Server,
Check that you have Administrator rights in WindowsXP. If you only have a User Limited Account you need to log in to windows as Administrator or change your User setting to Administrator.
Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Go to the Hardware Tab and then press the Driver Signing button. Then select the top option Ignore and tick Make this action the system default.

Now try to install the driver again.

Plug your player into a different USB port and then try again.

it continues to say to me: the specific position does not contain information on the hardware

Server, There is another driver in C:\Program Files\MP3 Player Utilities\RDiskUpdate\driver folder, try that one.

You could try right clicking on the AdfuUpdate.inf file and select Install. Then go to the device manager and uninstall the USB device then connect to another USB port and short your player again.

Server,
Like most of the problems with these players it is just perserverance and the will power not to throw the thing at the wall that gets it right in the end. You might try using this commercial upgrade tool HERE.
Install it then plug in your player open the Product Tool and press the Identify Port button Although I have not used it for this I think it has the ability to identify the usb device and install the driver.

Before you do that though if it is a usb device and you can see it in explorer try to format it then see if you can install the AdfuUpdate driver.
