Hey guys,
It seems that muratu and I are in the same boat.

I have followed the recovery guide to the letter and everything goes well until the time comes to load the firmware. It is at this point that the upload gets stuck at around 30-40%. In addition, my player does not show up as a Removable Drive in My Computer, it only appears as the ADSU drive in Device Manager. All I see on my player is that horrid hourglass! Blast!

Any help chaps? ^-^

If your player is recognised as an ADFU device then it will be in recovery mode and will only accept a Full Version firmware as explained in the guide. Once you have installed a full version firmware it should be recognised as a Removable Device and then be visible in Explorer. You should then be able to load dump.bin files to your player.

If your player uses 9.0.48 firmware then there are no full version or dump files available for these players, until they become available there is nothing you can do to recover your player.

If your player uses 9.0.43 there are a few in the download section but no full versions as yet for 1.5 inch LCD models only 1.8 inch so you may have problems as well.

Thank you, tadad1, for putting it in such simple terms. I used to have the 9.0.48 firmware, but all went to hell on Saturday after a silly mistake. Oh well, you live and learn, I suppose. Cheerio!

HotCrisis16, You may have to repeat the process many times to find a working combination of full and dump firmware to recover your layer.
Are you getting any warning messages when you try to load firmware?
Have a look in the RDisk Update tool folder, if there is a folder named "recover" delete it and then connect you rplayer and try to load another full version firmware.

No I mean my computer won't even reconize it so I can load the firmware onto the player. It's a 4gb iPod Nano Clone...so my guess is that it was hacked and when I did the dead player recovery guide it removed the hack and the firmware won't work or something like that.

HotCrisis16, When you successfully short your player memory chip the player is put into recovery mode and Windows should recognise it as an ADFU Server. It will not be visible in explorer at this time but should still be recognised by the upgrade tool. If the upgrade tool will not recognise it then you need to try shorting the memory chip again. Try shorting different combinations of pins, personally I find I get better results shorting the pins across the chip from side to side.
