abumazen, What have you tried so far to recover your player?
What is happening with it at the moment?
When did the problem start?

Hi Guys,
I got this cool product UX-Osmium from Uxcell (got it about 5 days ago). It was working fine untill 2 days ago it suddenly restarted while I was listening to music. Now it is stuck at the Hour Glass Icon when it loads. I tried to connect it to my pc that it had worked before and it got detected as a new device called USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device. And there was no drive assigned to it. I tried the software that came with it, no luck. Can't even format it as there is no drive associated.

Uxcell shipped it on 27th of Nov, so I don't think I can return it as it says on thier site that only 14 days after shipping I can return it.

I tried upgrading the firmware but I get the following error message.

http://new.photos.yahoo.com/war1000/...804098058064/1

Any help is highly appreciated. I contacted Uxcell but in two days no response.

war1000, It seems your player has gone into recovery mode, you would need a copy of the original factory Full version firmware to recover it. Get on to UXcell as soon as possible for a replacement and do not try to load any furthur firmware as you will void your warrenty.

lefrosth, These players are not able to support 4GB of memory 2GB is the maximum. I went back through your posts and see you listed your memory chip serial number as K9K8G08U0M.
On Samsung chips the 4 & 5th characters represent the chip density in your case 8G which is 8gigabit or 1GigaByte.
If your player is only showing 228MB then one of the following may have happened.
The chip has been marked as a 1GB chip but is really only 256MB.
The serial number has been misread and is actually K9K2G08U0M which is a 256MB chip.
The chip is in fact a 1GB but has failed in some way and not all the memory is accessible.
When you used the MP3 Disk Tool to rebuild the partition the slider was not set all the way to the left at zero before you repartitioned in which case you may be able to repeat the process and restore the chip to 1GB.

This is why you were having problems with file corruption because the files were being loaded to damaged sectors or space that did not really exist.

Here is a post regarding a 4GB player I purchased that was in fact a 2GB chip.

lefrosth, Go into the player settings menu and select Online Mode and set it to Multi Drive.
Then disconnect your player from your PC turn it off at the switch. Turn it back on and reconnect it to your PC. How many Drives does it now show in Explorer 1 or 2.
