Question about firmware restoration

Like many others, I tried upgrading the firmware and my mp4 player died.

I shorted the pins and revived it however, it still wont function normally. I found out that the .bin file is NOT the full firmware and that you need the .fw file and THEN update it with the .bin file.

I think the problem is the .fw file (the full firmware) is not the right one.

My coworker has the same model mp4 player with the same original player.

Can I extract the FULL firmware off his player and use that? I know how to get the .bin file off, but now the .fw file.

Thanks

Hepnotic, It is not possible to extract a full firmware. That is why they are so hard to find. Very rarely they may be on the CD that comes with the player.

Hepnotic

There is now a seperate section called "Full Firmware" under the [Download] --> "Firmware" section.

This should have a list of full firmwares which you can use to hopefully give you a better chance at recovering your player.

Good luck and let us know if it works or not.
