"no info about your device"

Okay guys, ill pay to see this one work again. I tried to update the firmware on my nano clone mp4 player, now it wont turn on at all!!!!
I've tried the dead player recovery and that wont work because when it gets to the part where you click update u cant bcuz there is no driver to update. so it says reinstall driver, i try that and it says there is no info about your device in this folder. now thats a tuffy. i would really like to see this work again any help would be great. specs are below.

Board: MP-732CV1-SL
Memory: Samsung 1024m
And I dont know if this helps but there is a speaker in the back of my mp4 player. Just to help identify it.

michigan2005, If you mean the the AdfuUpdate driver if there is not a copy in your Windows folder there should be a copy in C:\Program Files\MP3 Player Utilities \RDiskUpdate\driver folder or wherever you installed the Utilities.

You may also need to right click on My Computer and select Properties>Hardware>Driver signing and select ignore and make this action the system default.

Make sure you also logged in to Windows with Administrive rights and not a limited User Account.

If you are plugging your player into the same USB port as when it was working try another port.

michigan2005, You could try right clicking on the inf file and select Install. Then go to the device manager and uninstall the USB device then scan for changes.

michigan2005, Like most of the problems with these players it is just perserverance and the will power not to throw the thing at the wall that gets it right in the end. You might try using this commercial upgrade tool HERE.
Install it then plug in your player open the Product Tool and press the Identify Port button Although I have not used it for this I think it has the ability to identify the usb device and install the driver.

Before you do that though if it is a usb device and you can see it in explorer try to format it then see if you can install the AdfuUpdate driver.

Try these steps to see if this helps (you will probably need to plug in a PS/2 keyboard and mouse to do this as deleting the USB devices might make your mouse/keyboard unoperational):

1. Restart the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly after the first screen displays. A Startup screen displays.

2. Select Safe Mode and press Enter. Windows starts with Safe Mode displayed in all four corners of the desktop.

3. Right-click My Computer then click Properties. Click on the [Hardware] tab the top then choose "Device Manager".

4. Click the ( +) plus sign next to the Universal Serial Bus.

5. Select USB Root Hub, and then click Remove. Continue until all USB Root Hubs are removed.

6. Close Device Manager.

7. In Windows 98 and Me, click Start, click Find, and click Files or Folders. In Windows XP, click Start, click Search, and then click all Files and Folders.

8. Set the Look in box to Local Hard (C: and D:).

9. In the Named box type usb.inf, then click Find Now.

10. Right-click USB.inf, then Install.

11. Restart the computer and verify that the USB Root HUB exists in Device Manager.

12. Go to C:\Program Files\MP3 Player Utilities 3.68\RDiskUpdate\driver (or whatever folder you have the MP3 Player Utilities installed).

13. Right mouse click on AdfuUpdate.inf then choose "Install".

14. Reconnect the USB device.

Try that and let me know if that works or not for you.
