Default Dead 1gig mp4 player

If anyone can help. I bought this nano like mp4 player. I got my player today. It was working fine. Then Blink! It cut off and no screen. Ok.. Maybe the batteries dead. I charged it... but it never came back on. Ok.. So I email the Chinese guy who sold it to me on EBAY... He acts retarded saying select this and that from the menu. I told him It dont come on then he said the same thing..CIRCLES>>> OK CIRCLES>>So.. I hit the message boards and found this one.. which seems to be where everyone else comes to.. so.. I have read all the threads, I got a backup of my firmware. I tried Wirestool set to get it. I tried the restore. Nada. I can see my MP4 player via the removable disk. and whats on it.. but no Picture on the OLED. I tried another flash dump with someone who had the same player. Nada. Any ideas. Firmware is v3.5.35 I guess and using the same Flower startup screen that some others have had. Any and I mean any ideas besides a hammer would be greatly appreciated.

Maxblaster, The fact that it just died would indicate a technical failure with one of the components. Sending it back for replacement is possibly your best option. If that is not going to happen then I suggest following the DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE HERE
Doing this however is going to void any warrenty you may have though.
If by shorting the chip as outlined in the guide the player shows no sign of life (screen illumination or flicker) the player is most likely cactus and your other suggestion with the hammer may provide a tiny piece of satisfaction.
If it shows some signs of life then the fact that you have a backup of your original firmware there is a odds on chance it can be restored following the guide. Once you have the player in recovery mode you are going to have to flash it twice once with one of the full version firmware files (in the Firmware download section) I suggest one of the 3.5.35 versions and then with your backup.

Sorry there is no hard and fast answer man, but let us know how you go.

Yeah I followed the chip short and flash firmware. But no. There is no resolve. The sad thing is. I never got to know the full functional value this little player would lend the world. Its become just another 1 gig drive with no more value than if Ihad bought an sd card or paper weight. For all those who buy this model as a value. Dont do it.. Stay clear.... pay the extra cash. Get Zen. Get Pod.. but dont get Chinese!!! ok.. well... not their mP4 Player.. cus the food is really good... but none the less. I will play lonley taps as I know the guy from ebay will continue to run me in cirlces before he sends me a new one. The walk through on the other hand is really good.. Very easy instructions.. Concise.. to the point.. A monkey could do it. Thanks for at least having that up for people like me who got screwed.. or who screw themselves trying to flash their players.. but thanks.. it was very helpful.

Maxblaster, I think your player is just a dud and I can understand you being pissed but in general for the money the ChiPod is pretty good value I have 4 know and have never had any problems with any of them. The one I used for the guide I had to set out to kill on purpose and even then it was not easy. I must have flashed it 6 or 7 times with the most incompatible firmware I could find and still could not kill it, finally had to pull the lead halfway through the upgrade and corrupt the install. Any way I suggest you still try to send it back for replacement.

Cheers

It was exactly like mine.. I tried everything.. It did exactly like you said.
