Well, my problem is the next: I use XP home edition. I followed the recovery guide I reseted the chip but my computer recognise my mp4 players as a USB device not as an ADFU. I followed the red highlight text but when i want to install the ADFUupdate.inf the windows keep saying : "the specified location does not contain any information about your hardware"
The utility manager does not see the device so I can't upload a new firmware. I tried an other XP, It did not help either. All the time I get this message.
I have read almost the whole forum I have seen similar problem even so no solution. Maybe my mp4 player is one of the really dead mp4 players.
I would be appriciated if i would get any solution.

thnx ZOLI

SigmaTel Firmware uploader AND pressed download.

I have a Ipod nano clone 2 gig. which had the sand watch hour glass problem. Then i followed the recovery guide opened it up, press on the pins with paper clip, then it detected ADFU device. then i was able to use the MP3 upgrade tool and updated the full firmware which i downloaded
chip set is SAMSUNG 710 K9LAG08UOM and the chip set is ATJ2093H
Then the guide told me to format it, Windows explorer cannot detect it, and i have no idea how to format it. What should i do next. The mp4 player started to show some life, no more watch glass anymore.

Hello, Ive got an chinese MP3/MP4 player. Sold as 8GB, actualy only 1GB. After it got off working I tried to upload a firmware. When I upload a full FW the display is still lighting on white and nothing happens. But after that Win Xp recognise it as an USB drive. Is it enough for success and can I continue with formating and uploading a firmware? Or what functionality has the player to have after uploading full FW? Thanks.
