Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

I have a 1.8" ipod looking 4gb mp4 player, the original firmware # is 9.0.48, I wanted more games so i decided to upgrade it, when I use the 9.0.50 firmwares, only gave me a black screen, when I use the 9.0.48 from this site only gave a blank whit screen, all of them is updatable, but just won't work. chip set is atj2091n, samsung 643, if anyone got a working firmware applicable to mine, and able to send it to me I'd be very appriciated. one more thing, when it is pluged in, it shows up as several disks now, not just one single disk, does that have to do with this problem?

I figured that the mp3 player still works, everything still in function, only that shows a blank bright screen, anyone has this problem, or a solution to it? or know what is wrong with it? the lcd?

morrislee , the problem is likely not with your screen or hardware, but likely with the firmware which is not fully compatible.

Are you able to faintly see the menu or other things if you tilt the screen at various angles?

If so, try loading the firmware into Waterlily and set the contrast/brightness setting.

hum... so Waterlily is a program? and where would I go and download it? I found a firmware on here that I think was for my player, I was able to tell from opening from a program s1res.exe(or something) by the way, it there anyway just to add the games to my firmware?

lattesurf 17th Jan 2007 12:02 pm

morrislee , Waterlily is a firmware modifying tool. It can be downloaded here http://www.mympxplayer.org/waterlily...-mb-df256.html

Try playing around with the contrast/brightness setting.

Regarding the games, you'll need to merge firmwares which contains more games into a compatible firmware for your player. It would not be easy to identify which firmware has more games than the others.
However, it is not recommended as your player might just go dead again.

seems like waterlily is not yet competable with my firmware, if possible, can I send you the firmware and you mod the contrast for me?

lattesurf 17th Jan 2007 8:26 pm

morrislee , if Waterlily could not support your firmware, then i'm not sure of any other methods to adjust the contrast/brightness. Perhaps you need to wait till it supports your version.

morrislee 17th Jan 2007 10:17 pm

so you mean that even s1res.exe doesn't have the option to do it either? if so then I can stop looking in to that program

tadad1 18th Jan 2007 12:28 am

morrislee, The contrast adjustment is really only helpful if your screen is to dark and you need to make it brighter. I have also found it has no effect on players that do not have a Brightness setting in the system menu.
You can try Firmware Modifier HERE:
