Storage size different for Actual
 

Hi

Need Help , I have successful recover my dead Mp3 play ,
MP-693-SL V12


But after reformat the storage , the size become 108MB instead of 2 GB
and my MP3 play when set to online mode , I can see E and F drive
but now only E and the size is 108MB

Anyone facing the same problem as mind.

wtleong, What is the manufacturer and serial number of your memory chip?

My chip label is HY27UF081G2M

wtleong, Your chip is actually only a 1GB here is a link to the Hynix Data sheet for the HY27UF081G2M Nand Flash HERE
Some of these players have memory chips that have been hacked so that they appear to be larger than they really are. When you format the player it removes the hack and you are left with the true size of your chip.
You should be able to recover another 800MB or so.
Open the MP3 Player Disk Tool and select the Partition encrypt tab and make sure the slider is all the way left at zero.
Then use this program to format your player DOWNLOAD

You should also contact your supplier and complain, if you got it from ebay you should post bad feedback, also contact ebay regarding the problem and if you used paypal you may be able to do something there as well.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, let me know if you are able to increase the amount of usable storage.

Tadad1, Have try afew time still getting the same result. Only shown 108MB on E drive

Previously b4 I flash my MP3 play
There is 2 drive when I set to online mode
e: is 100MB
f : 1997MB

But now only see e drive which is 108mb

This MP3 player I brought in shenzhen(china) during a holiday when i go hong kong 3 months ago .

Some questions for you:

1. What operating system are you using?

2. What format was the E: and F: drive formatted at previously?

3. Try using the "MP3 Player Disk Tool" from the "MP3 Player Utilities 3.68" and check the [Partition and Encrypt] tab and check to make sure it's set to "0MB" instead. It's probably easier to have one partition instead of two seperate.

4. Still in the "MP3 Player Disk Tool" --> [Partition and Encrypt] tab it will also tell you the "Disk total capacity". What does it say?

5. If all else fails, try FORMATTING it. Either using the "MP3 Player Disk Tool" or from Windows itself and see what happens.


Try those and let me know of the result.

just wonding the ship HY27UF081GM is a 1 GB storage , how come it become 108MB after reflash the firmware.

Is there any tweaking software available that can tweak the storage b4 1 GB.

wtleong, I can only assume that the chip is 1GB based on the Hynix spec sheet for the chip number you quoted. But there is no way to tell if it is a genuine Hynix chip or a fake generic chip printed with a Hynix serial number. I will see if I can find any software that may help.

Thank for your progam , but it don't not help , when i run the progam
It detect a USB Device with 108 MB . when I formated it still give me the same size.

wtleong, I do not know for sure but perhaps the firmware you have used has altered the partition table somehow. If you have recovered the player once you can recover it again. If you feel up to a bit of experimenting I suggest you try a few of the full version firmware in the download section and see if they make any difference.
Could you leave me some links to the firmware you used so that I can have a look at them?

I've got exactly the same problem, 108 Mb after a new format with the same chip number, before 4 Gb and after 108 Mb, dit you solve the problem?

Till now have not find any solution, try different firmware and it don't work . just order a new mp4 play for ebay yesterday , guess maybe arrived in few days time
