now your player is partly fixed.
you should load the dump.bin if you have it or load some other firmwares from this site into your player. You do not have to put in the full firmware now.
Your player will recover if you put in the correct firmware now.
good lck

Groovy 30th Oct 2006 9:49 am

DO NOT DO IT if your player is not dead !!!

Groovy 30th Oct 2006 10:31 am

ppowle 30th Oct 2006 12:02 pm

hi everyone, i think my player is dead.
when i turn it on it shows a blue screen for a couple of seconds, then turns off and switches itself back on, gives the blue screen for some moments und turns off only to switch back on in an instant.

my computer obviously doesnt recognize the player anymore. i must have had a curript firmware file.

but anyways,

is my player dead, should i follow the steps in this guide? or is there another way to get my player working again?? maybe a way where i dont have to open my beauty?

many thanks in advance - ppowle!

tadad1 30th Oct 2006 2:55 pm

tadad1

i formated it and still the same problem.

tadad1 1st Nov 2006 4:41 am

sratra, Try another dump and see if you get the same message, if you do try a different full version firmware then the dump again.

tadad1 1st Nov 2006 5:40 am

sratra, Where did you get the one that you can not use?

ActivatedTM 1st Nov 2006 6:01 am

When I try to upload a firmware, the program shows an error: "Update verification failed" Please help! what can I do? I have a Sigmatel MP4 player zc-45.

tadad1 1st Nov 2006 6:17 am

ActivatedTM, What firmware are you trying?

ActivatedTM 1st Nov 2006 6:40 am

MS5541FW_v006.002.009

ActivatedTM 1st Nov 2006 6:47 am

sigmatel_2.600.600

And there is onother error message, when I use older Sigmatel upload software... I attach player
to computer, there is a sound and then I copied sigmatel_2.600.600 files to Sigmatel upload directory and ran updater, and then it shows
an error message: "Unable to write firmware file data"

innocent_imperfections 2nd Nov 2006 3:54 am

Can someone please help me? I recently purchased a black iPod nano wanna-be of 4GB and I went to upgrade the firmware and it did that 'blue screen' thing. I have followed the DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE but I still have a blue screen staring at me...what can I do?

tadad1 2nd Nov 2006 4:10 am

innocent_imperfections, The hardest part about trying to recover your player is finding the right firmware. There are 100's of variations each built to suit specific hardware components. Your only option is to keep searching and trying firmware that suits your player screen size until you find one that is compatible with your player.

What chipset is your player using?

sratra 2nd Nov 2006 4:40 am

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

tadad1
do you mean the full firmware?

sratra 2nd Nov 2006 4:42 am

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

tadad1
i had got the full firmware from;

http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...6364da93f003b1

and the dump from;http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...le&file_id=186

tadad1 2nd Nov 2006 5:18 am

sratra, Ok well I tested the dump and it is ok so it is most likely just not compatible with your player. I can only suggest that you keep trying the other dump files. If you have no luck try a different full version then try the dumps again.

What can I do with .bin files? How I can upload them to my player? Do I need any software to do that? PLZ HELP!!!! :(

Groovy 2nd Nov 2006 2:16 pm

DO NOT PANIC and read guides man;)

Good man

tadad1 2nd Nov 2006 2:17 pm

ActivatedTM,
Sigmatel chipset firmware is very different to Actions chipset firmware which you can not load to your player.

Sigmatel firmware generally comes with it's own install. We only have a couple of Sigmatel firmware on site.

ActivatedTM 4th Nov 2006 2:38 am

tadad1,

I think that Sigmatel firmware 2.600.600 is the right one for my player, but when I try to upload it, then at the end error message appears: "update verification failed" What does it mean and what can I do?

tadad1 4th Nov 2006 3:00 am

ActivatedTM, I have never owned a Sigmatel player so sorry I am not familiar with the upgrade process.

Have you checked out the Sigmatel forum at s1mp3.org

innocent_imperfections 5th Nov 2006 1:15 pm

How do I find out what chipset it is using? This is the ebay link for the mp4/mp3 player I purchased: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&ih=016.
Please tell me how I can fix it as I have only had this player for a short amount of time. Thank you.
