I did the recovery guide a couple times because of trying different fw. Ok now when I use the tweezers it doesn't work, but i hear a sound from the pc that a usb is connected but can't go into the files in the player.

I don't know if I have already recovered it because when ever I press the mp3 upgrade tool 3.68 it says "now is recover state, and select the firmware file for recovering please!" So i upgrade my dump file from my other nano but when it finished upgrading it is still black screen. I can't even turn on the nano... its just a black screen.

Ken101, If your player is in recovery state you must use a full version firmware first then your dump file. Your dump file alone will not fix the problem as there are crucial files missing from it.

Hi

let me get this straight:

first I find a full firmware and ungraded to my player ( I have tried all of the full firmwares in the download section but none of them works)

then if i have found the correct firmware, my player should show some life

and then I use the dump file.

Is the the right way that I should do it??

Ken101, Yes.

Here is how it works. A dump file is only a partial firmware certain critical files are not backed up, at the moment there is no way to fully backup your firmware.
There are full version firmware that usually come on the CD with the player or from manufacturer web sites but they are rare and hard to come by. The chances of finding the exact full firmware for you player are very slim.
If your player is in recovery mode you need to use a full version firmware it will not accept a dump.
Although the full firmware may not be right for your player it will install the critical files needed to boot your player so you end up with a player that is recognised by Windows but has a blue or black screen but is alive.
Now your player will accept dump files which are more readily available and you have a graeter chance of finding one that suits your player.
If you know your player firmware version (3.5.35, 3.5.37) you should stick to those. You can furthur narrow down the possibilities by opening the firmware in s1res and finding the ones that have the same menu, boot and shutdown images as your player had. Also check the sizeing of the images if your player is 1.5 boot images will be 128x128 if 1.8 they will be 160x120.

If you have not backed up your players firmware you need to try random firmware till you find the right one. You may also need to try different combinations of full and dump files.

Sorry there is no quick fix and the process can be frustrating and time consuming as you may have to start the whole process from scratch and short the chip again if your player stops responding.
