Hi, I have a problem while recovering... My MP4 isn't recognized by the Tools! It's shown as an ADFU device, but when I'm gonna upgrade, there is no device to upgrade, lol.
Help!

Thank you for the guide... It was really useful for recovering my AK1025 mp4 player.
Only one thing is in question: after being totally recovered the screen is more darker than before. I mean in spite of putting brightness at the highest level, the screen is still darker than ever. I cannot enjoy watching videos...
How can I solve this problem? If you have any ideas, let me know please!
Thank you!

I have this really weird problem, i got the player, and tried to do a firmware upgrade with the firmware that i got from the manufacturer. It Killed my player. Then i got through the dead player recovery guide and now i can't seem to get any firmware to work on it. When i turn it on i only get this weird white screen. I checked the fw version before it died and it said 9.1.52 i got the same version but nothing. Not working.
And i've found this serial and name on some chip inside: Nynix HY27UT088G2M. Please someone help: summoned_by_wish@yahoo.com

First: that chip is Hynix not Nynix

Second: my advice is the following:
- try to power up your player somehow to have enough energy for doing the recovery
- then search for a similar firmware here but an earlier version like 9.1.51 or 9.1.50 (maybe 9.1.43 could be good also)
- download an earlier version of MPUtilities (I have used the 3.68 but 4.00 is also good if that early version cannot do anything)
- do the "recovery guide" posted here in the forum
- use that early version (9.1.51 or earlier) for recovering
- then use your dump.bin after firmware upgrading
- if your player is useable try to format it in FAT (not NTFS, or FAT 32)
- I have used the tool called "HP Usb format" or similar to that name
- rename your original firmware's attribute from fw, fwu to bin
- upgrade your player with it, and then the dump.bin again
- if it is needed, use the formatting tool again
- then your player is alive!

Maybe my "guide" is not the perfect one for your player, but it works for me perfectly!

well Andrew Z. if you go after the firmware version 9.1.52 only then there are hundred of firmwares which match this basic requirment(9.1.52).Try to refine your search by opening your player and see it's main chip which is mostly next to HYNIX and then under that chip catergory search your fimware. If you checked your firmware before it is dead and it is just saying that 9.1.52 then my guess is that your main chip is ACU7515,confirm your main chip and try to find the board number or plate number and things like that and then search for the firmware.

Default Re: DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE

Hello! I am new here, and I started to like this site a LOT.

My mp4 is DEAD. I have bought it, plugged it in PC, copied some music, unplugged it, and voila- hourglass of death!

I have read the instructions, but I didn't do the dissasembling trick, I just went to the "red" part. The device is Actions USB 2.0 HS WinUSB device. So, is this that fancy ADFU?

Anyways, the AdfuUpdate.inf worked PERFECTLY. ANd there goes the update. Run the Firmare Upgrade tool, with like 5 firmware, none is okay. So, can someone geive me some help?

I will post a pic of the player soon, but i can tell you this:

Delta Electronics ESM830, 1 GB

But, what's bothering me? All firmwares have in their specs that battery type is alkaline 1,5V. But mine is rechargeable 3,8V. Is this going to work??

And where can I find the dump file for firmware when there is only one, .fw file? Backing up my firmware (which i probably do NOT have on my mp4 at he moment) is, obviously, not an option.

I can't see my player in Explorer. Hourglass is displaying, no matter what firmware do I try to install.

Anyone?
