Default [Solved] Dead player... or not?

I recently got a '8GB' mp4 player as a gift. Couldn't get it to work properly so I formatted it and I ended up getting a 256MB player. Problem now is that I can't turn it on but my PC can detect it and I can transfer my files into the player. Is my player dead or is it something else.. maybe the LCD? Need help!

shah,
Check the CD that came with your player there may be a copy of the firmware on it. It will be a .bin or .fw file. If it has one or you have a backup dump.bin you could try to reload your firmware. If you have no backup of your firmware and you know the right version number you can try ones from the download section.

This process could make the problem worse though as you may end up with a player that no longer works and is not recognised by Windows in which case you will have to follow the DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE to get your player going again.

I tried to follow the recovery guide with no success. I can turn on my player but I can only see a blue screen. Windows did not detect my player.

The label on the chip says:

Hynix KOR
HY27UF082G2M
TPCB 618A
M95DM502Y

Hope this helps.

shah,
What happened when you crossed the chip pins?
Did Windows install the AdfuUpdate driver?
Did the player go into recovery mode?

tadad1,
nothing happened when i crossed the pins. Do i have to connect any random pins together or are there any specific pins to be connected? I'm starting to give up and try to fix another device with the same problem.

shah, It can be random I have even done it from opposite sides. The only thin I can think of is the player must be switched on and connected to the PC when you do it. Shorting the chip will generally make the screen flicker.
