up before I started. When I try to use the upgrade tool - to upload the old firm ware, it says or " Device switching has failed, Reconnect device" or "Device not detected" I just want to make sure before I start that, I have to go through the whole process of opening it up and touching the chip etc. Please help. |
markshmid1 : see all the recovery guide in the first page of this forum. is sure that you can recovery it ...
good luck |
The question is do I have to open the gizmo up and short the chip to restart it? Or if i can go on to next step?
Thanks |
Need Help!
I followed the steps of the recovery, all I get now is that sometimes Windows does not recognize the USB port (in the device manger it says “unknown device”) and in the firmware updater it says “device not detected”. I even formatted the drive and it did not help! After rebooting the computer in the device manger it said “USB mass storage device” and when I ran the firmware updater it said “ Device switching failed, please reconnect device” What do I do? Help Needed. |
After playing with the gizmo some more: I see that somehow there are two drives on the gizmo one is: 3.99GB and one is: 1M.
1 mp3 players were detected, 1 removable disks, 0 ADFU devices Is it possible that this is the reason I am having trouble? |
This really belongs in the Memory thread:
I was thinking maybe the reason I am having trouble, Juicing up my gizmo again is because I have (found) two drives. The updater is looking @ the one Meg drive which is the real one but it cannot but the info in there because it is too small. A good 15 or more years back (when hard drives where really expensive and all we had was a 20GB there was this program called STACKER which doubled your hard drive space. I do not recall exactly how it worked – but I do remember that: 1) it made a seconded drive read only 2) it slowed the heck out of the computer 3) you would have to defrag all the time, or else you where in risk of crashing or it would work even slower So my guess this is what they are doing and somehow hiding the second drive (which popped up by me). |
thanx so much this guide helped me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooo mush its amazing i have the same exact mp4 as the one displaye don the picture making my life extremely esier but im havin a bit uf trouble finding the right firmware i was wondering if anyone could tell me witch one to use

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
[solved]I had just updated my firmware like I've done many times before with my back dump.bin file (I repaired the dump.bin file before use) connected back my player to my computer to download some song onto it and press the scroll buttom on my player the screen scrambled and look green in some areas. So I turned the player off and on when it came on the screen looked blue like when you have update with a wrong firmware, so I connected it back to my computer and try to updated the firmware with my dump.bin that didn't work it still looked blue. So I tried it with the original dump.bin that I did no modifications to, it still didn't work. So I search the site and came across the DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE post read it carefully to make sure I understod it properly and went a head with the steps. Everything went smoothly my player was recovered I used the full firmware provided by tadad1 and my backup dump.bin file. About 5 min after I downloaded some song on my player safty removed it, I started listen to some songs after about 3 songs the player did the same thing as before the screen scrambled and look green in some areas. I tried to update the firmware again and it didn't work. So I did the DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE again, everthing went smooth until I reach the step to upload my backup dump.bin, after I upload it the screen stayed blue like it was an invalid firmware. So I tried a bunch of othe firmware to see if maybe the recovery change to original firmware nothing worked. My player responds when I hold down play it turns on and off. Can any one help me thanks.

Kenny2123, The fact that the player is running fine and then without any reason scrambles and leaves you with a blue screen, also that you have been able to recover it and then have the same thing happen makes me think this is more than a firmware problem. There may be a short in your player somewhere that is causing a reset, or a problem with the LCD, memory chip or CPU. I can only suggest you dismantle the player and give it a good clean and look for any damage, possible loose components or a faulty LCD connector.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Thanks for your help tadad1 after thinking about what you said I put some songs on my player and the player works something is wrong with the LCD screen. I'll see if I could get it repaired or replaced.
|
does this guide also works with other mpx player models aside from the nano clone?
|
shiloh, Dispite the differences in apperance and layout all these player basically work the same. I have used the process on two other non-clone type players.
|
thanks tadad1, another question, i tried to use the s1res/s1fwx software on the ordinary mp3 players but it doeswork on them, do you know any software that can load startup logos on ordinary mp3 players (the one with plain lcd screen) and also software for the PMP players also.....
|
Hi sorry im bothering You but i just wanna ask:
I got a problem whith find that connection between the pins so I my question is about that You wrote it not alweys must working, is that problem only before me and is only the matter of time that I find it? I got the same mpx like on foto only that me is 4gb and its got other face ;) If You need some more information It will be no problem for me to give You more information.. Thanks for prompt answer and sorry for all mistakes that I didnt find.. |
kuki, Shorting the chip to reset it should be quite easy, it does not seem to matter what pins are crossed, I have done it on the right side, left side and even from side to side across the chip and all seem to work. If you can not find the right combination of full and dump version firmware then you may not be able to recover your player.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
hello to every one.
I had a dead player like this http://www.mympxplayer.org/album_showpage.php?pic_id=58 now it is in recovery state. I can't upload new firmware. thanks anyway EDIT: DUDE!!!! http://static.flickr.com/44/115801594_44b86debb2_m.jpg Your Beer! And of my favourite brand! |
Marpi, mmmmm Heineken, but it looks like you had a sip
. Are you trying to load a full version firmware or a backup dump, because in recovery state your player will only accept a full version firmware. Are you getting any error messages? |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
None of them. The recover process finished perfectly.
So you can have that glass :D Thanks Again |
Nice one Mapi :)

Recover the dead player with Windos 98
I followed the guide step by step, but when I tried to instlall the driver inside c:\windows (AdufUpdate.inf) windows kept sayng that there was no information for my hardware in that file, I even tried to find other AdufUpdate.inf in other folders, it kept saying the same thing! So I used an old computer with Windows 98, and that worked! it automatically recognized the nano clone as an ADFU server! So I installed a random complete firware, and the screen turned black, so it wasn't the correct firmware  , but now when I came back to Windows XP, I noticed that it recognized the pod as an ordinary memory stick, that allowed me to format the dead player and clean it :D . Having the dead player formated and recognized by windows (with a bad firmware) all I had to do is flash the firmware I backed up from the same player when I bought it, and that did it!!! So, I recomend that if Windows XP doesn't recognize the player, get an old computer with windows 98, that will do the Trick!!!
|
orionfrg, Nice one, thanks for sharing this. Glad you got your player back up and running as well :)

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Hi guys.
I've followed the guide to install the ADFU driver and it worked, but I haven't the message that say's the player is in recovery mode. Then, I unplugged the player, plugged again and got nothing. So, I shorthed it and I got a computer shut down. Well, I plugged it on the other USB port and didn't have to short it, the computer shut down immediately. What did I made wrong? |
jonao, If your player is causing your PC to crash unfortunatly it sounds as if the chip may be faulty or damaged and I doubt you will be able to recover your player. If you have access to another PC try connecting your player and see if the problem still occurs as it could also be a motherboard problem.
