innocent_imperfections, There is a program called EasyChips that may be able to identify your players chipset.

Dear Tadad1,
I tried some firmware for my player, but it is still not working. The screen is blue and sometime it blinks. And the wost is my computer can not see the player more, so I can't try any firmware more. What I can do then? Please help me! Thank you very much. |
Hi. I used that EasyChips program and I got the following number combination in the first box: ATJ2085P.
Is this the chipset because nothing else makes sense although it does say it is a mass storage usb device. |
innocent_imperfections, Yes that is the chipset. If you do not have a backup of your firmware then all you can do is try any you can find that match your screen size until you find one that works with your player.
|
leanseamap, If your player is no longer being recognised by the upgrade tool you need to short your chip again and then load a full version firmware then you can continue loading dump files till you find one that works with your player.
|
THIS GUIDE WAS AMAZING!!! I follow the instructions and I recover my Dead Player!!! I owe you a BEER, or two, or three....
THANK YOU MAN! |
landerx, Good news man, Well Done :D
|
Yay! I fixed my MP4 player...i uninstalled the USB driver and reinstalled it, then uninstalled MP3 Utilities 3.70 and upgraded to MP3 Utiliites 4.05. After that I used this firmware: http://www.mympxplayer.org/firmware-...ltd-df392.html
Thank you whoever put that up... |
almost...it recognises the MP4 player with all the files that were on it but it has a black screen. what do i do now?
|
innocent_imperfections, Have to keep trying dump files till you find one that works with your player. I know it is frustrating but keep going you will get there. I killed one of my player over 70 times before I managed to recover it.

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
hi everyone,
first i encountered the "format error" whenever i put over 20 songs in my so called ipod nano 8gb mp4 player (with ipod label in-front) which i bought during my trip to china. i read from this forum to do a full format with the HP program in order to correct the disk space true reading. after the format it only has a capacity of 108mb. sigh.... once i formatted and re-plug my mp4 player, it only shows a blank (black)screen like it isn't turned on. also, my windows xp can sometimes recognised the drive and sometimes will pop up a message saying my usb device has malfuctioned and re-plug it. i upgraded the firmware with the mp3 player utilities 3.68 which i found here http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-firm...-mb-df357.html and http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-version-3537-df182.html but it didn't help, everytime i plug in my mp4 it just blank. these are some info i found on the chips inside the case: ATJ2051H F7116AB 583 The silver cover has a serial: YM5387WZSZB can anyone pls help. i have been looking in this forum for a solution for hours but i can't find any similar to mine. |
Try the one I did.... I had the same chip code...

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
If read all comments, tried more an more bin files, but maybe tadad can help me, i have open a thread but nog reaction yet. This is the
Thread with foto of my nano look . I used many complete firmware, and still have a blue screen after upgrading to full firmware, this means that its still isn't the right one. Hopefully Tadad you can help me.... |
drogekloot, In most cases the Full Version firmware will not fully recover your player but once loaded you will be able to use backup dump.bin files to recover your player. There are a lot more dump files available so you then have a better chance of finding one that works.
|
Thanks tadad1,
I shorted my player and Windows can read it now. I'll try some more fw. |
This guide is great
But I'm stuck at the final step I can not find the suitable totally dumb dump.bin file here Oh god, how can I forget to create the backup file before upgrading the firmware ? I can never find it :( |

