alshere, After shorting the memory chip and putting it into recovery mode the player will only accept a full version firmware. If this fully recovers your player then great but in most cases it will not but now your player will be able to load extracted firmware dump.bin files until you find one that is compatible with your player. If your player stops responding again then you need to repeat the process of shorting the chip.

mcadam , the firmware that you updated it with is not fully compatible with your player. What was your player's original firmware version?

Besides the colours problem, is the rest of the player functioning properly?

mcadam , if you have a backup of your original firmware (maybe from the CD that came with it), then try flashing it back again.

I would not advise you to try any other firmwares as you will more likely brick your player even if the firmware version is exactly the same. There could be 100s of variants of the same firmware version. You were lucky that this firmware did not brick yours.

As the current firmware extraction tool S1fwx v3.1 does not support any versions higher than v9.0.43, you most probably will encounter problems looking for a compatible firmware.

i'll suggest that you bear with the current colour problem with your player until the tools are able to support your version.

mcadam , as the firmware extraction tool S1fwx v3.1 only supports upto v9.0.43, the firmware dump that you extracted earlier on has missing files. This is the reason for the sand-glass screen even when you flashed it back to the player.

You can either contact your seller for an exchange, or wait until the tool supports your version. So other users are able to extract their firmwares for you to test on your player.

mcadam , it is currently being created by wiRe of S1mp3.de. We don't know when it will be out, maybe a few months.
