Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

CoakCraw, Your dum.bin is not a full firmware it is missing a few files that do not get copied from your player. If your player is in recovery mode it will not accept a dump.bin you need to use a full version firmware that contains all the files. You can download some from HERE You need to load the full version to your player it may not fully recover your player but you will then be able to use your dump.bin provided you have repaired it with s1fwx.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Thenk you :) i forgot to repair de dump.bin. My player is working now and i changed the lay-out to a sort of nano look (what i wanted, but then i blew up my player  )
Very much thanks, Tim

tadad1 9th Sep 2006 8:27 am

CoakCraw, Glad you got your player going again. :)

kryss 9th Sep 2006 12:01 pm

my player is still working but i dont see anything in my LCD - it turned blue (wrong firmware update). am i going to follow the dead player guide (short my chip pins)? because i tried firmwares in here but unfortunately cant find the right one.. my player (ipod china 512mb) SAMSUNG 625 - k9F4608U0A, when it starts ipod logo appears and has a background of waterlily if you connect it to usb..

tadad1 9th Sep 2006 5:45 pm

kryss, You only need to short the chip if your player is no longer recognised by Windows and the Mp3 Upgrade tool.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

hi all,
i think i'm in a big trouble...
i've got the same player as in the picture (dead player recovery guide).. but it is dead, because i have upgraded it with a wrong firmware (i think so)...whatever, if i turn it on, the lcd doesn't show something... but if i connect my mp4 player to the pc, the pc detects it as an"(unknown) usb device"...and the lcd is black..then i have tried to recover it, with the recovery guide ( i must say it's a very good guide, respect)
but i've got a problem now. until connecting theplayer with my pc, everything is ok.. BUT when i connect it with my pc, and make a connection between the pins using a tweezer or other metal item, the pc detects: usb device and not "adfu server device".. so i can't install a new firmware on my mp4player

and the *.inf file that should have be in the "windows folder" is not there..maybe somebody can send me that file please?

please help me.....

tadad1 11th Sep 2006 3:49 pm

abinbetrieb, there is also a copy of the AdfuUpdate.ini where you installed MP3 Player Utilities in the RDiskUpdate\driver folder. Also try connecting you player to another usb port, one you have not used with the player before if possible.

abinbetrieb 12th Sep 2006 6:15 am

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

oh thank you very much, now i can update it with a new firmware, but i don't know what firmware i have to update on the mp4player, i have read that you must try every full firmware then dump.bin or so..
which firmware or dump.bin would you advise me to try it first ??

tadad1 12th Sep 2006 6:59 am

abinbetrieb,
Do you know what version your firmware was 3.5.35 or 3.5.37?
I suggest that you download s1res from the Downloads\Tools section. With s1res you can open the firmware you download and look at the images within the firmware.
END.RES, is the images in the shutdown animation
LOGO.RES, the startup animation
UI30.RES - icon, has all the other images like menus etc.

If you look through the firmware with s1res and find all the ones that have similar images to the firmware that was on your player they will be the best ones to start with.

Some of the firmware you download may not have been repaired. If you try any firmware that gives you an error warning try naming it dump.bin, place it in the folder of s1fwx and run the repair.bat, then try loading it to your player again.

You will find s1fwx in the Downloads\Tools section as well.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Hello everybody, hope you can help me!!!

I'm trying to resurrect a Zling V photo

I followed all the guide, I have the original firmware downloaded from the site but when it's time to do the upgrade I can't do anything as the player automatically disconnects from windows.
I tried several times, with several programs ( mp3 player update tool 1.45, mp3 upgrade tool 4.00, product tool 2.8 ) but noone of them seem to work. :(

It always goes like this: plug the player, turn on, shortcut, the player is recognised, open the utility (everything's ok)...begin firmware recovering and here we are! Usual sound of unplugged hardware.
With the upgrade tool I receive also the message "Read or write device information failed! Please exit the program and check if device is connecting".

Pleeeeeease, I really need your know-how, this stuff is driving me crazy.

tadad1 13th Sep 2006 6:40 pm

sybilvane, Is the firmware you are trying to flash a full version firmware or a backup dump.bin because after shorting the chip and placing the player into recovery mode (you should get a message that the player is in recovery mode when you open the upgrade tool) it will only accept a full version firmware. To check to see if it is a full version place the firmware into the s1fwx folder and then run the list.bat which will list the files inside the firmware.

In the info:afi section at the top there should be a list of 15-18 files like this

---[ info:afi ]----------------------------------------------------------------
file id = 'AFI '
vendor id = 0x10D6
product id = 0x1101
version = 9.0.43
date = 07/14/2006

+---filename---+ +---size---+ +-type-+ +---+ +--chksum--+
| ADFUS.BIN | | 9kb | | | | A | | F51715B4 |
| HWSCAN.BIN | | 11.5kb | | | | H | | EE2A71A0 |

| FWIMAGE.FW | | 8.74mb | | | | I | | C3CFC881 |
+--------------+ +----------+ +------+ +---+ +----------+

If you only have a list of 5 files or less like this

---[ info:afi ]----------------------------------------------------------------
file id = 'AFI '
vendor id = 0x6977
product id = 0x6552
version = 3.5.37
date = 00/00/0000

+---filename---+ +---size---+ +-type-+ +---+ +--chksum--+
| BRECF641.BIN | | 16kb | | F641 | | B | | 0D60E814 |

| SYSINFO.BIN | | 192bytes | | | | | | CC5EB575 |
+--------------+ +----------+ +------+ +---+ +----------+

Then it is not a full version firmware and will not load to your player.

sybilvane 14th Sep 2006 3:10 am

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Unfortunately, as I expected, it's a full firmware version.
And I can't understand why the player behaves like it's not...