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
My mp3 player is ded, wen i conect him to the usb port is recognised as ADFU Server Device.
But wene I want to write my firmwere the program stopes the progres at the middle part (downloading the restorable main program). Wat can I dooooooo????? |
muratu. If your player is being recognised as an ADFU Device then it is in recovery mode and you need to be loading a full verison firmware to your player as the player will not accept a dump in recovey mode. Once you have loaded the full version then you can try and load your dump.
I notice from your other posts that your player uses 9.0.43 firmware you will find a few full versions in the Download section howwever I think they are all for 1.8 inch players not 1.5 so they may not help. I suggest you try loading one of the full firmware then try your dump. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
I tried all the fw files and everi one is making the same proablem, stoping at 30% progres. and the dump files arn't warkig(invalid firmwere file)
Wat can I doo? |
Hey guys,
It seems that muratu and I are in the same boat. I have followed the recovery guide to the letter and everything goes well until the time comes to load the firmware. It is at this point that the upload gets stuck at around 30-40%. In addition, my player does not show up as a Removable Drive in My Computer, it only appears as the ADSU drive in Device Manager. All I see on my player is that horrid hourglass! Blast! Any help chaps? ^-^ |
If your player is recognised as an ADFU device then it will be in recovery mode and will only accept a Full Version firmware as explained in the guide. Once you have installed a full version firmware it should be recognised as a Removable Device and then be visible in Explorer. You should then be able to load dump.bin files to your player.
If your player uses 9.0.48 firmware then there are no full version or dump files available for these players, until they become available there is nothing you can do to recover your player. If your player uses 9.0.43 there are a few in the download section but no full versions as yet for 1.5 inch LCD models only 1.8 inch so you may have problems as well. |
Thank you, tadad1, for putting it in such simple terms. I used to have the 9.0.48 firmware, but all went to hell on Saturday after a silly mistake. Oh well, you live and learn, I suppose. Cheerio!

Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Hi,
For start the firmware upgrade I have a new problem: flash is not detected. In this case, I'm need start the procedure: "Dead Player Recovery Guide", or have anotrer procedure for this? Tks. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Hi or (Hej) as we say in Sweden. I followed the Dead player recovery guide and i managed to reset the player and it gets in to ADFU mode. But when I start the Upgrade tool it says "Device Switching Failed, please reconnect" I have made reset several times. I don't know what to do, please help me...
|
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
I have tried the Dead Player Recovery Guide and my computer still won't reconize my player <img> for some reason it worked the fitst time and now it just won't or load the firmware all I get is the hourglass.
|
HotCrisis16, You may have to repeat the process many times to find a working combination of full and dump firmware to recover your layer.
Are you getting any warning messages when you try to load firmware? Have a look in the RDisk Update tool folder, if there is a folder named "recover" delete it and then connect you rplayer and try to load another full version firmware. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
No I mean my computer won't even reconize it so I can load the firmware onto the player. It's a 4gb iPod Nano Clone...so my guess is that it was hacked and when I did the dead player recovery guide it removed the hack and the firmware won't work or something like that.
|
HotCrisis16, When you successfully short your player memory chip the player is put into recovery mode and Windows should recognise it as an ADFU Server. It will not be visible in explorer at this time but should still be recognised by the upgrade tool. If the upgrade tool will not recognise it then you need to try shorting the memory chip again. Try shorting different combinations of pins, personally I find I get better results shorting the pins across the chip from side to side.
|
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Ok I do that but the player just resets and go to the screen with the hourglass and nothing happens.
|
HotCrisis16, If the player is still showing the hourglass after shorting then the player is not going into recovery mode.
You may need to disconnect the battery and then cross the pins and keep them crossed while connecting your player to USB. If possible use a new usb port to connect, preferably one you have not used the player on before. |
Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE
Ok I did that and used a diffrent computer at the same time and still nothing.
|
HotCrisis16, Then the player may be unrecoverable. Unless you can get it into ADFU mode there is no way you will be able to start the recovery process. :(

I don't know what a player i have
here is a photo http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/9...e037os5.th.jpg http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/3...e038zg8.th.jpg I Upgrade player this firmware, disconnect player and run MP3 Upgrade Tool again and see this massage http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/4062/devyb5.th.jpg What i should do to back my player to life? PS. I have backup my original firmware (dump.bin) but i must upgrade this dump.bin file with some original files , but i don't know what files i should upgrade Help me please!!! |
KKS, Try placing a small piece of card on top of your memory chip and press down gently on it while you try to load your backup dump.bin.
If you extracted your backup dump with s1fwx and then ran the repair.bat to repair it then your dump should be ok. If you did not repair it after extraction then place it in the s1fwx folder and run the repair.bat, then try the above. |

KKS, could you zip and upload your firmware dump to www.uploaded.to and then leave me a link so I can look at it.

KKS, Your dump is already repaired and seems to be fine. If your player is in recovery mode then you will need to load a full version firmware to it. Once you find a full version that brings your player out of recovery mode and detected as a removable device then load your dump to your player.
