Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Thanks for your guide it was very helpfull to bring my player a life. I was messing around with firmware. But with the full version of 3.5.35 it's back.
I bought my players last week in Beijing, very cheap for a 4gb version CPU: ATJ2085W, Memory VDATA VD101KC13-L1 SC85051C, date 2006/06/29 ACT_V3.5.35  Now i know why they so cheap, it isnt 4gb but 128 mb  |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
hi there
i've followed your tutorial but it seems that i don't have the adfuupdate.inf file on my pc :( ! so can you pls upload the file somewhere that i can get it? tia Observer :edit: after shorting around the chip my player now can be recognised from my pc but it cannot start from its own i tried putting several firmwares but nothing happened |
Obs, If you have MP3 Player Utilities installed there is a copy of the driver in the folder MP3 Player Utilities 3.68\RDiskUpdate\driver.
The hardest part of recovering the player is finding the right firmware for your player. You need to install a Full Version firmware first and then you can try different dump files till you find the right one. If your player stops responding you need to go back to square 1 and short the chip again to set the player into Recovery Mode then upload another Full Version firmware and keep trying dump files. Sorry there is no quick fix for the problem if can be fixed on the first try or it could take you 100 attempts. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
ok i think i found a compatible firmware but after doing the upadte with the fwupdate utility my player just hangs there with a blue screen what do i need now to continue any tips ?
:edit: unfortuantely my disk is MP3set3_66 version and there is no rdisk folder and no driver inside |
Obs, that tells me it is not a compatible firmware. You need to try some others. Other versions of the MP3 Tools are available in the Download>Tools section.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Help me pls!!!
I have problem my iPod is dead after upgrade firmware and i try to do follow Dead recovery guide but i have problem my screen can't open and pc can detect ADFU device and me try to recover it's show " Read or write device information failed! Please exit the program and check if device is connecting!" Pls help me!!! |
golfzila, What happens when you short the chip?
Try using a different USB port if you can one you have not used the player on before and then short the chip again. The player will not accept any firmware until it is in recovery mode and then you will need to use a Full Version Firmware not a dump.bin. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Okay sorry for being such a pain, but what should the pc pick the player up as after i install the firmware and flash it for the second time?
Just as a note after i recover the firmware the device becomes automatically disconnected...is that supposed to happen? Sorry again, DanDan PS i think i might have posted this in some other random place...sorry about that too. |
DanDan, After you install the Full Version firmware the player should be recognised as it usually is in explorer (a removable device). You may have to format the player before it will accept the next dump file. Also if the dump file is giving you an error you may have to place it in the s1fwx folder and run the repair.bat then try to load it. Some of the files uploaded have not been repaired and will return an error message when trying to use them.
