broose, Hard to say but if the full one was working then the problem may be something else. Try shorting the chip across from side to side starting at one end and dragging the tweezers down all pins, I find that more effective most of the time. the other thing that sometimes plays up is the upgrade utility so uninstall it and then install a different version and see how it goes.

broose 21st Oct 2006 8:32 am

Argh success, did what you said and also plugged it into a differant usb port. but now i need to find the right firmware as i dont have the old one

cheers

broose, Happy hunting :)

What you need to do is follow the Dead Player Guide and look in the section where you need to put the player in "Recovery Mode". By shorting the pins on your player and putting your player in "recovery mode", your computer will then detect your player. Then you should be able to install the drivers and format your player after that.

Groovy 23rd Oct 2006 7:09 am

I did it... but It detects it like USB and it is not in exlorer... It says recovery mode butre not in explorer..

Dear all,
I bought an Ipod MP4 (8Gb) from China. But after this one died. I have tried recover it following guides in this topic but I cann't finish as well.
My computer can see only 46Mb on the player. And player shows only blue screen. I tried copy some mp3 files to the player and blindly pressed play button and it plays music too.
Please could you help me to repair my player?
Its Chip: ATJ2085W (F5170AB 55U)
Mem: SAMSUNG 534 K9F1208U0B PCB0 (VGG288P1)
I lost the origin firmware of it.
(and I tried almost firmwares downloaded from this site).
Thank you very much!

tadad1 23rd Oct 2006 9:36 pm

leanseamap, This is possibly the worst case of a hacked player I have seen. Your 8GB Samsung K9F1208U0B chip is actually 64MB which is why it is only showing 46MB as 18MB is possibly taken up by the firmware.
http://www.samsung.com/products/semi...K9F1208U0B.htm
You still have not found the right firmware for your player which is why the screen is still blue. We only have 100 or so on site but there are 100's of variations so finding the right firmware is usually the hardest part of recovering your player.

tadad1 25th Oct 2006 5:58 am

mrbeny81, You need to keep shorting the memory chip until the player is recognised as an ADFU Device sometimes you have to do it many times before it is recognised properly. Try connecting your player to a different USB port and the shorting the chip across from side to side .

mrbeny81 25th Oct 2006 6:14 am

mrbeny81, Keep trying to short the chip in different places eventually it will read correctly.

Hello! I have a problem with my mp3 player from wilson co (only mp3, not the mp4 one) . It is a model with 1 GB memory SAMSUNG and FM radio. I have tried to update the firmware without saving old, and when it finished i can only start the player and look at the red backlight of it. It is detected by my WinXP as USB Mass Storage Device. I dont know what i have done wrong, please could you help me restoring my player back to life? :(

tadad1 26th Oct 2006 7:05 am

mrbeny81,
What's happening? Have you managed to install the ADFU driver?

mrbeny81 26th Oct 2006 2:56 pm

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

i try but always the sem - "USB service" and i hevnt instal drerivers for that :(

tadad1 26th Oct 2006 9:41 pm

mrbeny81,
Windows installs the default drivers automatically.

This is an exert from the guide at s1mp3.org

http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4...titled1zf9.jpg

The other thing that sometimes works is connecting your player to a PC running Windows 98 it should pickup the device as ADFU straight away.

I hope someone will understand me and help me
I have a 4gb version 9.0....

tadad1 27th Oct 2006 7:08 pm

mrbeny81,
The Samsung K9K8G08U0A is (8GigaBit) = 1GB so you have a 1GB chip that was hacked to read 4GB.
http://www.mympxplayer.org/samsung-a...rs-vt1692.html
So use the one you found that worked.

mrbeny81 27th Oct 2006 7:35 pm

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Hi!

iF you have a dead player, witch uses fw 9.0.43. you can restore it, with an older version, like this: http://www.mydown.com/driver/mp3/ainol/29/402529.shtml
This is a japanese or chinese site I don't know it exactly, but due it's look like a normal page, you can fnid the link to donwload. One like this:
http://mdl5.mydown.com/driver/200609...v80_fw9043.zip
:)
It's a FULL VERSION 9.0.43!!!

Have fun with it! :)

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

hhee - funny :/

if tadat 1 doesnt help me - no bady help me :(

admin 28th Oct 2006 4:10 am

mrbeny81

There are lots of other people here that can help.

What heavypioneer mentioned is correct. The latest 9.0.43 can't be used with s1fwx at the moment.

There are lots of FULL FIRMWARE available from here: http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-firmware-dc35.html

You need to try them all to find the one that works for your player. Then find another firmware that will give it back it's functions like it was originally.

Good luck.

tadad1 28th Oct 2006 4:59 am

mrbeny81,
Can you still load firmware to your player? The firmware in the upload tool clears every time you load a new firmware.
Do you remember which firmware you used when your player worked and showed 1GB?

mrbeny81 28th Oct 2006 5:32 am

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

yes im all the time try but no resultat. When i instal the firmware (on adfu - is posible now) and when is don i see blue scree on player and in explorer i see just partition :(
what can i do??????

heavypioneer 28th Oct 2006 8:55 am

There must be some misunderstanding!

With my previous mail I wanted to say:
I've tried to replace my firmware, did something wrong and my player died. But useing the "dead player recovery guide" and http://mdl5.mydown.com/driver/200609...v80_fw9043.zip
I was able to repair my player, and after that edit it with s1fwx!
SO there is a way edit 9.0.43, but I must say it's not so easy like wih older firmwares.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

hey peaple
i need help
i tried to upgrade3 the firmware of my mpx player and accidently put in the wrong firmware.
Now my player is dead but my computer is able to read it as an unknown usb device.
If i try to install the 'AdfuUpdate.inf' from the windows folder then a message appears 'the specified location does not contain information for your hardware'.And if i put the installation settings on automatic then the computer installs some drivers in the the player, then the the computer still reads the player as an unknown device but when i check its properties
then the device type shows that its a 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'
and the drivers details shows that the 'no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device'.
In short i am not able to install the 'AdfuUpdate.inf' .
ps-my mpx player is hacked to show 4gb and i am not able o remove the hack.
Please help :(

tadad1 28th Oct 2006 11:43 pm

sratra, Try a different usb port, if possible one you have not used the player on before or one that you have used some other type of hardware.
Sometimes you need to short the chip quite a few times before the adfu device is read. Try shorting it in different places as well left side right side and even side to side across the chip.
As soon as you have it in recovery mode load a full version firmware then format the player and the hack will be gone.