I tried again this morning, but it's hopeless...

tadad1 14th Sep 2006 3:38 am

sybilvane, Just to rule out that it is not a problem with your computer, if you have access to another pc try on that one.

tadad1 14th Sep 2006 7:13 am

I have done all of the DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE but hen I go to recover firmware I get FLASH IS NOT RESPONDING or it seems to lose connection. The LCD lights up while pluged in during recover. Is this just keep searching for the right firmware? Thanks to all.

sybilvane 14th Sep 2006 2:43 pm

Nothing

Ok...I tried on another computer but there is no way.
And so, what should I do? Kill myself? Kill the producer?
(notice that I didn't do anything to damage the player in anyway, before now I hardly knew about the existence of something called firmware)

...   ...

tadad1 14th Sep 2006 3:09 pm

sybilvane, If your player died without a firmware upgrade it may be faulty, if so there is possibly not much you can do to fix it as the fault may exist at a hardware level.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Hello to everyone,

I am new here. I have a ipod nano chinese clone. 1.5" screen my main problem is board haven't any ID. Only write a 2006. Anything is same as other players.

Chip : ATJ2085H
Memory : Samsung 625 K9K8008U9A
With FM radio feature.

One day device is locked by sand clock and never opened.

I have a little research in the net and i found this and other forums and i am using dead recovery guides step by step. Now i FW ed 3.2.16 and the device is recognized by XP a removable drive. But never opened.

Anyone help me please. I try all of the firmwares somes are accepteble somes are not. My best solution is 3.2.16 device recognized by removable drive. I am stuck this step.

Thanks alot and sorry for my bad english.

tadad1 18th Sep 2006 6:23 am

kuzgun,
Unfortunatly the player info you give is quite common so it is impossible to say what firmware you need.
Do you know what version firmware your player had originally had?
What did the boot and shutdown screens look like? If people have a better idea of your original firmware they may be able to point you in the right direction.

tadad1 18th Sep 2006 6:27 am

Wanderer, Cool :) a new member, and a working player. Thanks for posting, if you have the time some info on your player and the firmware you used may help a few others.

kuzgun 18th Sep 2006 6:45 am

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

thanks for your quick reply tadad1,

I found the my end and boot up screens included firmware but it don't work. One thing i missed the player have JADA brand and JD-M510 model name on it. Maybe i can upload an image of the board and player.

Wanderer 18th Sep 2006 8:34 am

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Oh I see
Well my mp3 is this one
http://www.mympxplayer.org/album_showpage.php?pic_id=58
I short circuited the player with a pince and upgraded it to 3.5.37v2.51b.fw with 3.5.37 dump file from the download section

Indeed it must be some residues from previous versions causing my volume up down <> problem

Thanks tadad1

tadad1 18th Sep 2006 8:51 am

Wanderer, Thats great :) a lot of people have had trouble finding the right firmware to restore this type of player. You may be able to reassign the keys with Waterlily which you can get in the Download\Tools section. It has a page for button assignment.

Wanderer 18th Sep 2006 3:47 pm

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

I tried waterlily but I couldn't make it work
But I can live with it :P As long as the gizmo works, it's a minor defect :)

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

hi,
my comp doesnt detect my mp4 player( like same as on the guide)
i make a connection between the pins on one side of the chip but i didnt able to reset it. it just restart by doing it.
so how can i do it, i'm sure i can make next steps but i have to do this first
anyone help?

tadad1 22nd Sep 2006 5:59 pm

BrandonWalsh, I have found that the chip can be reset on either side and even crossed from one side to the other.

ardo101 23rd Sep 2006 1:48 am

tadad1 and all other people, i have the same problem with same nanolike crapPod player, can you tell me specificly how did you work on dead player, how should i connect these pins inside a player. pictures and previous description didnt help me, i tried but no " device detected" message only flashing screen, hourglass on blue background. Thanks for help

tadad1 24th Sep 2006 8:08 am

ardo101, I can not explain it any clearer than in the guide. If your player has been detected by windows as an ADFU Device before it may load the driver without any notification so after shorting the chip try the upgrade tool to see if it detects your player.

You could also try shorting your chip on either left or right side or accross the chip. I have found it resets almost anywhere. Make sure your metalic object is not aluminium as it may not conduct as well.

JOHANFER12 24th Sep 2006 12:55 pm

PLEASE I NEED A FIRMWARE FOR A MARKVISION OF 512 MB, PLEASE SEN ME TO JOHANFER_12@HOTMAIL.COM, I TRIED 10 FIRMWARES AND NOT WORK ONLY SHOWS A LIGHT PLEASE HELP ME,

tadad1 24th Sep 2006 4:30 pm

JOHANFER12, It is impossible to tell you which firmware will work with your player there are just to many variations. You may need to try 50 - 100 to find the right one.

JOHANFER12 24th Sep 2006 6:20 pm

I BELIEVE THAT WITH THE ORIGINAL IS SUFFICIENT, PLEASE IF ANYONE HAVE IT PLEASE SEND IT TO JOHANFER_12@HOTMAIL.COM. VERY THANKS

ardo101 25th Sep 2006 10:22 am

ok i'll try it once more, that pins staff, but question about firmware, before reinstall or putting new firmware what i have to do to get/backup recent software. And where i could get about 50-100 different soft version, i have seen in this forum only three one (...35/ ...37)

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Hello guys! I'm happy! I've recovered my Chipod! I've buy another identical player because all firmwares of the download section are not for my player! I've extracted firmware from new player and flashed into the old, and now all work perfectly!!! ;)
Here is my player:

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9546/27092006hc9.jpg

I've uploaded the firmware for helping other people with my same player. Why after upload i don't see it in the "uploaded by members" section?

Bye bye all ;)
