spacegabry , the problem lies because the current firmware extraction tool does not support versions above v9.0.43, so other users with working firmwares v9.0.48, v9.0.50, etc, are unable to extract their firmware for you to try.

If you have tried all the firmwares and none worked, i'll suggest you contact your seller for an exchange if it is still under warranty.

I tried to follow the great diagrams above but in my ignorance I may have damaged the board by trying ttweezers on the inside row of pins when using both sides did not appear to work. The screen is now completely black whereas before it was blue with the hour glass. Have I ruined it?

In order to update the firmware "the player should be recognized by the computer" first. Because it is not written clearly, I end up trying all the firmware versions for many hours, but it always stucked during flashing process with MP3 Player Utilities - Upgrade tool. It was just saying "downloading restorable main program". I realized that when I first saw the Update the firmware for your MP3/MP4 player tutorial written by admin.

Just a note...
I've been experiencing the same thing... "Downloading the restorable main program".. stucks there. Can anobody pls tell me what to do with this?

WindBurn , try uninstalling the current version of MP3 Utilities, and install other versions instead. There are many versions available in the downloads section here http://www.mympxplayer.org/mp3-playe...ties-dc44.html

Some versions of MP3 Utilities are known to hang whilst trying to flash firmware into players for unknown reasons.
