I've had mine for 3 days, but yesterday when I turned it on, it just displays an hourglass. When I plug it to my computer, my computer recognized that a USB device is connected but it does not show up as mass storage. I tried skipping to the last step and installing the AdfuUpdate.inf but it won't allow me. My question is, since my computer is already somehow detecting it, and the screen is lighting up, will these step help or is it only for the players that dont' turn on. It won't let me update the firmware either because Windows isn't assigning a drive letter to my player. Thank.

Oh, one more question. I noticed that there are a bunch of different MP4 players, does the same firmware work for all of them provided that the same functions are available for them? This is the one that I purchased:

Another question, I tried partitioning my flash disk into 2 drive on a 4gb so that I would have 2 2gb, My play was once a 4gb player now it is only 2gb and I can't seem to get it to be 4gb again, is there a way I can fix this?

tophusller , to change to English:

1) Press left or right to the Sys Tools menu denoted by the 2 gears rotating.
2) Press Menu
3) Press Right arrow TWICE to highlight 3rd choice in the list.
4) Press Menu
5) Press Right arrow ONCE to highlight 2nd choice in the list.
6) Press Menu and English is selected.

Likely your player only had a 2GB memory chip. It was hacked to showed 4GB instead. The shorting of the chip to reset the player removed the memory hack. To verify further, you can check the memory chip's serial number against the manufacturer.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

tophusller , mostly 90% players bought over the internet are memory hacked. The manufacturers/sellers hack them so that they can sell it at a much higher price.

Hi,

first post to these forums for me. read all 44 pages of this topic (and several other topics). also have a 'dead' player (as in, blueish screen, works if you know what button to press).

have tried numerous firmwares, but nothing does the trick. some of them even make it unreachable, so i used the 'reset trick' a couple of times. really weird to have to shortcircuit random pins to get it to reset.

anyway, i was trying on 2 computers, and i think i've found what causes the "specified location does not contain information for your hardware" error upon trying to install the adfu driver. my desktop has windows 2000, my laptop has XP. on windows 2000, i cant install the driver (error as mentioned in this post, not the signing problem), on XP i can. so i think the adfu driver is XP only.

having said that, i still have a dead player
i wonder why Uxcell doesnt have full firmwares? just updates that kill your player

anyone know what full dump works for the i-nickel 1gb player?
mine originally had 9.0.48 by the way
