Default 512 showing 256 mb after formatting

I brought a 512 mp3 player from eBay. When I formated it, now showing 256 mb. how can I get it back ??

Chances are you got a hacked player from a bad seller. Hacked players are those who original memory is altered to show that it can hold more than it really can and when formatted the original (lesser) memory shows.

You probably want to get ahold of the seller and ask for an exchange/refund.
